Dieting for Disney

Wow! You guys are amazing! I applaud you all for such great work. :cheer2: I haven't been able to post much lately, partly because there wasn't much to share. I was fighting allergies and a cold with cough so bad that I wasn't able to do much of any excersing for most of two weeks. So while I have not lost any extra weight or inches, I must say that I am proud of myself because I did not gain anything either! :thumbsup2

I am getting hard and down on myself though because I am down to 3 weeks before we leave for our Disney vacation, and I still can only fit into 1 pair of shorts. Well, I guess that's not entirely true. I can fit comfortably in 1 pair of shorts. There are 2 others that I can button, but that's it! Don't ask me to do much of anything while wearing them. So, I am really trying to figure out how to quickly lose the icky weight around my midsection. I really can't afford new clothes, especially when I don't want to buy "fat clothes" -- I really want a "skinny" shopping spree! :teeth:

Blessings to you all and keep up the good work! You are so encouraging!

First of all, Welcome Back Pixiemagic!! So glad to hear from you again. I know it's "crunch time" for you but you still have time to make a difference before your trip, don't get discouraged..get motivated! Pick a pair of shorts you really like that don't fit (or don't fit well) and make a challenge to yourself to get into them before you go. A few tips that will help you see immediate results...cut out as much salt and sugar from your diet as possible. Prepare all fresh veggies and lean proteins with no salt. Eat at least 5X per day; lean protein and green vegetables. Drink 100oz of water per day. If you do this for 5 days you will see results. You can continue eating healthily (is that a word :confused3 ) after you cannot take anymore. This worked wonders for me and I had great energy. Don't give up, YOU CAN DO IT!!

Well it's Thursday night and I feel absolutely terrific! I used a Christmas gift for the 1st time today; 1 month unlimited tanning for our trip. Don't get too crazy, they have really great beds now and no fear of skin cancer.

Anyway, I have been waiting to use this for over 4 months and been looking forward to this day more than I can tell you. By using this gift, I knew we were about a month away from DDay (departure day). I'm so excited, I could just bust!

I did a fantastic workout today; 70 mins on elliptical, level 7..burned 1076 calories, but more importantly got my heart rate over 160 for over 40 mins. WHEW, I was sweaty and tired, but darn it, I DID IT!! I then did my arms, abs and hips. I was seriously worn out :guilty:

Tomorrow I am taking DS4 on DS8's field trip to the Denver Zoo. I cannot wait! I finally get to exercise and do something fun at the same time. No gym tomorrow, but I will be back on Saturday.

I hope everyone has had a super week so far, we're almost to the weekend, let's stay focused and strong!! :yay:

PixieMagic - It is great to here from you again. I am sorry to hear that you have been under the weather. Every once in a while, that happens to all of us. I am glad you are feeling better now. So you are down to about 3 weeks before your trip, may I just say that I am jealous. I agree with everything that lionqueen said about your diet, I would like to add some exercise tips though. Try to do 3-4 days worth of exercise per week. I can't remember if you are able to go to a gym or not but either way, it doesn't matter. You can still do a lot of great exercises either way. Try to do 30 - 45 minutes worth of cardio during those days. Spend the first couple of days getting your legs and endurance back. What I mean by that is to not go full blast on the intensity levels. After you get your endurance back up, try this routine. Spend the first 5 minutes of cardio warming up. Then, sprint for one minute, walk for two minutes, sprint for one minute and so on. During the sprinting, you really want to try to go as hard as you can. It doesn't matter if you are doing this on a treadmill, eliptical, ARC Trainer or even a track. This is an amazing cardio workout. Also, if possible, try doing your cardio first thing in the morning on an empty stomach. This will enable you to burn stored fat for energy instead of what you have been eating all day. I hope this helps. Also, one last thing. Make sure to hit those abs with crunches, leg raises, twists or whatever you can do.

kidsmom - I really hope those tips help. You know one thing that you could do is to over the weekend, cheat like crazy. Eat whatever you want and as much as you want. Doesn't sound like dieting advice but what may have happened is that your system has become used to the dieting that you have been doing. Now, what you need to do is "shock" your system and then come Monday, get back on it and be strict. That has worked for me in the past. It may work for you as well.

lionqueen - That was a great cardio workout. I know how it feels to be able to accomplish that sort of feet. It sounds like you have a very nice day planned for tomorrow with the boys. That's great. I am sure it will be a welcomed change of pace. You have been doing phenominal already loosing 30 pounds and you have been an emotional leader on this thread as well. I hope you have a great day tomorrow.

