Deevy See

We met her on our past trip to WDW at a DVC function and she was very nice and even posed for a photo.

But when the marketing ploy turns you off from the product being sold, it is not effective. I.E. the Burger King. Gives me the creeps. Won't go to BK because of those ads. Same thing with Deevy See.

I agree, and the whole Deevy thing makes me almost embarrassed!

We met her at MK in Dec in another role and she was very gracious. I kept calling her DVC and she kept denying. She told she was a much nicer person and that DV lady was obnoxioux. It was comical and she remined very much in her MK character.

jimmytammy - we remember the picture you shared of her. It was great to see her in another role and hear the story.

We all need to be careful that we don't blame the person - she is really a talented actress pulling off what the "Boss" wants done.

Add me to the list of hitting delete and not watching. Didn't like the first one and it didn't improve with her at a Chicago Doorway to Dreams event either. I'm sure they could find some other character to represent DVC that doesn't make their members cringe.

OK... So did they get rid of her? We haven't seen any new videos by her lately. They had Samantha Brown doing the Webcast for Aulani. Samantha is so much more of a classy person and does travel videos and shows so much better.

I actually met her at the Welcome Home Wednesday about a month ago.

DH didn't know who she was and couldn't stand her screaming:rotfl:

We have seen her there as well; she was nice and took time to speak with us in "her normal voice" out of character. Still don't think the Character is a good representation for DVC.

I love her and wonder why people are "embarrassed" Because she is so over the top that no reasonable person thinks she's a "REAL DVC member"

Are you the same way with the advertisements for the cars you drive, the food you eat etc?

(And yes I know people who think "if I buy the fancy car with the high priced ads then I will "look' better" but the truth is that where you live, the timeshare you own and the car you drive have very little impact on the kind of person you are. )

If your sense of "self worth" is this severly damaged by a commerical that you have nothing to do with......

(I am much more embarassed by members who treat cast members and guests badly because "I OWN PART OF THIS PLACE")
And as for her effectiveness...

it's intersting the "haters" all already seem to own. For all you know she actually is effective because the target market does not have this "vested" interest in ensureing DVC looks "upscale"

Well said. This overwhelming distaste for her character on these boards frankly amazes me.

I like the "character" because she is so over the top and through her I see a glimpse of others (and myself) from time to time. We all don't have the same sense of humor. I still look for her new videos to get a chuckle out of.

Now that being said, I am personally drawn more to marketing that shows the high-end qualities of DVC. I want to think I am paying for a product that isn't cheap. She does tend to degrade the product. Since I've bought already I don't have strong feelings either way.

First of all, everyone that does not care for the character she plays is quite aware it is an act, you don't have to keep reminding us.

We get it, she is a nice woman, acting out a part, that many of us does not feel fits the DVC brand.

I honestly do not understand why some think we can't have different opinions.

It does not bother me in the least that some like her. Obviously it does bother some that many of us don't. :confused3

As Deb said, much like the Burger King which obviously creeped enough people out, they have dropped him. Good move.

It is really similiar some of us feel dropping her as spokesperson would also be a good move, it is fine not to agree with that.

Instead of berating those that don't find her appropriate then tell us what you do like about her, tell us why you feel she is a good spokesperson for DVC.

VERY well put. I was going to respond but was trying to find the proper wording. You provided. Thank you, Sammie.

Oh and I did NOT intend to open a can of warms! Besides, I was speaking of the character she plays and not the actual person.

Well said Sammie!:thumbsup2

I always mute my computer while she's on and when I see she's not talking anymore, I'll listen again. I love the BK and King analogy. It's right on. :thumbsup2
One reason that many of "us" that don't like her are already owners is possibly, that we don[t even see her before we buy. I didn't. Had I, I would have wondered what the target audience really was and "what" exactly they were selling. I would have (and do) question why they would choose that kind of character to talk to it's members.
Nothing against the actress.

I agree with everything you wrote.

I think the actress does a very good job of portraying and improvising with the character she was given. But, I can’t figure out who DVC is trying to appeal to as a ‘target audience’ for DeeVee Cee. :confused3
She is a caricature, similar to the tour guide character in the Flights of Wonder at AK. Some people like him. Some don’t, but he does ‘fit’ into the show. I just don’t feel like her character does.

I think the Burger King analogy is right on. The commercials with him were well produced and his character was consistent in them. Some were even funny.
But they were creepy and I wondered who they felt he appealed to.:confused3

I would not be surprised to hear that she started out as a guide on The Jungle Cruise. She does get your attention and she is effective in engaging participants at Welcome Home Wednesdays. I'm not a fan but I have to give her credit for all the effort she puts into her performance. I could never do that.

I wonder if they didn't already know he creeped people out, but felt talk, ANY talk, would be good. Good or bad, people were talking about you and that's more than they were doing before. We've all seen that kind of PR work, and maybe this did for a while, but I'm glad they dumped it finally. Just too creepy.:scared:
