Dis Mom's Club?

Sorry I am so late but HAPPY MOTHER'S DAY to all of you beautiful, loving hardworking mother's! Many Blessings!

Hey Ladies!
Today has been an awesomely productive day!! The twins had preschool this am so I had 2 1/2 hours to get things done. Plus they both took naps wich is unusual.
I finished the last of my school work and am now officially done with Spring term. DH and I have been discussing what direction I will take with school in the fall. I really want to take a break and spend time with the kids but we'll see. I only have 18 credits left.
Anyway, I got the last of the Disney stuff sorted and packed away. Got 4 loads of laundry washed and folded! (I just need to put it away.) I have supper on and now we're going to pick up DS10 from school and bring him to piano.
Oh, and I wrapped DS3 & DD3 Birthday gifts and stuck them back in the closet. We picked up great things while at Disney, although they weren't great deals. :confused3

So, for a Monday,it's going quite well! How about you???

Putting the laundry away is my least favorite part!!

DS is down for the night and I'm watching Star Wars popcorn:: and catching up on the Dis Boards. Dishes are in the dishwasher and the table is all cleaned up, I love nights like these!! After a long day of staying home with DS who is rapidly approaching the terrible twos (he thinks he can deliberately disobey me as long as he's smiling at me) and working on our house that's in the final stages of being re-built, I'd have to say today has been a pretty productive day for me as well. I even got in a quick 30 minutes of exercising!

I hope all the Dis moms have a relaxing night!!

Good Morning all!

I hope your Monday was better then mine! I had 2 little ones being mischievous and getting into everything!:headache:

On a good note we only have 11 more days till we're at Disney!:cool1: I actually just called and added the 23rd to our ressie so DH and I can take advantage of the EMH at MK on Sunday and have some "alone park" time!:cloud9: After our Disney trip we'll be staying at DFIL's in Merritt Island for a few days and spending time with our 50-60+ relatives that live there! :dance3: Now I just need to start the :laundy: so I can some what start packing, since I have to pack for all 6 :scared:of us as I don't trust anyone else to pack what I want packed. :rolleyes1 I guess I'm alittle bit of a control freak when it comes to packing for trips. :rotfl:

Hope you ladies have a great Tuesday!

Sorry you had a rough week hope your weekend is better.

Good Morning Dis Moms!!!
Looks like we've all been busy!!

We're still in a little bit of "Disney Withdrawl" around here. Little comments like " ohhh, Mom, wouldn't a Mickey bar taste great right now?" or "If we were at Disney we'd be riding Splash Mountain."
DH said he doesn't want to go back until the Fantasyland Expansion is done. :scared1: And I can't take the kids alone, either.

Our garden tiller bit the dust and I haven't put in the garden yet. It's OK, since we are in MN it's not uncommon to plant the end of May. It's been raining for weeks and now the tiller won't work so we have to hire it done. It's cheaper than renting a tiller and doing it myself though.

8 days of school left. Of those, one is a field trip day, one is Track & Field so only 1/2 day, one is Elem. music concert so only 1/2 day, and the last day they get out at 1:00, so only 1/2 dayish.
I'd go crazy with that kind of schedule!

So, what are all you Dis Moms up to today????????:surfweb:

Good Morning Gals!

We have only 4 more days till Disney and I can't wait, the week is dragging by... That being said I have no idea how I'm going to get everything packed and ready in only 4 days! I'm working on the :laundy: but the kids keep making more. ;) Luckily, it has been rainy and not so hot, so they've been wearing jeans and not the shorts. I have my piles of stuff all over the house and none of it is making its way into the suitcases! :goodvibes I also just keep buying more stuff that we are going to "NEED" on our trip. :rotfl:

My youngest 2 are having a hard time understanding when we're leaving. They saw me getting stuff together yesterday and decided that we were leaving once Daddy got home. I had no clue this was going on in their little heads, but thought it was cute that they wanted Daddy home soooo very bad. Well, Daddy finally comes home and they rush to him yelling "Daddy you're home, now we can go to Mickey's house!"

So, now I'm off to finally get the suitcases and start putting stuff into them!

Hope you all have a wonderful week!

