Wow! You all have been busy!!

Let's tackle the easiest thing first: CamColt. Pack shorts. Or light capris. No jeans. The sunshine was wonderful and the shade will cool you down just perfect. We needed sweatshirts after about 8 or 9 pm.

Fireworks are always awesome. More crowded than I thought it would be but certainly cleared right out after fireworks. Ryan discovered Big Thunder Mtn. Railroad. So we rode that like a bazillion times. She tried Tower of Terror and I will say she is not a big fan. picture leaving the ride in tears But at least she tried it.

Did the Princess Fantasy Faire. Which Cam, I am sure your boys will not bother with, while it was cute and all, the forcing you into line to meet whichever princess happens to be there and then cleverly exiting you into the princess costume and accessory corner I thought sucked. Part of Disneylands charm for me is wandering around and "bumping into" whichever characters you find hidden about the park. But they have kind of taken the WDW approach and you can find only certain characters at posted times at one location. And imagine your little princess really wanting to see Cinderella. Head over to Fantasy Faire, wait in line for up to an hour and a half, get behind the cleverly designed wall, to find....Aurora. I think that kinda sucks.

Did not do the new Nemo ride. The shortest line we saw all weekend was 60 minutes. Not gonna happen. In fact, not sure we rode anything in Tomorrowland and than Buzz Lightyear. But the single rider line for California Screamin' is pure genius!! We let the kids run around in the Redwood Creek Parents Rest Area.:thumbsup2 The boys will definitely dig that.

Dinner at Blue Bayou rocked.

Did not get "dreamed" however. That would have been cool.

Asked if we could go back. DH said something about having a cruise to pay for.:confused3 Killjoy.:rotfl2:

Not glad to be home. Its cool, breezy and overcast here. Oh and Ryan got up last night crying that her stomach hurt. Then threw up.:headache:  So we are watching movies and playing board games and doing laundry. But best friend did bring me a latte!!:thumbsup2 Of course I think she really only wanted the antenna balls I brought back for her.

OK guess it's "Milo and Otis" time. Heavy sigh.

Will post pictures later.

:wave2: Hi! Welcome back!

That weather sounds PERFECT - CamColt - you are gonna have a blast! Maybe next time we want a "quick" weekend we should try CA?! Is that too far for 4 nights?!:confused3 DS DOES always ask when we can go back...

DH is convinced we will never be "dreamed" either 'cuz we're always bickering!:rotfl: :p

Sorry, but WHO are Milo & Otis?

Sorry Ryan's  Hope she's doing better by now!

Antenna balls!:rotfl2: I don't have an antenna...but if I did I would have balls!:yay:

OH, and the first time DS did TOT he didn't want to go back again for 2 or 3 days. Then after he thought about it he asked to go back & now it's one of his top 3 or 4 rides ALWAYS!:thumbsup2 You must use the old falling off a horse analogy next time!!

Speaking of paying for the cruise...we need to work on our taxes this weekend (yes, Cheri - we hope to get a refund - that is always our vacation stash!! I let my favorite Uncle, Sam hold onto it for me so I don't squander it on foolish things like Captain Morgan!:) )

I don't have enough funds budgeted for all of these excursions!! My vacation $ spending envelope is like WAY short of being able to cover all this stuff...What to do...what to do... I posted a thread asking opinions on these goofy excursions...nobody's answering much. :rolleyes1 Will one of you guys go answer me?! Please? :lmao:

Hi - me again...just more obsessing...and relaying of information.

So I called the toll free number for the Comfort Suites. The kid verified the $215 internet rate - but they got all kinds of extra charges (pp, energy, taxes etc). The Tues 7/22 rate is a little less than the Sat. 7/26 rate...kids 12 & under are free - max. 4 pp per room... Anyway, I think the rate for the Tues (for the 3 of us) ends up about $263 and the Sat. rate would be around $293ish (I'm rounding a little). He said there were only 9 rooms left at those "internet rates" for either date. He couldn't tell me how the 3:00 check-in thing would work. He suggested I call the hotel directly. So, I call them. The lady I got said booking directly with the hotel is a 2 night minimum. I don't see anything online right now about this 2 n. minimum. So I said I'm not interested in 2 nights, only the wrist bands...she said if we get there at say 10:00 we go to the desk to check-in and ask for a "pre-check-in" in order to get the ID's etc. But she didn't believe me about the website not saying 2 n. min. - she was pretty insistent about that. The first kid I talked to said they take a credit card guarantee & would have to cancel by 5 days ahead to avoid being charged.

Who thinks what about this plan?! Book safely thru DCL for roughly $200 less and get the "light lunch" and transportation included or try to save a buck and "deal" with this mess!?!?!?!?:confused3

OK

wanna feel sick to your stomach??

The house across the street has been empty since summertime. The guy paid around $740K for it about a year before that. Anyhow, he up and just walked away from it giving it back to the bank. We don't miss him.

It was listed with a realtor briefly then nothing until this weekend. The bank has relisted the property.

3200 sq ft., 5 bd, 3 bath, large lot for the area with a pool and spa, 3 car garage.

$340K

 :scared1:  :scared: ill smiley followed by pass out smiley

a 50% loss to be taken by the bank. Can you say things aren't good here in CA suburbia land!?

All we can hope for is a bidding war. Or that TZM and Ophie decide now is the time to buy in CA!

And good new neighbors. But at that price....it will most likely end up a rental.:sad2:

Annie - I answered you on your other thread.:thumbsup2 I say we wait for Travel Zoo to give me what I asked for and book the Atlantis deal when it shows up. However, if kids are free.....and they kid you talked to first does not hold fast to the 2 night rule....we book it together and split the wristbands!!:teacher:  I don't know. That leaves us a wristband short as I think there is a 5 person limit right?? Although you say 4 person. So??? I know there is another thread where people have made this work. I am just not sure I want to work so hard to have fun on vacation.

Know what I mean!?:confused3

:scared1: Wow! And I thought things were bad here (slipping in our neighborhood from $800-900K down to mid $600's-$700!) NEVERMIND that a lot of us paid like mid $300's 8 years ago! It's the people who bought in the past few years that are really getting hurt!

:goodvibes I saw! We really could be cousins I think! :rotfl2:

I am going to talk to DH...If it's just a credit card guarantee I might just reserve it for now to know that I have it.....but I'm still not 100% comfy with it...but there's time to cancel... CamColt...prob. looking at the Tues rather than the Sat to save the $30! We'll see...

A tornado touched down in Ft. Laud. last night with damage but no one was hurt. The lightning was terrible and one was so close it set off a bunch of car alarms in my parking lot.:scared1: :scared1: I nearly jumped out of the bed because it sounded like it was right outside my bedroom window. It rained most of the day but the sun came out about 5:00pm.

Anne - stay safe.

I was reading about the tornado that touched down in Cocoa Beach also.:scared1:

I am afraid the east is in for some wacky weather as these storms move across the US.

:goodvibes I saw! We really could be cousins I think! :rotfl2:

You know I have been working on geneaology....what is your maiden name again!?:rotfl: Where do y'all come from??

Virginny right? Maybe not then. I have mostly PA and NJ on mom's side and OH on dad's side.

Well, at this point, I don't see us moving to CA anytime soon. My job is unfortunately, currently firmly planted in south Florida. Hopefully that will change.

It is pretty sad that people are getting killed by the devaluation of housing. I think that it is also pretty bad that people still think that their houses are worth anywhere near what they for sold in 2004-2005. The WSJ had an article about how something like 35%-50% of people still think that their homes are worth at least the 2005 price. Another 15% on top of them think think that their house appreciated in the past year. I guess its a new kind of fantasyland.:sad2:

I guess its a new kind of fantasyland.:sad2:

:lmao: :rotfl2:

Sad but true. But hey, its OK, you can just give your house back to the bank. So thats well and good. Then just rent someone elses. It's cool. Unless your landlord defaults on his home loan and then you end up homeless. That would be bad.

How are the dealerships doing?? I know Tracy Chevrolet just basically shut its doors. Only current contracts for sales or service were being honored. Don't know if the partners defaulted or just wanted out??:confused3 Pretty scary. And Fremont Ford either is downsizing or something. I heard they are moving from the Auto Mall. Tis not good.

On to happier things...Neil wants to wait on the DVC market. He is thinking summer might be the time to buy a resale and then start adding on!:thumbsup2 YAY for me!! Maybe we will be neighbors! Think I am going to start with HHI.

HHI is an awesome property! I took Ophie by there on return home trip from North Carolina. I love it there. The theming is great and it is just a place away from everything. I love HHI because of the things to do there. Ummm...Shop, golf, fish, sail, eat, drink, eat, do nothing on the beach. Yeah. It's pretty cool. And, its close to Savannah and Charleston.

 :woohoo:

This confirms my thinking!! Waiting for my DVC DVD to help convince the DH.

Must call your Guide Contact Dude and ask him some questions!!

Have done some thread searching:

People who have done the Comfort Suites thing use this link:

http://www.smartertravel.com/hotel/mb.php?id=1417

to book out for a better rate?? Most people say they do this without incident and the 2 night minimum is a seasonal thing or at least a "depends on who answers the phone" thing.

I will keep you posted for a travel zoo special. The last one I got was for spring but you never know...maybe one will show up.

Hello From The Frozen Tundra in The Northeast,

Just letting everyone know that we are finally thawing out up here, it started to snow here about 2:30pm yesterday, then turned to ice about 11:30pm through 6am, then finally turned to rain sometime this afternoon, it was brutal getting to work this morning, I HATE THE NORTHEAST WINTERS, but I still LOVE NEW YORK, I tried living in another state but , the only great thing to come out of it was I met my Linda. What is the old saying you can take the boy out of the city , but you can't take the city out of the boy..... Can't wait for the cruise

:firefight Where's Rick when you need him? :rotfl2:

:rolleyes1 I smell smoke..........

go to kitchen, look into oven:

UM! it's on fire!!!!!!!!!!!!!

Bob gets fire extinguisher... pulls pin, fire

oven fire out.

:confused3 Call is in to appliance repair guy... can we still use oven??

Still have to have a sense of humor, whatcha gonna do ;)
