Dinner Shows in Orlando

We've decided to do a dinner show in Orlando. Can anyone reccommend one which won't be a let down. We did Buffalo Bill's at Disney Paris and really enjoyed it.

The Dolly Parton Dixie Stampede always gets a good write up on these boards, we have booked to do this during our Christmas trip. We have also booked the Disney Spirit of Aloha show for NYE as we wanted something to do on NYE that avoided the parks, but have no idea of people's opinions of that one.

NYE 2003 we did Disney's Hoop Dee Doo dinner show which was good fun, lots of audience participation and hard working actors/singers and plenty of food. Whilst I did enjoy it I wouldn't rush to do it again.

Pirates Dinner show tends to get mixed reviews on these boards.

Pirates Dinner show tends to get mixed reviews on these boards.

Yeah I agree with that. People on here were both positive and negative about this particular show before we went on our trip. We were, in the end, highly disappointed by the food, the service and the show in general, with the exception of the lady playing the 'evil pirate lady' (forgot her name). So I think that show depends highly on the night you go and the server you get!

In the past, we've done Wild Bills, which was good, although it is now closed down. The other one we did was Arabian Nights, and again we were disappointed with the show/food. We debated over doing Dolly Parton and Pirates, but Pirates won out. Now, we're thinking maybe Dolly would have been a better choice!

Since we're hopefully staying onsite next year, we're going to avoid all the dinner shows, and are instead going to stick to the dinner shows at some of the Disney hotels!

Given the choice of the two shows, Dolly Parton or Pirates, which would most people choose? My son John, will be 6 and likes Pirates. Will we be disappointed with the food and show? I am reluctant to spend money on a show that will disappoint.

Your 6 year old son is likely to enjoy Pirates. You may not be as impressed with it (or the food, which is standard dinner show fare), but he will probably have fun. Lots of yelling for your Pirate, lots of pirates swinging overhead onto the pirate ship, lots of good 'boy stuff'.

I do second the motion for Dixie Stampede as a great show for all the family (though there may be some 'slow moments' for your son, especially during the singing portions), with far better food than most dinnner shows. Having said that, someone nearly always posts about the possibility of getting sawdust in your food from the arena floor, but that ISN'T the case at Orlando's Dixie Stampede (where the seating is raised far too high for that to occur, even in the front rows). If you are traveling during the Christmas season, Dixie Stampede also does a wonderful holiday show. Imagine angels singing on high, followed by ostrich races and pot-belly pig races! That's the sort of thing you'll get at Dixie Stampede's holiday show.

You can be sure anything Dolly gives her name to will be of the best quality. Imagine the bad press she'd get if it didn't come up to scratch!! Dixie Stampede gets my vote every time!!

Our group visited Dolly Partons and Pirates in May 2006.

The general opinion was Dolly's was top class even the food, Pirates was good (niece of 8 is pirate mad) but nowhere near the standard of Dolly's.

So for our vote Dixie stampede it is.

Thanks for the replies. I am still unsure but I guess what we'll do is play it by ear and squeeze one in on a free night. I suppose we all have the same thought that 2 weeks is not long enough! Our main priority is Disney, evrything else is a bonus. we will probably let the boss, John, decide.

We did the Pirates Dinner the night before our WDW Wedding. Because we were stupid enough to wear our wedding ears, I got dragged up on the stage several times, so much so that it actually spoiled the night.
I had absolutely no idea what was going on with the story, one minute I was watching and drinking a beer, the next I was on the stage with a rope around my neck...what was that all about? Then I was running around pulling flags up and getting dressed up as a Pirate.
I had to ask the rest of the party what the heck was going on !! And I was well and truly knackered !
