SIL thought we should get one for the trip. I have only used humidifiers so would like your opinion(We live in AZ).

Thank you

I would think it would be a good idea. We have a pop up and all of our tricks to keep the sheets dry didn't work. We were constantly damp, but we were there in July so it was very, very humid probably not so bad in spring or fall. I will be taking a dehumidifer the next time we go.

Opps, forgot to say we are in an old rebuilt RV.SIL is not a camper type so thought you guys would know more if it is needed or would make it alot more comfortable.

Thank you for answering

We got delayed so we are in the middle of getting new resses. for all our stops on the trip. Will be on the phone in the a.m. trying to redo everything.

A dehumidifier in a RV. :thumbsup2 Be sure everything is closed up tight.

Here's why:

1) It's Florida, you can run all the dehumidifiers in the world and it won't dry out the whole state.

2) Dehumidifiers put out a LOT of heat. So while the air may dry up a few percentage points in your RV, say from 86% to 80%, the temperature in RV will shoot up to an uncomfortable level.

3) Better suggestion - run the A/C in the RV. A/C's are supposed to remove moisture from the air, as well as chill the air. Make sure your A/C coils are clean and if everything is working well and you don't have a refrigerant level problem, you'll be fine with the A/C. Let the thermostat control the temperature in the RV even when you're not in it. There should be nearly a steady stream of water dripping from the A/C when it is running in a climate like Florida, maybe not so much in AZ.

4) Wear loose fitting clothes made of cotton. Technical fabrics like runners wear work great here in the South for making you feel cooler.

5) Bring some Zyrtec or other OTC allergy medicine, because we have pollens and other things that will send your desert dwelling sinuses into a frenzy.

6) Use a small fan or fans to move the air around inside the RV, that will help if feel better too.

We run the A/C and use fans in our rv....live and camp in Florida all year round. No problems.:thumbsup2

All a dehumidifier is a very very small A/C unit. Your best bet is as other have posted just run your A/C

The AC is one of the most important things in Fla. If you have AC let it run all of the time if you don't then you may want to invest in one. The normal ones that go on the roof are strong (a ton or more in capacity [12,000btu cooling is a ton]). If not then they have ones that use a hose connected to a box that fits into an open window and the main AC unit sits on the floor. Looks like a dehumidifier but is a full AC unit. As said the AC will pull moisture out of the air, if by chance yours isn't then it isn't getting cold enough and many need to be recharged. I don't see a dehumidifier working very well. They do dump a huge amount of heat into the space.

Thank you all

Do have and plan to use the ACs, we have fans and hepa filters as well. For outside we are bringing cooling vests.

I knew you guys would be able to give me some good info.
