With my "little" ones all grown up (or so they think) coordinating schedules with college, Army and work is a major undertaking - had originally thought 12/26/04 - 1/2/05 would be great but the more I read about the crowds that week, the more I think that's not such a good idea.

Now thinking aout 12/31/04 (want to hit Pleasure Island for New Year's Eve) through 1/6 or 1/7 - is that a better week crowd wise? Think there might even be resort discount for that time since official holiday season would be over?

We've gone mid-December several times and lucked out with crowds and good rates but that's unfortunately not possible this year.

Booking 2 rooms at Pop Century - going with myself, 2 21 year olds (son and foster son), 19 year old daughter and possibly 16 year old nephew.

Any tips/advice on timing greatly appreciated!!

I'm sure NYE will be crowded the crowds will thin out a bit except for those running the Disney leukemia marathon (my BIL runs this every year-I don't know the '05 dates but it's always been around the 3, 4, 5th of Jan).

My M & F inlaw leave for their winter stay (they have a home in Celebration) on Dec. 27th. They have made comments that they do not leave their house until the 2nd because traffic is either very heavy or completely backed up in the 192/maingate/WDW area around New Years.

I personally would pick the first part of January because of crowds and also if you stay on property the rates should be cheaper by then too.
