Hi, nativetxn - I'm a Type II. Found out in February of 1996. So far I've been doing OK with just pills. Diet alone didn't work for me. Wish I could still eat whatever I wanted whenever I wanted, but there are a lot of worse things in life than diabetes. Losing weight and exercise does help me so I appreciate all the support!
Thanks!

Congrats on your weight loss. I'm sure it will help. Great that you don't have to take any meds. I wasn't able to control my blood sugar without them, but I figure the longer I can go without insulin injections, the better. You're right, it definitley ain't easy! But it's worth it to be healthy. Keep in touch. It helps to have the support.

HI! I've read you're posts! I would love to be invovled in the Wish Challenge! I have been doing Atkins for 9 months and have lost 48lbs! My goal is a total of 60lbs! The lbs fell off in the begning but I've been a lil laxed lately! And I think it would be great to hear from others also doing Atkins! I already look like a new person! I have 12 pounds to go to reach my goal! :Pinkbounc

Just wanted to extend a warm welcome to all the newcomers. This is a great place to relax and chat!

Hi Goofy22 welcome to the DIS and WISH. I'm really glad you decided to join us.

I'm following the Atkins plan, too, there are lots of people here following that plan.

Grab your clipart and join us. We have a great support group here.

Okay its Monday and back to the WW points - I put that nasty four letter word (diet) on hold Friday, knowing that it had to resurface today! Had a good weekend with DD (OHmom) and DSIL and neice at the Women of Faith Conference. Two nights out in restaurants that were superb and I admit - I left the WW point system at home :-) So here I go again....................

Okay, AlreadyexcitedGrammy, onward and downward. You can do it!

OK everybody- I'm responding to the thread put on the CB today. I believe I'm ready to start -AGAIN!
CarolMN- I joined Curves (Women's only excercise club- only 30 minutes too!!!) 2 weeks ago and have been pretty good about excercising-so far that is. I don't think I'll actually be starting the diet portion of this for another couple weeks, but it is similar to Atkins. I'm so excited that you're doing this as well. It'll be fun to have someone to walk the way with me- if you're willing that is. I am also a diabetic- type II- have know for about a year now. I take meds, but still my numbers are loopy, so that's why I've started this Curves again. Hoping that it will get things under control. WHy are you doing the calorie diet instead of the carb diet? Just wondering.
Our family is planning a trip to WDW in January '04- I probably have a total of over 100 lbs to lose, but my goal is 65 lbs by January. That's 10 months.
Has anyone on this thread ever lost that much and kept it off?

Hi karebear1. Welcome to WISH. I'm really glad you decided to join us.

There is a really great post written by Wovenwonder telling you how to add the WISH clipart to your signature, right HERE

We have several Curves members, several WW's and several of us follow a controlled carbohydrate eating plan.

My husband is also typeII diabetic, out of control for 15 years. Controlling his carbohydrate intake has given him normal blood sugars for the first time in over a decade.

Grab your clipart and join us. No fair lurking either. We need you to be part of our support group :)

I was scrolling around and came upon this thread. Saw it had two of my favorite topics - weight loss and Nativetxn. LOL

I use the WW diet and attend TOPS and have lost between 75 and 80 pounds, according to what day of the week it is.

I can buy clothes in a regular store now and sat in the middle of the row at a production last night without rubbing anyone the wrong way.

I am proud of myself but still have a long way to go and would appreciate any help or ideas from the group.

I check in at Dottie's quite often for a lot of great advice also.

Will go back and read all the messages as soon as I get a chance.

Looking forward to getting to know you all and see less and less of you each visit. (grin)

{{{HUGS}}} Linda. You are so nice. Welcome to WISH. Sounds like you have really accomplished a lot of weight loss so far. I'm so happy and proud for you.

I'm glad you've decided to join us. You can add the WISH clipart to your signature if you want, there are instructions as to how to do that HERE

I'm so glad you're part of our support group! I'm adding you to my list now, so no fair lurking. You have to join in with us.

