Decline housekeeping?

Just keep the do not disturb sign on the door and let them know since you are only staying a short period you don't need housekeeping.

Thanks. Good idea! We love housekeeping but sometimes it's hard to clean up for the housekeeping to clean around your stuff. Just as well pass this time.

I usually do not use HK services when I travel solo. I'm not particularly messy and I don't use their toiletries. I don't have them come in unless I need the trash cans emptied, which I usually don't. I just need towels if I'm there more than 2 days.

I just call housekeeping in the morning and ask them to skip me, I do this every morning I don't want service (I'll put up my Do Not Disturb sign as well). When I need towels I won't call and leave my DND sign up, and the mousekeepers leave a days worth of supplies in a bag on my doorknob. (in a cute yellow mickey mouse bag)

I prefer this method to cancelling service for the entire stay and just calling for extra towels, because if you call housekeeping and ask for towels to be left for you outside the room, they sometimes leave you a large clear trash bag with enough towels for a football team. (it's happened to me twice now).

For two nights it probably won't be a problem but beyond that I've found that Housekeeping doesn't pay much attention to the DND sign during daytime, normal cleaning hours, so calling to let them know you don't want service is probably the best way to go about it. They might assume you left it out by accident or something's wrong or want to make sure the room is occupied but either way I've had Housekeeping enter my room while the sign was up and I was occupying it in the past.

We've always declined housekeeping just because we like to rest in the afternoons and that always seemed to be when they came by. I learned, however, that they never seem to be happy about this. When we've tried just leaving the DND sign up, they've called about it... Always right in the middle of our nap (so much for not being disturbed). When we've tried to speak to housekeeping in advance to ask for them to skip our room during our stay, they were suspicious and snippy (at WL and BC). I'm not sure why it's always so complicated for us!

We declined housekeeping at check in and the CM was able to add a note to our account. We didn't put out the do not disturb and they still never came in and just left our soaps and towels in a bag on the door handle.

We stayed at the Boardwalk Inn last week for 5 nights. Due to the hot weather we just couldn't stay out much past noon, and we don't use the pools, so we really had no where to go but stay in our room. We got our room cleaned on Monday, then the remaining days, we put up the do not disturb sign and dead bolted, and put the security latch on the door. We were not disturbed. They left us a phone message every day saying if we needed anything, to call. Wednesday night, we called for clean towels and we got enough for 6 people and there were only two of us. The person that brought then came in and just dropped them on the bed, she didn't seem very happy. Oh well.....

Yep, that's the Disney way. That DND sign means you don't even get a knock on the door. But, you will get fresh things for the next day.

Just put the do not disturb sign on the door.
The day we stayed in the room most of the day, we did that, and they left a bag with toiletries, towels and extra toilet paper on the door for us.

As an FYI, I don't think it's fair to use blanket statements like that because while it may be true at some of the resorts some of the time, it certainly is not true everywhere.
I've been to CSR four times and the housekeeping there is, IMHO, god-awful which is why the DND stays up more or less for our entire stay and never once in thirty one nights at CSR has anything been left for the next day nor have they ever called to see if we needed something.

I got strep while i was on holiday at Disney and i felt ill so i let the room get into such a mess.

I was so embarrassed that i hung a do not disturb sign on the door, i think out of 10 days housekeeping cleaned it 3 times.

They would leave a plastic bag with towels, shampoos, etc on the door sometimes instead.

I still gave them 25 bucks as my housekeeper was so nice.
