Didn’t get FOP FP+ as expected... how much do I refresh?

Hi. I went down for the preview of Galaxy Edge with a 21 day notice. So we had no real FPP. One day we were sitting in the Short Movies at Epcot and I hit the app and out of the blue. I got 2 PFF for FoP. So never give up home. The did Epcot for a couple more hours and park hopped over to AK. And we were on FoP that evening.
Good Luck.

Sometimes the day of, people cancel (or change) their FP plans as their day unfolds and if you are refreshing your MDE app at that time you may find a FP opening that wasn't there just a few seconds earlier.

Personally, I dno't bank on it .. as I don't want to be checking my phone, but i check it occasionally (like while in line or at dinner) just to see what may pop up. It has worked for minor (non-headliner) attractions, not so much for the big ones.

I have had amazing luck, specifically with NRJ, and FoP day of, with just a few minutes spent refreshing. We visited AK two times in mid August, and both days I was able to get FoP day of for two people. The first set we got on August 10th, then on August 15, at 3:10 in the afternoon, I got a FP for 2, and managed to "walk it back" to 3:45.

My experience has been that it is typically easier to find them earlier in the day. My game plan, should I need to get a hard to find FP for my 4th of the day is to go to my first pre-booked FP as soon as the window opens. As soon as I tap in, I then start trying to find a better time for my second pre-booked FP. Often, I can move that one up enough to go straight from the first ride to the second one. I then do the exact same thing to move the 3rd pre-booked FP up, with hopes of getting off the second ride, and going straight to the 3rd, and then as soon as I tap into the 3rd, I start looking for the ride I want. If I find it at ANY time of the day, I take it, then go back, and try to modify it for a better time. Any time I see it at a better time, even if it is only a 5 or 10 minute difference, I take the better time, and then try to modify it again. In this way, I am usually able to walk that fast pass back to a time that is reasonable. I may start with a FP for FoP at 8:30, and when I am done it is for 3:45, and we only have to wait half an hour before the window opens up.

Agreed to all of this--and while I have only one day's experience in refreshing for FP+, I did find that it got harder as it got later in the afternoon, and once I was in MK's evening EMH it was nearly impossible to pick any headliners up. It makes sense; as you get later in the day there's just a smaller pool of time slots still available. Around 9:00 pm I got an 11:00 FP+ for Space Mountain and it just wouldn't budge any earlier, but earlier in the day I'd been able to book several evening FP+ and then move them up to a more usable time.

Sorry to confuse.

When you make your FPs with a resort reservation, you make your Fast Passes 60 days from your check-in date.
But you can also make them for your entire length of stay. So when you are making a FP for January 11th on November 05 (your 60 day mark), you are TECHNICALLY scheduling a FP for THAT particular day 67 days in advance. WAY before people who check in on January 11th can.

That is why the good fast passes are gone even if you sign up for fast passes right at 7:00 AM at your 60 day mark .. there are thousands of guests who already booked Fast Passes for most (if not all) of your trip already simply because they have a longer stay than you..
OK.. so when can I make my first fast pass reservation..November 5, for the 11, then Nov 4 for the 10, etc.. or all of them on the? and if this is case, then my goal is to try the top wanted FP for the 11th working backward?

Do you mean you were trying to get FP+ during Evening EMH? FP+ is never available during that time is it?
Yes, evening EMH was from 9:00 to midnight that night. I guess I never really thought about whether FP+ would be available then, but I was able to get that 11:00 FP+ for Space. I also got a bonus FP+ for an attraction of my choice when I got evacuated from the Tomorrowland Transit Authority around 9:00ish that night and it worked when I used it sometime around 10:30.

All I can say is that I looked for FP+ during evening EMH and got one.

What day was that? Usually Evening EMH doesn’t have FP+ and it’s only 2 hours, not 3.

You do them all on the same day - 60 days from the start of the trip. You are correct that your best strategy is to try and get FoP at the end of your trip first and go backwards. A longer trip gives you a better chance, good luck!

January 27, 2018. I did some googling just now to verify park hours for that date and can't get a straight answer--wdwinfo is claiming MK was only open until 8:00 that night, no EMH, but I have timestamped photos that say otherwise. Maybe I remembered wrong and MK had regular hours all the way to midnight. :confused3 I'm just going to assume that's what was going on and that you're right about this, since that seems to line up with other information available online. I'll admit that in my last reply I guesstimated when the EMH would have been on that schedule since it happened more than a year and a half ago and I didn't save the park schedule.

Per TP Park was open until midnight. MK does not have EMH on Saturday nights.

I accept that I was incorrect.

That being the case, my first comment here should have said that I found it next to impossible to move up FP+ past fireworks time at MK.

You all just reminded me to check my FP availability, and I was able to grab FoP for the day and time I wanted---at 41 days away! Yesterday I snagged a 7DMT, too.

Don't give up! It does sometimes happen. Now....SDD...I'm comin' for ya!
Did you choose what was available from the onset and choose/cancel your original choices as you find better ones? Or did you choose nothing and wait for better ones.🧐

I've seen about 4 times open up today for FoP for Saturday. Def have better shot as days get closer as people are finalizing plans.
