Jennz, that is exactly why I could not stay on the Adkins diet. I lost like crazy at first but when everything got stuck in the plumbing the pain started and the weight loss stopped. The WW diet is geared toward lots of fiber and low carb also and has been easier for me but not without some plumbing problems as well but not like the other. We are all different and need different things though. Welcome and hope it goes well for you.

Nativetxn, thank you for trying to find the thread. I will contact Helenabear again since she seems to know about all the meets. Is amazing she can do anything else with all the ones she goes to but then she is a young one. LOL Did I tell you that we met last year in Columbus?

SG/Linda

Thanks for the welcomes! And lol SlightlyGoofy - I can see why you have that name! :)

I will have to add some of that clip art - I'll be sporting it next post (fingers crossed!)

Is anyone out there in West St. Louis in need of a walking buddy?

I maybe late in working on this, but I started WW on 1/21 trying to get ready for an October magical vacation. Have lost 22 lbs so far - but I'll start "fresh" today for WISHING!

Thanks!

Khuntress

Hi KHuntress. I'm so glad you have decided to join us. It's never too late to take the WISH challenge.

There is a great post telling you how to do that right HERE

Are you following a formal eating plan or will you just make healthier food choices.

22 pounds is a wonderful loss. I'm really glad you will be part of our support group now. I hope you will visit us often and please don't lurk, we need your encouragement and advice :)

How great to read about everyone's journey into weight loss!
I weigh in on Wednesday- I started planning our trip to Disney (October time) and committed myself to losing the weight I gained with three close pregnancies (Now that my youngest is almost 4!!) My goal is to fit in a size 14 swimming suit by then- then work down to a 10/12 at leisure. I'm walking 3 miles minimum of 3x a week- shooting for 5x but not likely but I'll try. Don't shoot me- but I'm doing Slim-Fast just for a month to help jump start me and keep me motivated. I'm starting back to the Y to teach my kids how to swim- and hope to add weight machines in when I can work it in. Thanks for starting this- I'll be thrilled to show before/after pictures when we take our Disney trip this year!
Tara

Hi Tara~love your name, by the way.

I'm really glad you have decided to join our happy WISH support group. I personally think the more the merrier :) WISH has been a wonderful help to me in my weight loss endeavors. Knowing that everyone here is experiencing the same challenges and frustrations and joys (any loss is a joy to me ;) ) just helps me so much. I am very grateful to Kelsie for having such a wonderful idea and putting it into practice here on the DIS.

So, now you are here with us, and it doesn't matter what eating plan you follow, whether it's WW or Atkins or Slim Fast. Just so you remain healthy and start seeing results is the only important thing.

Okay, you can't escape now, you are one of us, so don't even think about leaving WISH. Grab your clipart. There is a great post telling you how to do that right HERE.

And one more thing. No lurking allowed. I need you to post here on WISH. It helps me to see your thoughts and words. Yes, I'm a very selfish person. Oh well, we all have our little vices, that happens to be mine ;)

Welcome sweetie.

Katholyn

Thanks Native Tx for the signature update and welcome. Losing weight is a challenge- I've lost 100 pounds in 9 months during college- kept it off for 8 years- had my first child, then second, then third and I'm right back to where I was before I lost the 100! Now I'm more health conscious and not so "thin-driven" and my weight goal is 80 pounds. I lost the first 100 very safely- I did not have a car so I had to walk EVERYWHERE! I probably logged 6 miles a day easy- I had oatmeal for breakfast, two veggies and a roll for lunch from the cafeteria and 1 meat and two veggies and a roll (couldn't pass those nice bready treats) at night- the weight just melted off.
Now with a 7, 5 & almost 4 year old- it's hard to find time to walk those 6 miles- I usually end up carrying one or two- and they're too big for strollers really. So I have to walk/work-out before husband leaves for work at 7am or after he gets home at 5:30pm- but now that I have some more support from you guys- I will just think of Disney and get my rump out of bed earlier. I'm also going to take measurements- sometimes when you add a bit of exercise your weight doesn't go down but you do trim the inches!
Good luck to all of you-
Tara (love my name too- I was warned it was almost Pepper Leigh!) My sister is Ginger- and they thought it would be cute to have two spices in the family- my world would have been much different! :)

Ooh, Tara! That WISH clippie looks really good on you. Don't get too attached--you will be trading up very soon to the 5 pound loss clippie.

I had 100 pounds to lose before I started Atkins now I have 68.5 pounds left. I started January 9th, so I am pleased.

You can do this, I know you can. Just jump right in here with us.

My sister's name is Ginger. She's the only spice girl in the family, though ;)

I actually started Atkins last Monday (3/31) and have lost 7 pounds as of today!