The week is almost over and so is the month. This brings up two items. Number 1 - How many of us have been doing their cardio everyday this week? Only a couple of days left. Can we make it.
Next is the end of the month. How much weight have we lost as a group for the month of April? It appears that we are all getting very close to our D'Day so yes, we are all somewhat in a "crunch" time. Some people may do better when the pressure is on. Others might get a little worried that they won't make their target. Either way it goes, we are all healthier than we were at the beginning of the month. Remember what lionqueen said. She was disappointed with the fact that she had only lost 19 lbs in weight but had lost over 25 pounds of bodyfat. You are replacing your weight with muscle. Don't forget that.

Hope you have a great day tomorrow. :grouphug: :woohoo:

Thanks Bubba and thelionqueen for the advise. If I am truly honest with myself, I know that I have sabotaged myself by cheating more with pop and Easter candy! I will be at a conference all weekend, so it is my plan to jump start things again first thing Monday morning.

As for the excersing, I have a total gym at home that I love working out on. I was doing 2 days (1-hour each) of weights, 1 day (20 minutes) of cardio, then repeat with Sundays off as my cheat day. I also do my excercising before I eat breakfast so at least I know that I am doing something right!

Well, I should get going so that I can get more things done. Again, thanks for your encouraging words. It truly has helped!

Hi guys! I feel like I've been doing really great this week! MY DD started riding the bus to school yesterday (she is autistic & attends an early intervention preschool). It didn't go very well yesterday & I was really stressed for her. She cried & screamed...needless to say I was not looking forward to this morning. But today she kept saying "want school bus" & when it got here she barely kissed me goodbye, marched right on, found her seat & let the driver buckle her in! The teacher called me after she got to school & said that the ride went great & everything was fine! I am over the moon!!!

Anyhow...I have done my cardio every day, and my points have been right on track. We even went to Chuck E Cheese last night & I only had 2 slices of pizza...major will power for me there!

It seems that everyone here will be going on their trips soon...am I the only one who has to wait until December? Will I be left all alone in my weight loss efforts after you guys go on your trips? Noooo...please don't leave me!! I feel like I have finally found a really friendly, great support group...much better than any old WW meeting!

I weigh in tomorrow...I'll let you know how it goes!

Allison

BlondeAlligator - Even though my trip is in June, I will stay here on this thread as long as all of you want to keep it going. The whole point I had with this in the beginning was to give people a place to share and get (or stay) motivated in achieving and maintaining a healthy lifestyle. So you can count on me throughout the duration.

Pixiemagic - It is hard to stay faithful to a program, especially when you do have the candy and sodas right in front of you. I promise you, we all face the same thing. I can tell you from personal experience when I started dieting 7 years ago (No, I haven't been on a diet for 7 years but that is when I lost all of my weight.) I wouldn't drink anything else but sodas. I hated water. But when I had one of the trainers tell me in order to achieve the goals that I had set for myself, that I would have to drink water and drop the soft drinks, I listened. Now, it is to the point that no matter where I am at I always go for the water. It is a mindset. You have to ask yourself what do you want more. Also, I like the fact that you are doing your exercises in the morning on an empty stomach. That is really a good thing. This will help you get your metabolism in a high, fat burning mode for the rest of the day. What I would like to see though is for you to do more cardio. It sounds like on your training you are either doing all upper body one day and lower body the next or you are doing 2 full body workouts. I personally never have been a fan of working out more than 2 body parts at a time. No matter if I am trying to build muscle or tone. Your body can only handle so much breakage. That is what you are doing when you workout. You are breaking down the tissues and then you have to give them time to recuperate and heal. I would have to say that I don't believe 1 day of cardio is enough for anyone. I was talking to one of the guys in the gym. This guy has the best 6-pack abs I have ever seen on a guy up close. I asked him to tell me a couple of his secrets to achieve that look. He said he does cardio every day in some shape or fashion. Everytime I see him, he is on the treadmill doing about 45 minutes worth at a fast power walking pace. Since then, I have really tried to up my cardio and even though my weight is still the same, I am getting tighter which means I am replacing the weight with muscle.