HI! Everyone! I am so glad to see so many Atkins dieters! It really is a way of life! And if I can do it ! Believe me anyone can do it! Like I've said in my first post I've lost 48lbs in 10 months today!and the first 19lbs were in the first 2 weeks! And believe me they are by no means the easiest 2 weeks!! If you make it through them then you are smooth sailing after! And it is true once the sugars and flours, pastas are out of you're system you do not want nor crave them! And you will not be hungry if you're doing it the way you should! If you play by the rules it will work! I am the perfect example and still have 12lbs to go! I weighed in when I started this in June and weighed in at 216 lbs ! Now I am proud to say I weigh 168lbs! My goal is 155lbs ! So for everyone out there just starting it is possible! Keep smiling you're day will come!

I just joined WW on Wednesday so I had to join up with you guys on here! Just wanted to say hi!

Hi Michelle! I'm really glad you decided to join us. We have a lot of fun on WISH and keep each other motivated and headed towards our goals. You're going to fit in just perfectly.

Now visit often, okay? No lurking allowed ;)

Hi back at cha Nativetxn!

Have not been lurking just busier than heck. Amazing how much time small people can require. LOL They are also the best exercise though and you have fun at the same time.

Having a hard time staying away from the Easter candy, chocolate is my weakness. Thank heavens for hot cocoa. It is my saving grace, that and chocolate oatmeal. Yumm!! Must not forget the Crustless Pumpkin PIe that I eat almost every single day.

Hi Goofy, I tried the Atkins diet and it did not work well for me but I figure we all gained the weight differently and need to lose it our own way. If it works, it works!

Karebear, I have lost and gained about 50 pounds over and over thru my life. This is the first diet (live it) that I have ever stayed on for more than a few years, just finished my first year. Have learned not to do anything on my eating plan that I cannot maintain for the remainder of my life.

Native, do you know of any Indy meets planned? Helenabear said something about one but I cannot find the thread. Would love to meet up with some of you again.

Slightly Goofy/Linda

I remember they were talking about having another meet, but I can't remember when it was supposed to be. I'll go search on the community board and see if I can find it. I hope I haven't missed it already :)

HI! Slightly goofy That is great! If tat works for you and you can maintain it that will be wonderful! That's why I find out alot of people don't like atkins because they can't stick to the way of eating! But so far i can say I've been lucky and have been able to! I did try WW previously and that didn't work for me at all! But like you said whatever works for us! Everyone has there own thing at least we are all here to support eat other no matter which way we choose to loose! Good Luck! Keep us posted!

Hi Colleen! Congratulations on your Journey to Good Health. It is never ending but can be fun along the way, especially since we have so much good company. Some of us have problems with some kinds of food and others have different tastes so it is good that there is a wide variety of diets to choose from. I enjoy the WW diet as there is nothing that I cannot have, just not all of it at the same meal. LOL

Nativetxn, looking forward to hearing from you any old time but especially if you have details on another meet. I went through the Community Board and did not find anything. We should have a seperate board for meets maybe?

The scales are looking iffy this week. I have been good although I have not walked quite as much as I did last week. I still worked out 6 out of the 7 days and feel I should be rewarded. (grin) Eating very carefully today and tomorrow so I will show a loss on Tuesday (fingers crossed). We have a challenge going where we each put 8 quarters in a container and if we lose we take out a quarter, if we gain we have to add one and whomever empties their container wins all the remaining quarters. Silly but effective.

I'm so excited to find this thread! I'm in! My husband has been begging me to do Atkins again (so he can do it too :) ) and I haven't been able to get myself to give up my yummy chips and bagels and potatoes and pastas and breads..but I'm in! We'll start soon! We did Atkins a while ago and I lost 30 pounds (and have kept off 25), and I have to admit I felt much better...more energy, no mid-afternoon tiredness. My stomach started to hurt after about 2 months though, like the food was too "hard"...maybe I should have added a few more carbs. Anyone else experience this?

I'm psyched! Thanks for doing this!

Hi Jennz, it's great to see you here. Grab your WISH member clipart. There is a great post telling you how to do that right HERE

I'm on the Atkins plan and there are several other WISHers following that plan, too.

I hope you will visit WISH often. We have a terrific support group here.
