Right now I tentatively have my dessert party booked for Sago Cay Point. I am not sure if I want to stick with this because i Have the White Hall room and patio booked for the reception. I was thinking just to do the dessert party there on the patio. Does any one have pics of the fire works from these locations, or an opinion on which is better????

Two things to consider:

1) You can only see very high fireworks from Whitehall Patio, and they are of course farther away than at Sago Cay Point, which is already pretty far away from the show.

2) Moving to a different location for your dessert party will make it feel more like a separate event. Doing it there might just feel like, "Oh, now they're bringing out more dessert"...

I'd definitely move over to Sago Cay. I wouldn't spend money decorating it though, unless they might move your decor from the reception? Not sure how that works! :goodvibes

Thanks for your opinions girls! Only about four and a half months to go so I am deep into the planning lol! Im just gonna have table cloths and silver mickeys everywhere out there, and a custom menu for the dessert party. Is anyone having a character at their wedding????

I am having my dessert party from the GF marina patio and terrace I am not sure where the whitehall room is in reference to the marina. I have some pictures on my wedding website to give and idea of what things look like from the marina. I got some of them from Disney Travel Babble. Here is a link to the website http://disneytravelbabble.com/disney-weddings/wdw-venue-photos/sago-cay-pointe/

I hope this helps. Oh and you can go to my website too http://www.weddingwire.com/teresaandgreg and go to the dessert party tab on the left side of your screen.

Thanks so much for the pictures. So far so good.. Just curious are did you decided to do a photographer of your own choice, or did you go with disney?? Also, are you sure those are wishes fireworks and not the news years eve celebration??

I have no idea what fireworks they are. Could be new years or wishes or 4th of July or some other special fireworks but hey my guests don't know the difference and let's face it Disney fireworks are phenomenal pretty much all the time! I have an outside photographer coming. Randy Chapman. You could not pay me enough to get me to use Disney photography.

I had a Sago Cay dessert party! I think you should move it, like the PPs have said. I also agree that you shouldn't spend money decorating it.

Are you going to spend the money for the music? I think that is certainly worth it!

Also, we used a disney photographer for our DP. Our pictures are okay (we had Dean, who I haven't read much about), but I think I wish I had stayed with Randy. At least the Disney photography counted towards my minimum!

Does anyone have pictures of the view of the fireworks from Sago? I have seen the pictures of the venue but none showing an actual firework(lol) to see how far away they are

Thank you so much! Does anyone have pricing info on The GF Sago Pointe dessert party for 2015? I found some ideas on message boards and disneytravelbabble, does anyone know if it the minimums are different/apply differently for those not doing a disney wedding? We are doing a Fultons ceremony and reception and want to do a GF Wishes or Epcot Illumimations dessert party that night. Will I need to go through Disney weddings or Disney catered events since our wedding isn't Disney?

Catered Events

Also I want to make sure you're aware that you will not be able to wear your dress to an Epcot dessert party without a DFTW but you would be able to at Sago Cay as that is outside the parks.

I had read you couldn't wear it to Epcot, good to know you can wear it at Sago Cay at GF:)

I also wonder if the event time is a little longer for Sago vs Epcot because Epcot starts and ends promptly 30 minutes before and after the show. Seems like gf may have more leniency since its outside the park, unless it's set up the same for gf dessert party timing, I would be curious to find out.

The food and beverage minimum for a dessert party at Sago Cay is $1,250. There are no venue fees or viewing fees, but you would need to pay $500+ if you wanted a sound system to play the Wishes soundtrack. Minimums are the same whether you do a DFTW or a regular Disney Catered Event. In your situation, you would go through Disney Catered Events.

Thank you! Now I just need to find/hear back from Disney definitive info on the site fees and food and beverage minimums for the different Epcot illuminations locations to see which would be more economical since it's an add-on to our wedding ! :)

Thanks Lurkyloo. $500 isn't bad. I'd prefer Sago Cay but at $1250 it's not in the budget for my small party. Upside is I'll probably be working with chef Brian on my cake! Just heard back yesterday from my planner from last year. Let the planning begin!