I have an almost 4yo, and I'm still trying to lose the "baby weight":o I know I'm really going to do it this time!

I can't wait to hit the parks in Sept. in shorts and sleeveless shirts!:) -Dana

Dana! That's wonderful! How great. I wish you would post your results to our WISH check-in thread for this week. It is HERE. It is so encouraging for everyone to read that thread.

And...would you post your total loss to our DIS WISH CHALLENGE thread? It is so much fun to see how much we have all lost since taking the challenge. That thread is HERE

I follow Atkins, too. I love it!

I just checked out the weigh in page- how exciting! My weigh in is tomorrow so I'll keep you updated! Nativetxn- very impressive weight loss- could you outline a day on Atkins or anyone who's on it- it seemed while I was on it I got in a rut of eggs and bacon for breakfast, salad with turkey for lunch, and hamburger patty and green beans for dinner- can anyone share any varieties they like for meals? Thanks! This is such a neat group- I'm cheering you all on!
Tara (too cool we both have sisters named Ginger- you don't have a brother named Greg do you, nativetxn? :) that would be too weird!)

Kath has inspired me to try Atkins and accept the WISH challenge, so here I am...:) What I need most is encouragement..I have the willpower, as that is how I quit smoking 6 years ago, but since my Dh loves me anyway I look and tells me often how much he loves me, the encouragement isn't there to lose weight...

Anyway, that is my story...:)

lmhall2000 No brother named Greg :teeth:

Beanie! Thank you for the compliment but you are the one responsible for taking control of your weight loss. I just made a suggestion and you put it into practice. I'm really proud of you. Good luck with this. Check in with us everyday. You encourage us and we'll encourage you, is that a deal?

Katholyn

I'll take that challenge!! I will be starting the Atkins diet (sort-of anyway). I kind of go off on my own when I do this. I don't do well following strict guidelines. But last time I did this I lost 40 pounds. I'd like to do that again before we renew our vows at WDW. I also, am going to start stepping away from this computer and doing my Richard Simmons workout.
Julie

Welcome! That WISH member clipart looks really good on you. Welcome to our support group, it's great to see you here.

I have just announced to my family that we are palnning our trip.
I was just diagnosed with the beginning of diabetes But hey, what better incentive than a rewarding trip to disney? I am a big soda pop drinker, so to start off my diet, I switched to diet coke & others. If you knew me, you would know what a sacrifice that was. I am doing well and I am beginning to actually like it. I am ready to start getting serious about the weight loss so I can keep up with our grandaughter when we go. My goal is to loose 30 pounds in 2 years. I am going to take it slow & easy so I might be able to keep it off! Thanks for the extra incentive!
:Pinkbounc

I too am up for the challenge. This is the most I have weighed, ever. I didn't weigh this much during my four pregnancies. I am approaching the big 40 and would like to get back to my "old" self.

I think Atkins will be the change for me. I love bread, pasta and potatoes. I know I will see an improvement if I can just cut these out of my eating habits.

Well ... rather than starting tomorrow ... tonight is the night. It's never too early to begin.

Thanks!

Well completed four weeks of weight watchers diet and am now 12 pounds lighter, still around three stones to go!!!!
Trouble is I go to Disney for two weeks on Friday, How do you do disney and diet????????????
Or do you just forget it until you come back.

brendaroo Welcome to the DIS and a special welcome to WISH. Sounds like you are determined and motivated. I'm really glad you decided to join our support group.

Will you follow a formal eating plan or will you just make healthier choices? No matter what plan you follow you will find a lot of support and help here on WISH. It has been a wonderful help to me.

My husband is a type II diabetic and controls his blood sugar (finally) by eating in a controlled carbohydrate manner.

DisneyPoly You have come to the right place. You will find lots of support here on WISH. Lots of us Atkins people here, really glad you decided to join us. Check out the low carb recipes stuck to the top of this page, lots of yummy stuff there :) I hope you will stop by WISH often, and join in regularly, it helps me when lots of people participate here :)

Rain!!! Hello, my friend. Almost time for your trip, huh? I think most WISHers just do the best they can while they are on vacation. The goal, after all, is to have fun, on the other hand you don't want to jeopardize all of that hard work and gain your weight back while you're on vacation.

Interesting dilemma. We have lots of WW experts here, I imagine they have some excellent advice for you.

SIGN ME UP TOO!!!!

I have been reading for a while. I have been watching what I eat for the last week again.

I was layed off of work in January and I have gained alot of weight while am sitting around home, in between my job searching.

I could not tell you how mad I am at myself, I had lost 20lbs and gained it all back.:( urg.

I am determined to loose this weight and keep it off. I can't fit into my pants/jeans comfortably anymore and I am not buying and bigger sizes I REFUSE TO.