Everyone, I  you all. You have been able to show me great support and motivation through my own workouts and I hope I have been able to return the favor. To quote thelionqueen, "YOU GUYS ROCK!!!"
:woohoo: :grouphug: :cheer2:

Hi all and HAPPY FRIDAY!! Just wanted to check in with you all and sounds like everyone is one track...AWESOME!!

Bad news for us in Denver today, rain mixed with snow all day meant no Zoo field trip today  I decided to take a much needed break from the gym today and hit the Disney store sale. Got More cool stuff that I don't need but it was great.

I also went to Sam's club and bought my son's class cupcakes since they didn't go on the field trip. Worked out well because teacher decided to have a picnic indoors and now they have dessert. One BIG problem. Have you all ever tasted Sam's Club cupcakes?? If not, let me tell you 1st hand, they are SO GOOD! I never buy them because there is 24 of them and there is no way we would ever finish them. BUT last time I brought the same cupcakes to his class, DS brought 4 of them home that were leftovers. I HOPE that doesn't happen today!!

With the gloomy day here and the "day off" from the gym, I'm thinking it could spell disaster. Keep your fingers crossed and beam your will power this way for me :teeth:

Blondealligator..you are not the only one!! I leave 5/28 but still plan on keeping up my exercise and diet program when I return. I need this thread and I'm sure a lot of us will be here for a long time. I also have a trip 9/29/06 and hope to be super trim by then :thumbsup2 I'm here with you as well as Bubba and I know a lot of others, no worries.

DH is going to be working again all weekend :guilty: (I guess someone has to pay for my Disney addiction :bitelip: ) so I'll check this thread Sat & Sun. Have a great weekend, be strong and focused!

OK...I weighed this morning...I'm down 4 pounds! It's my first week, so I'm sure it's alot of water weight & it'll slow down, but still, I feel great! Good luck to everyone else...I know you'll all do great!

Have a GREAT weekend!

Allison

I am new to this thread and new to WISH, but have been around for a while.

I only havea about 10-15 pounds to lose...but for some reason I just cannot do it. I keep think--"geez, it will only take a few weeks to take of this few pounds, I can do ANYTHING for a few weeks..."

But I keep failing at this!

I did SBD a while ago and had great initial success with it. But I find that when I am not RELIGIOUS about SBD, I gain weight very quickly. What happens now is that I still primarily follow SBD (which allows some higher fat foods, olive oil, etc.), but then I also go off a bit...so I am eating way more fat that I did before.

Although my weight hasn't ballooned or anything, when I gain back, it is proportioned very differently than ever before (b/c it is weight from fat as opposed to weight from carbs). Has anyone else ever experienced this?

All this being said, the truth is that my eating is not bad at all. As a vegetarian, I get plenty of great veggies, I never eat fast food, and I can't remember the last time I had anything like a candy bar, etc. Very simply, I am taking in more calories than I am burning. I can absolutely make improvements with my eating, but I do not think this will make all of the difference.

Since I only have so few pounds to lose, I have come to the conclusion that regardless of my eating plan, it will not come off without exercise. Believe it or not, I was once a trainer and aerobics instructor. But then I had three kids in three years (oldest is now 6.5) and have not worked out in all of those years.

I am having a very hard time getting back into working out. I have joined gyms and then gone for 2 weeks only to never return and waste my money.

Any ideas about how to get re-committed to exercise? I just cannot seem to jump-start myself.

Welcome 3DisneyKids! My advice about exercise is that it has to be fun for you & readily available. I used to belong to a gym, but it was too easy wimp out because of traffic, weather, gotta get dinner on the table so no time...any excuse. The money invested in the membership was not enough to motivate me. So I quit the gym & bought an elliptical for my home. I see it in my office everyday, so it's harder to ignore. Then I joined Netflix & now I get to watch movies all the time (I have DD age 3 & don't get out to the theaters much anymore so this is really great). The movies make it fun & easy to stay on the machine for longer periods of time. I know that the investment in a decent machine can be daunting at first, but you'll make up for it in the long run when you compare it to wasted gym memberships.

Good luck & let us know how you're doing!

Allison

HEY EVERYONE:  Man, I have been pretty busy so have not been posting. Just back from a JACK :groom: & JILL :bride: BRIDAL SHOWER. I was very good. I met a good friend of mine who sat with us who is also training with Colleen at our gym and we BOTH were very aware of what To eat and what NOT to eat. She is hoping to run in the DANSKIN TRIATHALON next year 2007. It comes to OUR town every year the last Sunday in July. My house is on the ROUTE and every year we give out water to all the runners. I said I would love to but am not in shape to do a triathalon. My son's gf is in NJ right now as she is running a 26.2 marathon in Long Branch.
Anyway, worked with Colleen 7am Friday. Continued with the s/t and added reps and variations to the exercises. So funny, I had put on my pedometer before leaving the house, wore it all through our hour w/o and decided to get on the treadmill before I left the gym. WELL, met a friend I had not seen in sometime. She jumped on next to me. I walked at 3.5 speed and talked to my friend. We were on soooo long when I looked at my pedometer I had 10,700 STEPS....YIKES!!!! I mean I was not running crazy but simply walking BUT it is still something...
WELCOME TO 3DIsneyKids. You have joined great motivating THREAD. We have a good crowd of people and we are all supporting each other through good days and bad!!! BlondeAlligator: I NEEDED to spend the money to join a gym because I know for a fact IF I ever bought exercise equipment IT WOULD NOT GET USED. I would have EVERY excuse in the book. BUT I also am very frugal that the ONLY way I would w/o is to PAY FOR A GYM MEMBERSHIP and believe you me it gets me there every day (just about)!! Walking into our gym is MY choice of drug...yup, strange thing to say BUT I get "HIGH" on working out and experiencing all the equipment they have there and thanks to many of YOU (BUBBA) I am trying more and more equipment!!!
YES, please please keep this Thread going. I would love hearing from everyone even if they have already gone to Disney. We will just keep it Dieting for Disney cause we all know we are GOING BACK. RIGHT!!!!
BLONDEALLIGATOR: FOUR POUNDS....That is FABULOUS!!!! Bubba: What was that you were saying about SODA. Were you drinking DIET SODA or regular soda and gave that up for WATER??? My son is ADDICTED to Diet Coke. I mean ALLLLLL DAYYYY long. He is 6'0 and weighs 200. He should get down to 180. I would love to see him "kick that diet coke" habit BIG TIME. Not only his weight but his TEETH. (He is 23yo)! My other son is 6'0 and weighs 170. He looks thin. He is stressed only daily with college. He is an over-achiever. He makes eating the LAST thing on his list of "to do" items. BLONDEALLIGATOR... :thumbsup2 for your DD  Here are some :grouphug: as well. BUBBA: As ALWAYS you amaze me with your KNOWLEDGE and LOVE what you said about T.E.A.M.

 YOU GUYS ALL DAY LONG. I have to hit the sack, very tired, gym in the morning.

I want to jump in real quick and wish our newest member, 3Disneykids, a hearty Welcome! :welcome: We are so thrilled that you have come to join our little support / self-help group. If I am not mistaken, you are the first vegetarian that has joined us. Just curious. Are you a pure vegan or do eat some meat products every once in a while? I have a co-worker who is a vegetarian but does eat some meat when the urge may hit her. She has been on a diet for a little while also and told me the other day that she has lost 40 pounds. I know she has been going to the gym and doing cardio but I don't know how she has changed her diet. I will be happy to ask her to see if I can get anything from her as far as her success. I am not too familiar with this kind of diet. I am a carnivore, sorry. It seems like you already know what you need to do (with your background and all). Now, all you need is the motivation to do it. You are right. 15 pounds isn't much at all and it can be lost rather quickly. My first suggestions would be to just start walking to get your heart rate up. A lot of trainers, fitness models and bodybuilders really like power walking for 30 minutes or so at least 3-4 days a week. Also, I would say start off slow as far as changing your eating habits. Try to cut 250-300 calories out of your diet a day. I am pretty sure you will start to see some results faster than you think.

Momrek - I have missed you while you were gone. I love reading your posts. Sometimes they make me laugh and sometimes they make me cry. You have such an energy and enthusiasm that I can see it in the words that you type onto the screen. Your emotion comes through. That is an amazing talent. My soda days started off as me being the only kid that could drink literally any flavor of soda and like it. I was the only one that I ever knew that enjoyed TAB. Then, I got my favorites which was Root Beer, Grapico and Sprite. Then, when I started dieting, I knew I had to give up something so I changed to the Diet Coke. Well, it was then that the trainer told me about the benefits of water (even though I knew it from Health Class) and I stopped "Cold Turkey". It was tough going from something that had taste and flavor to something that was just cold and wet. But then, I learned some of the effects of Diet Coke. Look at what it is made with. Diet Coke itself is made with Aspartame. This is very bad for you as it will actually cause you to have bouts with Paranoia. Plus, and this is more well-known, Aspartame has been proven to cause Cancer. That's why you will see a lot of protein powders at the stores that express in big, bold letters that it is Aspartame Free. So when you are reading labels, look at the ingredients a little closer. A lot of these sugar substitutes are a lot less healthy for you than the original. The best one I have found so far is Splenda.

Note: Stay away from anything that is made with Oleo. This is the ingredient that is in the fat free chips by Pringles. This is very bad for you.

Ok Everyone. It is the end of the week. Let's have a count of hands. You was able to do cardio in some form or fashion everyday this week. I can say that I did and I totaled about 7 hours of cardio for the week. Let me just say that I am very tired and sore. On my next message, I am going to give a workout routine that I did the other day with my DW while I was training her trying to get her ready for our trip as well. It took a grand total of 25 minutes and it kicked our butts.

More Later! Have a great night! :grouphug: :cheer2:

Thanks for all of the warm welcomes, everyone!

Bubba--as you note, there are many varieties of vegetarian. I am what is called an ovo-lacto-pesco veg. This means we eat dairy, eggs, and some fish. No meat, poultry, etc. at all. It is truly a very healthy lifestyle.

You are right--I know what I need to do...I just can't seem to jump-start myself. However, I am starting by walking a few times a week (it is not an energy or even an out-of-shape issue as much as it is a time issue!) and doing abs daily (5x/week for only about 10 minutes each time). I am sure that once I see some basic results, it will motivate me to increase and keep going!

Great idea about just eliminating a few calories per day. This may seem less overwhelming than going on a "program."

We leaave for WDW in 5 days! I am excited, but bummed b/c of how I look in my shorty...BUT, the good news is that with all the walking I do there, I ALWAYS lost weight at WDW...so hopefully that will be the jump start I need.

I am bound and determined to be DOWN by the time our Disney cruise comes around! I have several months before that date, so it shouldn't be a problem...oither than getting off my (ever-spreading) butt! LOL

Not knowing you personally does make it hard to be able to motivate you to get jump-started. I don't know if you respond better to positive affirmations or negetive reinforcement. So with that little crutch, what I would also suggest is to get a friend that you can do the exercises or walking together. This will give you someone (in person) to hold you accountable. Plus, they know you and know what can help motivate you. The great thing is this works both ways. They are going to help you and you will be able to help them and you both will prosper. But you also know that we will try to hold you accountable here as well. In order for us all to succeed, we have to be honest. Honestly, I am sure that every parent on this thread and on the WISH Board can relate to the time issue but we don't let that stop us. We have made the decision that we are going to do what it takes to achieve that goal weight or that healthy lifestyle. We do not take time away from the family so much. We are doing this for the family. Our kids want to be able to play with us so we do it so we can have the energy to play. Our spouse's wants us to grow old with them so we do it for longevity. So instead of looking at it as you don't have the time, look at it as a way to have more time with your family and friends. (That motivated me! Now, I want to go workout!) :cheer2: :woohoo:

I know I said I was going to share the workout routine that my DW and I did the other day and I will later today. Right now, I have to get ready. I have mentioned that I do volunteer work for the City that I live in. Well, I volunteer as a COP. We have what I call a "glorified neighborhood watch" program where we go out and work functions and do traffic control and security. Well, today we are having a public forum for candidates in the upcoming local elections. Our program has been asked to provide security and traffic control for this event. So I will be back later tonight.

Have a great day!! :grouphug:

Well, I came home today. They cancelled my mom operation, because they found a spot on her chest x-rays. They will do more test monday, keep your fingers crossed it is just a thumbprint! As for the dieting, well I took bubbas advise and ate this weekend. I didn't think about numbers at all. We'll see this week how it went. Thanks everybody.

kidsmom- You and your mom are in my prayers this week. Hoping for the best. Keep us posted.

I, too, took Bubba's advice and ate this weekend. Was good Saturday & a little bad Sunday. I"ve been good since Jan. 15! I'm feeling no guilt and actually excited about getting back on the bandwagon. I only lost 4 pounds in April and I'm setting my goal to loose 8 in May. I'll be good & continue writing everything I eat down. That seems to have worked the best for me. I think I've been dropping too low on the calories & have sabotaged myself. Regardless of how poorly I've done in April, I am still down 27 pounds since Jan. 15. Not losing any more doesn't take that away from me. I can do this! Here's to a succcessful day/week/month for all of us! :grouphug:

WOW, BUBBA: THANK YOU :thanks: so much for all the kind words...you make me  YOU JUST ROCK 24/7!! I read everything all the time that you say to everyone on this THREAD and it just amazes me! You truly are our FEARLESS LEADER!!! Your PASSION alone for Health and Fitness is remarkable!!! I applaud you as well for all your Volunteer efforts for your Community :thumbsup2 AND DW must be so thrilled to have you as HER Personal Trainer!!! She is the LUCKY one!! AND please let us know this new w/o!!! You know me I always LOVE new!!! Up early this morning and HIT the gym with my 23yo and my DH!!! We all did the elipticals! Bubba: I had DS read your response to me about the DIET COKE and so funny with kids coming from someone else (Bubba)(instead of mom/dad) IT SEEMS TO MAKE SO MUCH MORE SENSE TO HIM!! He has PROMISED me to slowly cut back to zero. And will start making sure that he does not drink it straight from the can/bottle but will have his d.c. in a large glass :drinking1 w/ice (I guess to water it down a bit)!!! Today I cleaned this entire ABODE!!! Did tons of laundry and washed TWO cars :car: and then went and got groceries. UGH..I am tired!!! DS wanted to take the cars to the Car Wash and I said NO!!! Two things here, sonny....we can SAVE $$$ AND get a work out at the SAME TIME!!!!
KIDSMOM: That must have been a real letdown when the surgery was cancelled due to the XRAY...ugh...Please keep us posted and hoping all is well. :grouphug:
TEACHER31: Keep up the postive attitude. YES, you are STILL down and down BIG TIME!! So you have a bad month (April) where you did not meet your personal goal....take time to hold your head high for your overall accomplishments and MOVE ON AND UP!!! Set your sights for those 8 lbs in May...this IS do-able!!! :thumbsup2
BUBBA: Something interesting at the gym all the signs all over came DOWN for "Body Pump" and replaced with something called "Group Power"...seems it is basically the same w/o BUT that the couple that designed this BP got a divorce so that ended BP (I guess) at least this is what I was told today. I got the new schedule and will factor a class into my schedule. I used to do YOGA a few years ago but I needed MORE than stretching all the time....I needed CARDIO and I needed it big time. I would love to get back to Yoga but with my crazy schedule cardio and s/t is way more important. AND yes, Bubba, I did my cardio and made it for 7 DAYS!!!! YIPPEE SKIPPEE!!! challenged and met!!! :thumbsup2
OKAY PEOPLE!! I am going to put the last of my laundry away and hit the sack. Busy week ahead!!! Please everyone, keep plugging away...through thick and thin (no pun intended) we WILL make it...yes we will!!! We are all the BESTEST!!! Here I am cheering you all again in my cheerleader outfit!! :cheer2:
EVERYONE STAY MOTIVATED!!!

