Decorating your resort room?

For my door sign I just used the smaller poster board paper. I used old magnets that I don't want anymore and glued them on the back. I don't know if it will hold up in the weather but I hope it does.

WOW! that is a great looking window tracipierce. i'm jealous! where did you find cindy in a green dress?

now i know everyone has probably answered this question but it takes forever to go through all the pages and i have to be in class in ten minutes, but i was wondering what is the best material to do a door sign. i was just going to use a sheet of paper but my brother said the weather might mess it up. my mom mentioned a dry erase board but i'd like to keep all the messages i receive. so....any ideas?

thanks in advance!

HI Scambone, thanks for the lovely compliment!
I made all the window clings by downloading colouring pages from the internet, then using a paint programme to colour them in. I got the window cling printer paper from ebay, but I believe it can be bought from staples?
I went a bit Dis crazy and wanted all my window clings in lime green :lmao:
My photograph of my door didn't turn out well which is why I didn't post it, but I got some magnetic printer paper and printed my door sign, which just stuck straight to the metal door at POP. I got some lime green post it notes to put on the door for people to sign. At the end of each day I would take down the post-its which were written on and put fresh ones up. I have lots of signed post it notes now to add to my scrap book.

One tip I have is about the LGMH, I read that the best way to get them off the card was to soak them, which I did.. but,, this made them very thin and my mickey heads that I used for the garland curled up once I put them in the window, so I would avoid soaking them and just cut round them to give them a bit of stability.

Hope that helped?
Have fun

What I did to make my Mickey garland was cut out the Mickey heads, then glued them back to back, so that if the Garland turned I still had a colored Mickey Head showing on the back. After they dried I punched a hole in each head and strung them on the ribbon tying each one off so it couldn't slip down. I alternated orange and black Mickey Heads and no matter which way the garland turns it has a colored head on each side. It took twice as many Mickey Heads, but our Home Depot had plenty. Hopefully, being cut out with the backing, plus having two MH glued back to back for each head on the garland will make them thick enough they won't curl.

Very cute ideas! I love the garland!

Do you know if most printers will do the magnetic paper? I have an HP printer, fax, scanner but have never tried the magnetic paper.

ohh thank you tracipierce! you are my new hero! I heard about soaking them and i was a bit leary about it so thanks for the heads up! i only have a few (meaning only one huge handful) of Mickey heads so i dont want to waste them! ohh i'm super excited to decorate my window, i just hope my window looks at least half as great as yours!

I just got back yesterday and I took a picture of my window, I forgot to do one of the door sorry. :headache: But I am trying to post it for you to see. Sorry if it doesn't work the first time. its my first picture post.

Here is how we decorated our room on recent Disney Wonder cruise. It sure was a lot of fun and my kids loved it.

Very Cute!! I love the door!

Is Pooh and Aerial on magnet paper or did you tape that on?

Thanks, the pictures are all on magnetic paper and then the Disney heads have little round magnets stuck onto the back of them, so that they sit out from the door, in a 3D way. Lots of work, but as I said my kids and I did it together and it helped to get us in the Disney vacation   spirit.

anyone ever decorated their rom for their OWN birthday

since just myself and DS9 will be there, I am wondering what to do . .

I did!!!!!! My parents took me to WDW for my birthday and I decorated our door at SSR for my birthday. (I was not pleased with turning 40 and wasn't going to mention the whole birthday thing to anyone until my parents gave me the trip. Since we were at WDW turning 40 wasn't so bad and I decided to just go with.) Here are a few magnetic signs I made for the door - thanks to Rumblytumbly and Amy on the Creative DISigns board for letting me steal their designs. I don't have a picture of the door yet since I haven't gotten my pictures developed yet - yes, I know a major sin - but I haven't finished the disposible camera yet.

Have a great birthday!!!

Tonya.....
Ok.... how did you do the signs???

When I stopped in Walgreens to refill my printer ink this week, I noticed they had mini lites, 70 count, DIS color green.
I found great window gel stickies.
Loooking forward to decorating!

I bought 50th birthday decorations for my room. Wont decorate at Pop but will wait till I get to BCV (Actual bday is at BCV where I'll be for 5 nights, only at Pop for first 2)
I have decorations for the walls and a Sign In for the front door.

Were these Disney related? If so I know where I'll be headed today. :rotfl:

There were multi sets, orange, purple, candy corn tips, and the lime green color.
There was nothing Disney on the box, they are much like Christmas or other holiday lights.
WOW it would be great if they were green Mickey's!
Gee I wonder what our Disney store has too?
Happy hunting.
