Departure day...ME time?

o.k. after talking with DH about it...we have decided to cancel our ADR and depending on how the week goes we might go to MK at rope drop in the morning. If we are beat after a crazy week then our plans will change.

Now I get to schedule another ADR for earlier in the week!

Thanks for your help!:thumbsup2

Forgive me.. I am blonde :rotfl:If the confirmation comes to the room the morning before checkout day how can I correct it by that same morning? Then I am reading request.. should I just request a specific time?
TIA

You will get your ME confirmation the day before you leave (a notice will be found under your door when you wake up). If the time is not what you're looking for (or if they didn't give you a time) on the confirmation sheet, you can just call them and verbally schedule a pick-up time with them for the following day.

Thats odd. For the last 3 years we have taken a LATER bus with no issue. It would never have occurred to me to call and change our "reservation." We got back to the hotel when we got back and just got on the next bus. They have never asked for any type of paperwork or anything. It was from the Wilderness Lodge and in 2007 Riverside.
Our first year with ME we took the "assigned" bus and got to the airport ridiculously early. We actually had a full sit down meal at a restaurant in the airport while waiting for our plane. We vowed then and there to not waste precious park time sitting in the airport ever again and we have never had a problem. In fact last year I even stopped at the Disneystore in the airport to see if they had the last pin of a set I was trading for. The manager even went into the back to see if they had it in the trading box. They did not, but I had plenty of time to do that and I got on a later bus.
But, i might add we drop off our luggage to ME first thing in the morning before heading to the park, so our bags have plenty of time to get on the right plane home. i think that makes a big difference since they go to the airport soon after you give them to ME (found that out the hard way).

Well then you have been ridiculously lucky.

If you don't take your assigned DME bus there may or may not be another bus that meets your timing needs. And if there is another bus there may or may not be room on the bus. In the event that even one of those events occurs you would be on your own to get to MCO.

I would not encourage any guests to "miss" their assigned bus and assume they still will be able to get to the airport on DME.

Just go down to the front desk that morning-before-checkout-day before heading off to the parks. Have a flight number handy in case they ask. There you can choose the time you want except never less than about 3 hours before your flight (4 hours for charter or international). Occasionally you will be assigned to a bus before the time you choose depending on how booked up they are. Important: Get a new printed confirmation.

If you ask for or are assigned a bus more than 3 hours in advance, you must make that bus. You are not (no longer) entitled to take the bus exactly 3 hours in advance.

This post actually made me shudder a bit.

A few years ago I was on a ME bus back to the airport that was the center of a bad confrontation. After making a a couple of stops the bus was almost full. Then we pulled up to the Carribean Beach. It was obvious there were waaaay more people waiting to get on than there was empty seats. The bus driver asked us if we "had his back" before he even opened the door to talk to the people waiting at the stop.

I couldn't hear what they driver said to those waiting, but you could hear one woman quite well. She was yelling and screaming that they had to get on that bus, and that she expected the driver to haul everyone on board off of the bus and re-check all of the boarding passes. I thought for a moment thing might really get out of control. It was a bit scary!

The driver ended up calling for another bus to come and pick up the people he couldn't fit on his bus. But I would bet dollars to doughnuts that the mad lady was right, and we had a few "extra" people on our bus.

You really should take the ME bus Disney schedules you on. Not doing so can cause all sorts of grief.

I'm going to move this to our transportation board.

I like having enough time to have a sit-down meal at the airport. :)
I actually do not recommend a sit down meal. You could exit the restaurant to find that the once empty security checkpoint is mobbed. Use the food stands in the gate area rotundas, inside security.

That will consume so much time as to make everybody late.