Good Morning Moms!! I hope everyone had a great weekend! We went to see my brother in law's college graduation on Saturday from SUNY Fredonia (upstate NY) and as soon as we got into the hotel DS ran around say "Diiissssneyyyyyyyy Wooooooooooooorld!!" We've been telling him about our upcoming trip to WDW, going on a plane, staying in a hotel and such so he must have thought since we were staying at a hotel that we were in WDW. :lmao: Sweet little boy, I felt a bit bad because we obviously weren't anywhere nearly as excited but of course he forgot about it in about 2 seconds. On our way back home we stopped at the American side of Niagra Falls for a quick trip. DS kept asking to hold the water, it was super cute!

As for today, more housework lies ahead. We only have 2 more weeks left until our house needs to be inspected so we can move in! Finally!!! Have a great day moms!

We have looked at DVC twice and been talked out of it by family members, we are going to look again, but I need to see the AKL w/the pull out bed for the 5th person in 1br.

I will have to look...we just got back in March from AKL and did the one bedroom...I might have a pick of the bed pulled out, which we used for my DD9. It is almost the size of a recliner chair in width and the pull out part is like a single bed. My daughter is very tall 4'7" and she slept very comfortably! HTH

Ok, I'm in too!

My name is Jessica, 27...making myself crazy over Disney vacations, am pretty much a SAHM, and hating it at this point after almost 5 years, I'm too busy and active to spend all my time at home..it makes me nuts, I am also a volunteer Firefighter/EMT, I work a shift or two a month, wishing I could work more. DH, Trevor, 33, works too many jobs and it makes me crazy. On top of that is a volunteer firefighter/EMT and is out the door most of the time. We have 3 children, DD9, Destiny. LOVES anything Tink! She's just like her mommy there. DS6, Dylan, Not too much into Disney anymore but he had a good time on our first trip. DS 3, Jayden, He's a Disney freak! We came home with sooo many character sets from our first trip and he still drags them around lol. We took our first Family vacation to Disney in Feb/March 2010 and stayed at AKL-Jambo House. It was incredible, and I personally think that the pics online don't do it any justice! The african music playing had me at first..didn't understand how anyone could hold a conversation with it but by the end of our first trip I didn't even notice it anymore! Actually kinda grew on me! DH had been there before but for the rest of us it was our first trip! We had a blast. We also bought into DVC before our first visit. Our home resort is BLT. While we were down there we did a tour and bought an additional 100 pts and we got a free 3 night cruise! I can't wait. Our youngest will be 4 on June 20th and I had extra points I needed to use so we are going down for his birthday! We are going to stay at SSR this time! So our next trip is June 20-23 2010, then Feb 6-11 2011, at BLT, then we are taking our cruise for my Bday August 25th 2011! This will be the first cruise for everyone! I absolutely LOVE being a DVC member.

Hi Jessica!! Welcome!! :cool1: We looove AKL, if I didn't love Disney so much I'd be bummed that we're not staying there this summer! That's awesome you're a DVC member, I've been getting more and more interested in it and I'm trying to convince DH to look into it with me!

On another note, I just want to thank you for doing what you do. In July of last year our house was completely destroyed by a fire and our local fire department is all volunteer-something I didn't realize until that day. There are so many people that don't truly appreciate what you guys do until they really need you. I don't mean to make a sad or pity post but whenever I meet a firefighter I make sure to thank them because you're brave enough to do something I don't think I could. We weren't home when the fire started but the chief said that he got there, parked his truck and went to get the rest of his protective gear and before he even got anything on there was a huge explosion and the fire just went nuts, completely destroying our home. Luckily the president lives on our street, the chief a few blocks down and the rest of the department is within minutes (all mostly within our neighborhood) so they were able to keep it contained to our house and even managed to save some of our belongings...a small percentage albeit but we didn't expect anything. One of the firefighters was briefly hospitalized for smoke inhalation, so that alone makes me even more appreciative and aware of what can happen. Everyone was so wonderful to us when we got there and we can't thank every member of every FD enough. So, thanks and welcome to the Mom's club!!

Can I jump in here too?

I'm Kimberly (41) and am a Disneyholic. (my brother seems to think there is "help" for me but do I really need it? I don't see a problem...:confused3

I'm married to my dh, Patrick (he's also 41)for 10 1/2 years and he pretends not to get the hype but I think he secretly is becoming a convert. he teases all the time but then for every holiday, birthday, I get another disney book or Disney related. He even agreed to spend 10 days on our honeymoon at the Grand Floridian. His favorite resort is the Poly...maybe one day we'll actually get to stay there:worship:

We have two daughters - who I am also converting to be Disney addicts...My oldest dd is 8 1/2 and is a total thrill seeker - will ride on any coaster, though was a bit thrown by ToT on our last trip. Her favorite princess is Ariel, though she loves them all and is a princess at heart. Side note: she is a Disney "souvenir" ;)

my youngest daughter will be turning 5 in July. Though she wasn't really thrilled with the princesses on our last visit 2 years ago, she has decided she wants to see Jasmine and Cinderella. Though she is and always will be a die hard Lightning McQueen and Mater fan.....

I've been on countless day trips to Disney (since my grandparents moved to Florida back in 1982 - I was about 12 then). Though I think my true obsession started the first time I stayed on Disney property (CBR) in 1992 - stayed at CBR three more times after that, then GF for honeymoon, POFQ and the last two times, we stayed at POR.

Hoping to make another trip next year and if everything goes well, I would love to stay at AKL or WL. If not, we'll be back to CBR :goodvibes

On a random, non WDW note, I'm browsing the Victoria's Secret website to look for some pants because they have extended lengths that fit me, which can be hard to find (I'm 6') and I'm just wondering how many women stand with their butt waaay out, stomach sucked in, and chest waaay out? :rotfl: Its comical to me the way that this website/catalog is made for women but looks like its marketed towards men. I'd never want to be a VS model because I'm afraid I'd have a gigantic chiropractor bill all the time!!! :lmao:

You mean you don't stand this way every day? :lmao:

Welcome Jessica and Kimberly!

Ok now for a small vent! We leave for Disney on Friday after school. 2 weeks ago I sent a note to let the teachers know we'd be gone and to ask for school work to hopefully be sent home this Friday. DD12 is in the 6th grade, middle school here and DS11 is in 5th grade, different schools but in the same district. DD12's teachers said "ok, just remind us closer to time." DS11's teachers (he has 3) said nothing. I figured all was good and sent a reminder note with both on Monday this week. DS11 comes home saying "Ms. XXXX said "Well you do know that you can't make up your work if your absent?" Well, NO I didn't know this, since its never been a problem before and you didn't say anything 2 weeks ago when I first sent you a note about it!!! So, I emailed the teacher that night asking "Why and if this was standard procedure." This same teacher has yet to fix his grades for 2 different subjects from when he was sick a few weeks ago. He has 0s even though I know he made up the work... I'm just so frustrated! I more expected this from DD12's teachers since its middle school.

Side Note- This is a school of mainly Military children, so I know DS isn't the only kid that has missed school for vacation this year or ever... In the Military you take it when you can and next week is when DH can, he actually leaves within a few days of us getting back. This is the ONLY time that we can take a vacation as a WHOLE family as DS11 and DD4 (my step-kids) leave to go back the their mom's in July and we won't see them again until next summer!

I am still waiting for this teacher to email me back and to see if DS's other 2 teachers send his work with him.

VENT OVER! I hope you all have a great day!

If it is an "excused" absence by school absences, isn't it illegal to prevent make-up work/not allow points? Why must some teachers act that way? There is nothing that will happen in class that is more important than your family spending time together (at the Happiest Place on Earth, even more!!!).
GOOD LUCK!

Welcome Jessica and Kimberly!

Happy Saturday Moms!

We are now in Cocoa Beach till Tuesday, just done at Disney! We had an amazing trip that couldn't have been more magical if we'd tried!

We even got to just WALK UP to CRT for breakfast withOUT ressies and got seated! :goodvibes There was actually a CM standing outside telling all who passed that they had seating available! :scared1: In all the times we've been there that was something I'd NEVER seen.

I'm going to try and do a trip report when we finally get home.

Have a great weekend.
