Decorating your resort room?

We'll be staying at All Star Music this December and we're going to be decorating our room of course. Two questions-Could someone tell me how long of an extension cord is needed to reach from the window to the outlet? Also we'll be taking a small fiber optic tree. I wanted to pack it in out carryon so we could decorate when we get to the hotel room and not have to wait until we got our luggage from ME. I'm a little concerned it could cause a problem at airport security though with the wires and such. I dont mind extra scrutiny and them having to search the bag, just dont want to have it confiscated. Anyone have any problems with that kind of thing?

What about shipping it down?? someone on here said they do that... maybe you can find that post

I did just that, so I ahd the decorations waiting for me. I used a 9ft extension cord and that was ty long enough at Pop!!

Thanks for the responses. I think shipping will probably be best, that way I wont have to worry about it. Thanks

save your box, dont forget to ship the packing tape with it... then before you leave, go back to the Conceirge and ship it home... and throw in anything you cant get in your suitcase :rotfl:

All the doors at POP are metal right? I can't remember. I was wondering if I could use magnets on the outside of the door.

I put my LAnyard's and my son's stuffed animal's in the window.I will now put up som LGMH's on my door so I can be reconized as a DIS'er!pirate:

Hello everyone!! Alright it's been way too long since my trip and I'm sorry to all that I left hanging! As many of you know my father had some heart problems before our trip and went into surgery and then upon return things got worse and on and on. Well he finally went back to work today!! :yay :yay: he is back to normal and i'm soo happy!!! So thanks for the PMs reminding me to get my butt in gear! Here is the Hawaiian themed window. I only took 2 photos, but i know i have seen a few pictures posted of my window on different threads from people that saw it :)

ENJOY! any questions, just ask!!

That one is of our door! This was at night right after I finished putting it all up. the best adhesive in my opinion is packing tape! It comes off easily and then i usually just have to wipe it down real quick with a wet washcloth just to get the gumminess off :) DO NOT use masking tape, with the heat, it becomes like glue and you literally have to scrape it off!

That's the window! I have tikiman lights around the dge and white lights with orchids on them on the ledge. I used CRAYOLA brand window markers and they wiped off NO PROBLEM!

Your decorations look great! I was wondering if you used tape for the things in your window or if you used something else? I got magnetic strips for my door decorations but i don't know what to do with the window. This is my first time going down to WDW and decorating and my DH thinks i'm nuts.

Yes you can use magnets on the doors at Pop!!

Agreed, but be warned. We had the magnetic alphabet letters on the outside of our door to start with, but with the metal in the magnets/door and the heat, it left terrible marks on the paintwork that I could not get off!!! We ended up moving them inside after that! :lmao:

I'm starting to get all excited about room decorating...(my DH says if I keep it up he's gonna talk to a Dr. about me..hehe)

I just started working on my LGMH..

Thanks! Yes I used tape in the window!! As long as you get it all off in the end it's all good!! :yay:

I personally used tape for my window decorations, What I did was I got the clear transfer paper (its more like plastic) from Office depot (the stuff teachers use on the projectors) and I used sharpie markers to draw/trace Disney characters on them and color them.:wizard: Then I taped them to the windows at the resort. They turned out really nicely and the tape worked well and was easy to take off. :woohoo:

Ok, so you all got me started. I went to HD and snatched a bunch of mickey heads!! I felt so bad!! However, there were no alien green ones. But anyway!! I know I read somewhere about how to get the mickey head off of the backing paper. If someone could please post how to do that, that would be wonderful. If not, I can just cut them out. I'll have to go back next week to get some more mickey head paint samples. It's amazing how addicting that it can be!! Thanks in advance!!:cool1:

I don't know if there is an easier way to get the Mickey Heads off the cards but I use a razor blade to cut them out. I used to peel them off but I thought they became too flimsy. If there is a better way I sure would like to know too.

We have cut them out in the past and we have also peeled them off and laminated them.

ok I went out today to do some last minute decorating ideas. I am trying to do a honeymoon theme so I have
Door:
Mickey heads in all different colors. A pic of me and my DH from our wedding, i made a little sign with mickey and minnie looking up at fireworks that says "dreams do come true", and a sign with minnie kissing mickey and i wrote on it "happily honeymooning" "The Serranos".
Window:
I bought purple lights to string around the window and I made a sign that says "we are on our honeymoon" and I printed out and colored some pictures of disney princesses with their prince. and just to get a little into the halloween spirit i got 2 pooh and tigger window decorations with them dresses up for halloween. (i know that doesn't really go but we are trying to decide on weither or not to go to MNSSHP.)

Any other suggestions?
I also have some Alien green mickey heads and i got some lime green ribbion that ihave been making bows out of all night to put on all our bags. :woohoo:

my eyes hurt and my head is spinning!:surfweb:
I have read most of this thread in the past hour and a half-:headache:

Anyway- I am SOOOOO decorating. We have decorated before for Mardi Gras(we are from that area!!) and this next trip is at Mardi Gras too, but we are "Celebrating Life"(see siggy) and I have some wonderful ideas-THANK YOU!!!:disrocks:

Plan: make a HUGE cardboard Mickey head in metallic gold(for childhood cancer awareness) with "Celebrate Life" written on it and something for people to sign and some little Mickey heads all around with a picture of each of us(no names). The one for DD9 will say something about her BEATING cancer!!! Mine will say "Birthday mom" or somethin' and will be in DIS green. My window will have home made purple , green, and gold, Mickey heads for Mardi Gras and MAYBE some Mardi Gras lights! DH will be in LSU colors and DD7's will probably be pink and possibly some curls!

Lori

PS-if this thread is still kickin' I will post images!

That is our countdown calendar!!! See my swiped Mickey heads???!!! (Mardi gras colors). I also used the little hands and glass slippers and "sparkles" off of the idea cards from the Disney paint section. I used someone elses idea for this countdown calendar so this is not all my own idea. I got it from a friend on the Feb 2008 boards who got it from someone else...

Anyway- I am going with this thick cardboard and I am going to paint it gold(like this) and cut it out in the shape of Mickey's head!