thekidsmom - All I can say is that you will be in my prayers. I hope your Mother is well and if I may just for a second, I will ask God to heal your Mother of any ailments or sickness. On another note, the fact that you have lost 27 pounds is fantastic. I know you feel better and you have to be excited about your results. You are a strong woman and I am confident that you will succeed in reaching the rest of your goals.

momrek - Way to go Girl! The 7 day challenge was met. Now, you have to ask yourself, how do you feel? If you say you are a really sore that means you really pushed yourself. If you are a little sore, than you pushed yourself past your normal boundries. If you feel exhilarated and you feel like you pushed yourself, then your body is becoming a workout machine. Otherwise, your words continue to touch and motivate me. I can't wait to go to the gym tomorrow. Also, I understand about your son waking up a little bit when someone else says the same thing that you have. My DW and kids are the same way.

Ok! I have promised a workout routine that you can do at home when you don't have time to go to the gym. I did this the other day with my DW while playing our Disney Greatest Hits CD and we both worked up a pretty good sweat in less than 30 minutes. This type of workout is called circuit training. For anyone who is not familiar with that term, that basically means going from one exercise to another without resting. This way your whole workout, whether strength training or cardio, is cardiovascular. You will keep your heart rate up and feel a burn. Here we go.

After stretching to loosen up your muscles, jog in place for 5 minutes.
From there, drop to the floor to do 20-25 push-ups (male or female version will be fine).
Next, get back up and do jumping jacks for about 1 minute.
After that, keep your feet shoulder width apart with your arms in front of you. Keep your legs straight and bend at the waist as if you were trying to do toe-touches. Then, come back up so you are leaning back a little. (This is great for stretching out your lower back and hamstrings.) Do this for about a minute as well.
Next, keep your feet shoulder width apart and bend sideways. Imagine that you put your hands on your sides of your hips and let them slide down the sides of your legs. (This is great for your obliques.)
Then back down on the floor to do another 10-15 push-ups.
Then, you will jog in place for another 5 minutes.
Then, stand with your feet shoulder width apart and your arms close to your sides. Now, twist. Go side to side keeping your lower body still. Twist at the waist. (About 45 seconds worth.)
Then, lay back down on the floor on your side and lift your legs (One at a time, of course) Do 25 per leg.
When you get done with that, lay down on your back and put your hands under your back. Keep your legs slightly bent and lift them up so your knees come close to your chest. (Great lower ab workout) Do around 15-20 until you feel comfortable doing more.

There it is. This is exactly what we did the other day and it wore us out. If anyone tries this, please let me know. I am interested on how it works for you too.

Here is to everyone having a great week! :thumbsup2 :sunny: :) :teeth:  :cheer2: :cloud9: :grouphug: :woohoo:

Thank you everyone for your kinds words. I will let you know what happens, when I find out.
I have decided to not weight myself untill next week. Today I will start over and try bubbas suggestions. I just hope this will help me break through this plateau.
The one thing I can see that I have gotten from my mother is her depression and frustration. I can see how this is affecting my sisters and myself, but I am determined not to repeat this cycyle. I don't want my depression and frustration about my weight passed to my boys, if I can spare them this, I would be so happy. They will have enough to deal with in this society we live in today.

Hello Everyone!

I'm back! Got my life organize again, ready to roll!!!
I'm so proud of everyone of you...you are doing so well! It's so good to see all the people that is willing to make small sacrifices for their health, :thumbsup2 !
This past week I was having little troubles in my office. I started a NEtworking class too. So, got lost trying to make everything work (gym, work, class, boyfriend). But I think I'm on-track again!....Didn't make the April excersise challange :guilty: but waiting for the May! :yay:

Today's Tip: Enjoy your excersise time! If you're not an exercise junkie, try to pump it up doing something fun while you are on it. For example, if you have an mp3 player, make a list of your favorite songs only for the gym. You can leave your favorite book for that time too. It makes a perfect companion on your threadmill or bike time. Remember the important thing is that you see the exercise time like fun time! :clown: While you are having fun, time flies!!!

HAPPY DIETING! :wizard:
