December 10, 2006 - 12/10/06 Wonder

Well, the big kids brochure arrived this past weekend, the one that goes into a bit more detail about excursions and the cruise.

It must be getting closer.

Did I mention that I'm now stuck with 2 hotel rooms for the night of December 9th? The friend who was supposed to be going with us cancelled, and I had booked 2 rooms at the Wingate, near MCO. I had booked, and PAID for it via Hotwire.

Not quite sure what to do with an extra room. I mean we're probably not going to bring THAT much luggage! :rotfl2:

No KTPOOL I'm not calling you a posting Hog...I am posting one after another...Have I said how excited I am to have found "my" cruise?

Anyway, KTPOOL I noticed your kids are about the same age as my oldest 2. My DD is not very outgoing and is very worried about not knowing anyone on this trip. (especially because DD6 is the "designated speaker" and greeter for them and she will be in a different age group). I can't wait to show her the pic of your kids! Maybe they could be PM pals or pen pals for the next few months!

I have received our little "welcome" package with excursion info in a cute little portfolio. I paid our cruise off last week and figured that was why they sent me the info?!

I'm gonna try to let someone else post now...
Andrea

Hi Andrea!

Just having a chance to check in...I stopped getting reminder messages and I was on vacation for a couple of week :cool1:

My dd9 would LOVE to have a email pal! I just set her up with an account under mine on yahoo and she has been emailing me like crazy during the day. She loves getting mail, even when I am reminding her to do her chores :rotfl2:

Why don't you PM me with your email address that your daughter can use and we can send a message.

My daughter is not shy at all. My niece is 8 and very shy, so maybe between the 3 of them they will have a little clique :cheer2:

Our son is 6, and my 3 nephews will be 3, 4 and 5. But my son likes girls better!

We are staying at the Poly before the cruise too! We will definately have to meet up there first so when the kids meet up in the kid's club they will already know each other face-to-face.

Talk to you soon!

Oh yeah! Hi everyone else! Happylawyer...I was peripherally watching the other thread where someone was bashing you (well, I thought it was you, but wasn't sure until now :confused3) Crazy people :sad2:

Yeah-My DS will be 5 on the cruise and 2nd DD will be 6, they will probably be in the same group!
Last week I went to Disneyshopping and bought a ton of stuff-including the Matching Mickey Hawaiian print dresses/shirts for the whole family. (I'll have to get DH drunk to get him to wear matching clothes but it was only $6.99 so I won't sweat it if he doesn't cooperate). I spent about $100 and got 3 HUGE boxes of stuff-Pj's, bathing suits, EVERYTHING! Normally $100 gets me a small box with a few things! WHOO-HOO!

Andrea

I almost bought the Hawaiin print stuff too! Now, that would have been funny :lmao:

hello hello hello
ok don't forget my clan, 10, 10, and 3
to the person stuck with the room, here is an idea, if anyone here needs a room on this night, pm the person and work it out, maybe you could get it discounted since she paid for it, just a thought,
it's getting close guys

if anyone has a dtr around my dtrs age or neice 10, they could talk on the phone, both girls have a cell phone so their friends can call them directly -phones are of course monitored.

ps, who is going to scout out a location for dinner on the night of the 9th, i thought it would be cool if we all met somewhere with our families,

if you want to do this, state how many in your party will be comming,
i have a total of 6

I check on here a few times a week and this is the first time I have found a thread for our cruise!

Let me introduce "us".
Me-33
DH-34
DD-8
DD-6
DS-5
DD-turning 2 during our cruise!
We will be staying at the Poly from Dec 2-10th then driving over to jump on the ship.

I am so excited to find all of you....Now I have to spend the next day or two reading the 7 pages of posts to catch up with what's what!

BTW- has anyone thought of renting a room at Atlantis on the Nassau day? I just did it yesterday and I'm still not quite convinced the weather is going to cooperate enough to make it worth it!
Look forward to "chatting"
Andrea

can someone give me some info on atlantis, i was going to do the escursion for atlantis, is renting a day room better, how long are we there?

paradise island, isn't that where wonder woman is from?

I like the idea of having kids of the same age get to know each other before the trip.
My kids are:

DD 10 (almost 11 at sailing)
DS 6 (almost 7 at sailing)

I think it makes more sense for the older children. How do we go about this?

Neal

It is great that we all have dd around the 8,9,10 year age and kids that are 5 or 6 :-)

I really wish I could meet up for dinner, but we will be in WDW until the Sunday AM of the cruise. Maybe we could meet at the sailing away party - we could all wear the same color wrist band or something. I would be willing to make a bunch of yarn bracelets or buy something that we could all wear and the kids would recognize too.

Lime green for the DIS of course!

I am not sure how my dd would be calling someone she didn't know at first, but she loves to email. I wonder if I could set up a Yahoo group or something that the kids could chat on? I will look into it.

Neckhardt - when does your DS6 turn 7? Mine turns 7 a month after the cruise (Dec. 13th. PS...my brother and his family are coming on the cruise too and they are from Rochester (well, they live in Livonia). I used to live in Roc too! We were practically neighbors, hehe.

Anyway, who is in for the ID bands or pins?

Kristen

Wow!! I would love to wear a band/pin so we can find each other!! My daughter will be turning 5 on Dec 10 and she would love to have friends on the cruise!! This is going to be so much fun!! :cool1:

We can look into a place for dinner on the 9th for anyone who is going to be there. You just have to let me know what everyone can/cannot eat (such as if I should stay away from seafood because of serious allergies!!) and we can start looking up places.

We live here in Florida and can easily call AAA and such for reccomendations. Unless someone lives closer and has knowledge of good places to eat? As we get closer we can get a head count and make reservations so the place doesn't have a cow!! he he he  <----when they see the masses coming!! :rotfl:

We thought about renting a room for the Nassau but we have been their before and there is not much to do outside atlantis. I know that you can not use any of their pools without being a guest of the hotel. Only the casino and beach are available for non-guests.

We are just debating on seeing the straw market or just staying on the boat and swimming. Usually the pools are a lot less crowded on port days.

My stuff should be arriving any day now!! Can't wait!!

count us in, i think we should stay away form seafood because of the children. Something simple, even if it were dennys it does not matter, just a place to get to know each other, the kids can meet etc... ok this is childish, but other kids will be so jealous because our kids will have their friends with them already-lol

we can do the bands who wants to organize them?

Daughter and son turn 11 and 7 one week after the cruise (21 and 22) and our anniversary is on the 19th (busy week).

I am not sure where we are staying the first night. If we stay at Port Canaveral, we can't make dinner. If we stay up near the airport, it's possible. Our flight arrives about 5:00 PM.

AIM instant messenger a possibility for our kids?

Oh yes, I lived in Rochester for 25 years (Henrietta).

Small world (but I'd hate to have to paint it).

Me too! When did you live there? I left in 1995. I worked at the Friday's there while I was in school.

AIM sounds good to me, if it is free :-)

I will set up an account and PM whoever is interested.

I will get the bands - I will get a count of how many sometime in October probably and send them out in November.

Cool!!!!!

Left in 1996 for a job (it was better than uneployment that ran out).

We'll certainly have stuff to talk about. :cheer2:

Neal

p.s. AIM is free.

Cool...we are so excited! I told the kids about all of the friends they are going to make and they are very excited. My 6 year old just drew a picture of all of the other 5 and 6 year olds to put on his Disney savings bucket
