Dis Mom's Club?

Hi everyone! :wave2: I just found this thread and would love to join in! I'm Colleen, mom to four. I definately have a Disney addiction that DH (Dan) has learned to put up with, especially since all four of our kids are growing into being Disney addicts as well. We are also DVC members, SSR is our home. Our DS4 keeps asking when can we go back to our Disney World house? I love that he thinks we have a house at the happiest place on earth. Now only if we could just permanently live there.

DH is an ER RN and I am a physical therapist. I work part time 3 days a week. The rest of my hours are spent running kids around and doing all the typical mom things. I also love scrapbooking and photography. Both of which work very well with my Disney addiction since I love to photograph the World and then scrap it, even though I am 3 trips behind and we are going again this November.

I'm still working on reading through the rest of the thread. I look forward getting to know some other "Disney Moms"!

Is it too late to join you, moms?

I think this thread is definitely the place for me!

I'm Stacey (31), My DH is Michael, Mike, Babe, Boo, or Hey... My DD (1 and 1/2) is Cameran.

Our first family vacation is planned for Aug. 2-7 this year. Cami's first visit!

Hi everyone!! So glad to see this tread :goodvibes

I'm Jessica (30) and DH is Brent (30). We're high school sweethearts and have been together for almost 16 years and married for the last 6 (this October). DD, Kaitlyn, is 19 months and we've gotten her on the fast track to the Disney addiction already :thumbsup2 She loves all of the princesses (she calls them 'belles', expect Aurora -- I think that's her favorite and she can say her name, lol) and of course Mickey and Minnie.

Besides my family, Disney is my other true love! Everything about it makes me smile. I can't seem to get enough of it either. The one thing we haven't done is buy into DVC -- it's on the list though, and when we do I'll be :woohoo::yay::banana:!!!!!!!

I'm a SAHM now and have been since Jan. of this year. It's something totally new to me and I'm getting used to my 'new' role in the family. I'm so glad to have found this thread!! Nice to meet everyone :goodvibes

Hi everyone. My name is Dawn (27), my DH is Ralph (also 27). We have 2 boys, Max (3) and Sam (3months) and heading to WDW for the first time September 9-23. We are also going to check out Universal, especially the Harry Potter stuff! We are also planning to go to MNSSHP. I am so excited, all I want to think, talk, dream about is Disney! lol

Happy Saturday Moms!

We are now in Cocoa Beach till Tuesday, just done at Disney! We had an amazing trip that couldn't have been more magical if we'd tried!

We even got to just WALK UP to CRT for breakfast withOUT ressies and got seated! :goodvibes There was actually a CM standing outside telling all who passed that they had seating available! :scared1: In all the times we've been there that was something I'd NEVER seen.

I'm going to try and do a trip report when we finally get home.

Have a great weekend.

I can't believe that you got to walk to CRT. That is awesome and I am sure made the trip more magical.

I would love to see a trip report when you get home.

Enjoy your time in Cocoa Beach.

:welcome: to all the new Mom's. Is is never to late to join. :grouphug:

Welcome new DisMoms!

I love long weekends with nice weather! Today definitely feels like a "bonus." We decided to skip the State Park this time and camped out in our backyard. Promising ourselves that we would not be distracted and start working on something. It's worked pretty well.
We also bought a go-cart for DS10 and he is having so much fun! We have about 3 acres so there is room for him without worrying about who he is running over.

Anyway, I really need your help!:worship: The twins birthday is on Wednesday, they will be 4. DS wants a WALL-E party and DD wants Princess or Tinkerbelle. (they are so Disney! :confused3) We already decided not to have a big family party, but I would like to invite a few friends and meet at the playground for playtime, cake and ice cream. Keep it simple!! DH thinks that we should skip it all together since they are still young.

So, my question is .... what have you done for your kids Birthday Parties? Is 4 too young for a "friend party"????? They do have friends to invite. The other thing we started when our oldest was 4 was that he could invite however many people is is old. So when he was 4, he invited 4 friends. At 10 he invited 10 friends....

So, what do you think we should do, somewhat short-notice and on a budget???

Since my DD has only had one birthday (and you don't even want to know..$$$ adult-sized rented bouncehouse, luau themed cookout, 65 guests, etc) I might not be the best person to volunteer to answer you question, BUT...

I like the idea of you taking your kids to a park or playground to meet up with 8 friends (four for each) for cupcakes and play time. Here's what you could do on a tight budget:

Make your own cupcakes- decorate half WALL-E and half Tink.
Go to (Uhg) Wal-Mart and pick up small packs of themed favors (but make your own thank you cards)
and make inviations on computer and print yourself (or postcard it- also (gag) Wal-Mart)
Use dollar store as a resource- I did and BOY luau stuff happened to be there. :yay:
Since you'd be doing cupcakes instead of cake, you don't need plates :woohoo:
I honestly think you could do this under $20.:wizard:

just a thought.:confused3

Hi Tinkermom23-- It seems like around here the new thing is to have the kids' parties at a really nice new park we have in town. The best thing about it is it's FREE! The parties my kids have gone to, they had such a great time. I really think simple is better. The kids just want to have fun with their friends. I like the idea of the kids asking as many friends as they are old, especially with twins. It won't be too overwhelming. I think a small simple party would be great, something to make the day special for them. Good luck with the planning.

Thanks camsmomE & ColleenG-

We did a huge party for them when they turned two because they were 2yrs old on the 2nd (Golden B-day) and there are 2 of them ()... It was a Mickey & Minnie party complete with my friend wearing her Minnie costume and DS10 wearing a Mickey costume. It was fun but very overwhelming and too many people.

DH has agreed to a simple party with 4 friends each, cupcakes, ice cream, & balloons. I have goodie bag things that I collected after Valentines & Halloween so we're set there. (thanks for that reminder) We bought both of them their B-day gifts when we were at Disney last month. DH wants to wait until Sunday afternoon though, which is fine.

I'll let you know how it goes!:yay:

Good luck with the Birthday Party.

I wish we were able to keep things simple but every kid that had a birthday before my daughter invited the entire daycare class of 25 kids and we did not feel that we could leave anyone out because of it. We ended up having 15 kids from her daycare plus 5 other kids (friends from other places) that ended up at the party. It was :scared1: having 22 kids (DD and DS were there as well:rotfl2:) In the end it turned out well (except the bee incident but we don't need to talk about that. :lmao:)

On another topic...we are just about 6 months out from our trip and getting ready to book our ADR's. Nothing has gone as planned so far for the trip so I am crossing my fingers and toes for the ADR's.

Hope everyone has a good rest of the week.

:tinker: Here's a little pixie dust for your ADRs !! ( couldn't find a smilie of crossing my toes :) )

Do you usually do the same restaurants or do you try new ones each time? We make a list when we get back of "things to remember for next time" and list the places we can easily skip and those that looked interesting that we should try next time.
Do you have family favs that are now a tradition?

I think dining is one of my favorite things about Disney!! :yay:

I  to eat and eat and eat at Disney. Then you can walk it all off. I never worry about what I eat when we are at Disney. I always come back a few pounds lighter. :woohoo:

Good Luck tinkermom23 with your party! We've always done some sort of party for ours from age 2 and decided with DD14 that after 10 you only get parties for big ones (13, 16 and 21...lol). We've done some at places like Chuckie Cheese but tons of them at home. This year now that I have 2 within 7 days (DD14 on May 23rd and DD3 May 30th) we did something small for the 3 yr old. Since it occurred over the Memorial Holiday we took everyone to the beach. I got her a Mickey Mouse cake from Food Lion and let her swim and play all day. :goodvibes The 14 year loves to have a dinner at Red Robin and is use to no parties at this point so we did dinner but ended up with 35 people. :scared1: My 9 yr old did have a party (Scrap Exchange place as she's an arts and crafts kinda gal) but for her 10th we are doing it big...Disney Cruise on the Dream. Figure why not go out with a bang. :lmao:

At any rate they will probably just be happy to have friends to hang with and sweets to eat. Ours always are. :goodvibes

Have fun!

Thank you for the pixie dust. I can use the magic.

We normally do some of the same restaurants and then through a different one in each time. Last time we went we added Le Cellier and will do again in the future. This time we are adding Boma.

We are going with a friend of ours and her son who will be 5 at the time. (yes that will give us a 4, 5 and 6 year old along for the trip:scared1:) This time we want to make it more about them and what they will enjoy. We are going to do Chef Mickey (which we have not done since December 08). Then CRT (her son wants to kiss all the Princesses:lmao: and this will make my DD happy as well:lovestruc) We will do Whispering Canyon (how can you not:confused3 I love this place:woohoo:). Going to try for O'hanas (have not done this in the last 6 years so it is like new). Then we are going to Boma.

We are also looking at the Pirate League for all three kiddos pirate:. Has anyone done this with their little ones? We did the BBB with my daughter for her 5th birthday and did not know how different it would be. :confused3

57 days to go and PAID IN FULL this morning!!

This is just the "up" we needed with all the "downs" lately... Cam's had three days with fever over 101. :upsidedow

Hope Cam feels better soon.

thanks so much! after I posted that we had to rush her to urgent care (just could not get that fever under control)- turned out to be a severe ear infection in both ears. She is so tough. I admire that little girl so much (and she's not even two!) I tell you, if anyone has earned a trip to WDW, it's got to be her!

Glad they were able to find the cause of her fever. My DS4 had chronic ear infections for about a year. He put up with a lot of pain and fevers. This March he got tubes put in and it was the best thing. He hasn't had an ear infection since. Hope she feels better quick.

Both my kids had tubes in their ears. They were wonderful until they came out. Both have had multiple ear infections since. They started to talk about tubes again and then the ear infections stopped. I guess the kids didn't want that again. I am sure it had something to do with not being able to swim in the Disney pools.:confused3

On another topic...

We are 179 days from our trip to Disney and we were able to get all of our ADR's. :cool1:We even got really good times for both lunch and dinner. :woohoo: :woohoo:

A little upset that Disney did not have the December calendar in their system for us to make reservations for the kiddos at Pirates League. pirate:

Good Morning DisMoms-

Well, it's another rainy day here. We have had very little sunshine the past 2 weeks. But I am sure there is a farmer somewhere around here saying... " we could use a little more rain." :rotfl2:

DS10 wants to start summer band to get a head start on fall when they officially start band. He wants to try the trombone but I am having a hard time finding a used one that is good but still on a budget. Have any of you ever bought this kind of thing off ebay? I think we are going to end up renting one until we find one to buy. But if we rent a new, shiny one and then buy him a used one, then he won't be too thrilled.

What do you guys have planned for the week????:surfweb:
