Dis Mom's Club?

Hi Ladies!

It is freezing here this morning! I think we might just stay in today because I don't want to go out in the cold. Plus they said something about snow. Only in Cleveland!

I am wondering how many of you are DVC members?? I'm planning out vacation for 2011 and I don't want to wait that long to find out more about the DVC. I know my mom bought into it but my dad sold it before we had our daughter. I've been on the DVC website but it doesn't give full details about the points and the cost. Does anyone have any good information or a link to where I can find it?

Thank you! :)

Sorry about the weather! It will just make you appreciate the warm summer when (and it will!) finally comes. :flower3:

I think there is a lot of info on the DVC boards here. Also, if you don't mind lurking.... the DisDads talk about DVC and can probably answer your questions. They seem to know what they are talking about :confused3

:rotfl2: :rotfl2: :rotfl2:

Enjoy your "inside day!"

I thought surprising both DH and the kids, as well as his family, would be a hoot. I'm just wondering if I can pull it together and pay for it in two months' time. :scared1:

We'll see - I may just have to plan a fairytale wedding for our next Disney trip. ;)

YES! That would be SO fun!! We'll help you plan!! :cool1:
Like they say.... JUST DO IT!!

Hello fellow Clevelander - we are in Twinsburg. Talk about this crazy weather. Mid-80's on Tuesday and today we are in the 30's.

Yes, crazy! I just took the dogs outside and can't believe how cold it is. My husband keeps telling me we are due for one more snow storm. He says it always snows on his birthday which is the April 26.

What a great thread!

My name is Julie and my husband is Ben. We have only been married a year and a half and our honeymoon was my husbands first Disney trip EVER! However, we bought into DVC 6 months prior to that trip and have already added on one time. Yes that's right, he bought into DVC and made a 50 year commitment to vacationing there without ever visiting himself. He said that the way my eyes sparkle when I talked about it, it had to be awesome. He fell in love on that first trip and we are making our 4th trip there this September. We're staying at the Boardwalk for the first time. Kidani is our home resort.

I am a HUGE Disney girl. So much so I almost leaped across the table when my brother-in-law's snotty ex girlfriend said at dinner one night "what would possess you to go to that stupid place after the kids grow up?" Don't mess with my happy place.

We have two kids. My son is from a previous marriage. His name is Justin and he is 11. He refused to go on the last two trips as well as our upcoming September trip, but has agreed to tag along on my dad/sister's trip in November. I guess Disney is much cooler with your aunt and grandpa then your mom, sister, and step-dad.

Our daughter is 3 going on 15 and has an opinion on everything. She is a princess at heart and can't wait to get back to Disney. She is going to the BBB for the second time this trip and will tell anyone that will listen about it and that she is going to get the Tiana dress this time. She's very stoked! princess:

Welcome to everyone and thanks for starting this thread.

I would not be surprised to see more snow. My oldest DS will be 9 on April 26.

Only in Ohio, huh? We are in the Columbus area. I was just thinking this morning how crazy it was that a few days ago people were complaining how hot it was and some were turning their a/c on (it was about 78 in my house, while about 85 outside without the a/c on), and last night I had to put the heat on just in case it got cold since it was in the 30's. It's in the 40's here today.

Oh and it better not snow again!!! :rotfl: Tell your DH to bite his tongue!

Welcome Julie!!

I have to take my oldest son to the dr today :sad1: His allergies are really bad and his eyes are so red and itchy and swollen it looks like he has black eyes. He is on allergy meds AND prescription eye drops and they aren't working. He is only 3 and it's this bad. Last spring it was pretty bad too, but the eye drops helped clear up the eye issue, this year, it's not working. I feel so bad for him. He will even sit on the couch with an ice pack on them for relief. The pollen has been so bad here, I just hope it passes quick. So that's my day...what fun!

Hi everyone,

I am having a difficult time planning our Disney cruise and no one at work is of any use. None of them understand my very small obsession with Disney and none of them have kids...so when I mentioned a cruise they suggested I leave the kids at home.:scared1: Knowing that would never happened I informed them that that it would be a Disney cruise (duh) So, I knew that I could turn to you girls for advice.

Has anyone been on a Disney cruise? If so, would you recommend the inside stateroom or the ocean view? I have heard that you do not spend that much time in the room but the ocean view looks soooooooooooo nice.

Also, would the recommendation be for the 3 or 4 day?

As some info to help make the decisions my DD will be 6 for the trip and my DS would be 4.

I appreciate any advice you can give me.

We've been on the disney cruise a few times. The last time was with the boys when they were 6 months. We have always purchased an inside stateroom. When the boys were 6 months we did it to get a bigger room but not pay a huge amount. However on that trip we got upgraded to an ocean view and it was nice - however don't know that it was worth paying extra for you are in the room so little. The rooms are fairly big for a cruise ship. We were able to fit two pack-n-plays in our stateroom, and still had a little room to move around - just know it is going to be tight no matter what it is still a cruise.

I would say a 4 day - we went on the 3 day and it felt so short. The next time we did 3 days at WDW and 4 days on the cruise.

Let me state up-front that DH and I are travel agents (well, I mostly help him with background stuff and only have a couple of clients of my own) and we specialize in Disney. I don't want anyone thinking I'm making business-building comments here on the sly.

We've been on one Disney cruise and are booked for the Dream in February. For the first one, we had an outside verandah cabin and really enjoyed it. For the Dream we're in one of the new inside cabins with the virtual porthole. If you haven't seen it before, this is what it looks like: blog post That said, I wouldn't hesitate to cruise in an inside cabin on a Disney ship, especially if you go for the larger Deluxe inside cabins. We toured the Wonder in January during our graduate agent education program trip and those inside cabins are much nicer than any I've cruised in or seen on another line. Just remember that one of you at least will be in the cabin for naps and once the littles go to bed. I don't think any oceanview helps much in that area, but a verandah would IF you're the type to want to sit out there while the kids sleep.

Now, as for the length of cruise, definitely the 4-night! The 3-night is just too short. You're arriving, you're spending 2 days, then you're leaving. The 4-night adds an at-sea day and that day makes all the difference in the world *to me*. My ideal Bahamian cruise with Disney would be the 5-night Double Dip at Castaway Cay!

We are DVC owners but just of a few points that we bought from a reseller. Our plan is to get our feet wet and see if we like it AND the points were only enough for a 1-night(ish) stay before our "regular" vacation package starts. So if we start our Magic Your Way vacation on Monday, we'd drive down on Sunday and stay at the DVC so we get the most out of our package. Of course, this year because of the actual DVC points we bought, we have 60 points to use up before October so at the end of the month we'll be using those as our regular vacation and using a normal hotel (WL club level) as our pre-vacation stay, plus we added an additional day! Yeah, we got that one backwards, LOL!

I really don't know much about how the DVC works but the DVC board here at the DIS is amazing.

This will be quick as I am at work but needed a break before I smashed this computer. :badpc: I can add more later if you would like.

My DH and I bought into the DVC a few years back and LOVE it. My parents owned it before they moved to Florida and sold it. My DH and I were upset by this and decided to buy our own points. I keep telling my DH that I plan to add on additional points in the future and he has not told me no.

The DVC has allowed us to go to Disney 2 times a year and stay in amazing resorts that we would not be able to do without the membership.

A good place to start is going to:

Hello to all the new moms on the thread!!

Pixiedustmomma- I sent you a PM with my phone number to call me if you want to chat about DVC. The boards are a great resource but sometimes one aspect can lead to several follow up questions. Feel free to call me, I'd like to help out.

Kimberly Hill- good to know that you can help out with booking a Disney cruise. I am in the initial phases of planning one for sometime next year. I'd like to get in touch with you off-line to get more info, if that's possible. Thanks!

Hello all! Just popping in to say hello and welcome all the new moms!!

We have been way busy with our rental home as the basement over there flooded with all this darn rain. :(

I hope to have more time to keep up once we get this all fixed up.

Well the day has come and way sooner than I thought it would but today Erin said............ "I hate you!" Twice!!! I was in shock, she's only 3 and a half. She had been jumping on the couch and was warned several times and while I was on a quick call she of course went back and did it again. Well after I hung up I gave her the punishment that I warned her about.. being sent to her room and no TV and that's when it happened. Plus she slammed her bedroom door. She instantly felt bad and of course started saying "no no I love you Mommy" Everything is good now but I can't help but think that this was very upsetting and I think very young to have happened, I thought only teenagers spoke this way. Just wanted to reach out to my dis mom squad for feedback.... Thanks!

Oh ~ I so totally been there. I think Mena was maybe three the first time she told me I ruined her life. *sigh* little girls are so dramatic.

I didn't think the door slamming would start until about 14 ~ yeah ~ hahahaha 3! It starts at 3!

:grouphug: Ohhh, I'm sorry!
I have 3 yr olds and luckily haven't heard it from them yet but I do remember when DS10 was younger and said those dreaded three-little-words! After I punished him I went to the bathroom and cried. DH told me to toughen up but it was hard!

Even though we KNOW they didn't really mean it, we FEEL horrible! Maybe tonight you can tuck her in and spend an extra minute or two... it helps me when I've had a bad day.

I didn't have the "I hate you" from my DD15 till she was older (not yet from the other 2 though DD8 has her own kind of drama by saying she hates her life when she is asked to clean :confused3.) But at any age it hurts! I hate now that my oldest is a teenager that when she says it I think she means it. Not forever I know, but in that moment she does and that breaks my heart. I recently got called the B word by her and I was sick over it. I have NEVER used that word for my mom to even hear me speak it let alone directed to her so that really broke my heart. It is not easy being a mom. I know it doesn't help much but it happens to most of us at some point I'm afraid.

It was freezing here in Indiana also! I was not expecting to have to scrape the frost off of the windows of my car this morning! :scared1:

ohhh I am not ready for that day! :grouphug:

My day has been pretty quiet...an inside day since it is too cold to take the baby out! I see a trip to Lowe's in my future....my two year old decided to make his escape today! We were in the kitchen when he saw the high school cross country team running through the open space behind our house, and within a second he had the back door unlocked and open (which I did not know he knew how to unlock ) He took off running after a group of about 10 high school kids yelling "wait guys, Kyle comming too!" He did not get far....but first thing tomorrow we are off to Lowe's to find a different lock! He is never out of my sight, but he is so fast, and it worries me that he will run into the woods/pond that are not far behind our house! You would think that with those short little legs they would be a little slower! Well ladies off to cook dinner! Have a great weekend!

Well this has been a sucky day. Started out with the boys having eye dr appointments (they were preemies, and we missed the 6 month appointment, this was the next available that this dr had  it was uneventful, then on the way home Bug started screaming in the car very unusual for him. Got home and he has 104 fever. Gave him tylenol it only went down to 103 - went to the dr and he might have a urinary tract infection but the only way to get a correct diagnosis at this age is to do a cath - so we are going to avoid that for now and wait and see if he gets better. These poor boys never get just a simple cold it's always something major with them.
