But when the marketing ploy turns you off from the product being sold, it is not effective. I.E. the Burger King. Gives me the creeps. Won't go to BK because of those ads. Same thing with Deevy See.
We met her at MK in Dec in another role and she was very gracious. I kept calling her DVC and she kept denying. She told she was a much nicer person and that DV lady was obnoxioux. It was comical and she remined very much in her MK character.
OK... So did they get rid of her? We haven't seen any new videos by her lately. They had Samantha Brown doing the Webcast for Aulani. Samantha is so much more of a classy person and does travel videos and shows so much better.
I actually met her at the Welcome Home Wednesday about a month ago.
DH didn't know who she was and couldn't stand her screaming![]()
Well said. This overwhelming distaste for her character on these boards frankly amazes me.I love her and wonder why people are "embarrassed" Because she is so over the top that no reasonable person thinks she's a "REAL DVC member"
Are you the same way with the advertisements for the cars you drive, the food you eat etc?
(And yes I know people who think "if I buy the fancy car with the high priced ads then I will "look' better" but the truth is that where you live, the timeshare you own and the car you drive have very little impact on the kind of person you are. )
If your sense of "self worth" is this severly damaged by a commerical that you have nothing to do with......
(I am much more embarassed by members who treat cast members and guests badly because "I OWN PART OF THIS PLACE")
And as for her effectiveness...
it's intersting the "haters" all already seem to own. For all you know she actually is effective because the target market does not have this "vested" interest in ensureing DVC looks "upscale"
First of all, everyone that does not care for the character she plays is quite aware it is an act, you don't have to keep reminding us.
We get it, she is a nice woman, acting out a part, that many of us does not feel fits the DVC brand.
I honestly do not understand why some think we can't have different opinions.
It does not bother me in the least that some like her. Obviously it does bother some that many of us don't.
As Deb said, much like the Burger King which obviously creeped enough people out, they have dropped him. Good move.
It is really similiar some of us feel dropping her as spokesperson would also be a good move, it is fine not to agree with that.
Instead of berating those that don't find her appropriate then tell us what you do like about her, tell us why you feel she is a good spokesperson for DVC.
I agree with everything you wrote.First of all, everyone that does not care for the character she plays is quite aware it is an act, you don't have to keep reminding us.

I think the actress does a very good job of portraying and improvising with the character she was given. But, I cant figure out who DVC is trying to appeal to as a target audience for DeeVee Cee.
She is a caricature, similar to the tour guide character in the Flights of Wonder at AK. Some people like him. Some dont, but he does fit into the show. I just dont feel like her character does.![]()
I think the Burger King analogy is right on. The commercials with him were well produced and his character was consistent in them. Some were even funny.
But they were creepy and I wondered who they felt he appealed to.![]()
