DH is a shiftworker and has been for the past 31 years and yes we spent many many Christmas with Daddy away on Christmas Day but when he was on day shift Christmas morning we got up at about 5am to open gifts and then Daddy was off to work at 6amand home again by 4pm so we just had to do what we had to do and make the best of it.
Now he usually takes the Christmas week off for a vacation week as after all he has 31 years service with this company and deserves to finally enjoy his Christmas's even though our sons are all grown up now (and sadly no grandbabies
