Do we need to have hard copies of anything regarding Covid ?

Coming from Montreal, I we all have our VaxiCode app ready with our vaccine passports. I'm assuming when we get our testing done, we'll get an email with our results. Is that enough for US customs? ( and Canadian customs on our return ). Or do we need a printed copy?

QC government allows you to download a pdf proof of your vaccines for use outside QC (different from Vaxicode). That is what I would use when traveling outside QC. You could show the pdf from your phone or print them.

But do I need to? Can I just show the proof inside vaxicode. The reason I ask is we're a pretty big family/group traveling together. I want to make sure everyone's got what they're supposed to. We definitely all have our vaxicode. But other than that..

You could but I wouldn’t risk it. When we went to Niagara Falls last fall some places wanted to see our pdf file, not a QR code from an app they didn’t know anything about. That QR is only designed for QC and you need a specific app developed from the gvt to read it. I would only travel with the pdf with the Canadian flag on it. That is the only official document we have to prove our vaccination status outside the province. Yes it’s an additional hassle but why risk having issues at the border for that when there are so many other things that can go wrong?!?

If your flying, you have to upload copy of your vaccine at check in, and in ArriveCan App. So you will need a PDF copy.

I will have printed out copies of our vax status anyway because I would rather have over prepared than something not accepted, but the VaxiCode app does have a “travel details” button that brings up the info and has the Quebec and Canada header so I would think it should be accepted?

I think you're probably right for going DOWN. But as others have pointed out ( and I just validated ) , the ArriveCAN app wants a picture OR PDF copy ... so I guess it's best to have a downloaded PDF ( and probably even printed ) copy.

Thanks everyone!
