Dear Santa, I'd like a Disney Trip for Christmas! - TR started!

So I've been back and forth about getting a video camera. I used to play around with my parents big old VHS tape video camera and I loved it, but havent had any since then. I was thinking about how I'd love to video tape our trip as well as have photos, but I'm just so unsure about to buy and such.

I've done some research on flip video cameras and they dont have really great reviews. Actually they have pretty horrible reviews. I was wondering if anyone has used one and liked it? Or maybe even hated it? Or if anyone has a video camera they really like and would like to suggest? I really like the size of the flip video camera...but I'm skeptical of the reviews I've read.

Any help would be greatly appreciated! :goodvibes

If no one has any opinions on video cameras I'll just have to figure this out somewhere else!

Hope everyone had a great Monday! Anyone else have a boyfriend or maybe even a husband excited about the COD release tonight? I have a BF AND a brother who will both be there at midnight! :rotfl: I'll be sleeping! :cloud9:

Next Post!

Yay!! So many good things in one update!

Turkey Hill!! I think they have some out here, but it tastes different?? I miss Turkey Hill and Tastykake and Wawa and good hoagies so much. Also ham. No one eats ham out here it seems like!

CRYSTAL PALACE!! What time are you planning on leaving? That's the one day we're going to be using the buses (don't want to try and do the parking lot with MVMCP) and I don't want to be super late OR early. I wish there was a dedicated early park breakfast bus!

MVMCP!! I can't decide what our focus is going to be. I'm so glad the holiday seasons are changing and I can start obsessively reading MVMCP reports to figure out what to do besides eating cookies.

Countdowns!! Mine is messed up since I included traveling/Universal days so it seems so much closer (a whole three days ;) ) than it actually is. Which is kind of sad.

Are you on the Vera mailing list? I get all sorts of emails about sales way too frequently ever since signing up. Unfortunately I already have my park bag (camera bag. Silly DSLR needing extra protection).

Turkey Hill's whoopie pie ice cream is AMAZING! If you go to their website they ship stuff to you wherever! :thumbsup2

I dont know when we're going to leave for Crystal Palace! I'm thinking an hour or so before our reservation? I guess I need to do some more research on this subject!

We'll be spending the day before MVMCP and the whole day of MVMCP at MK so we'll just really be able to enjoy the whole aspect of the party. :goodvibes :santa: Theres always a method to my madness.

Arent countdowns so fun! It just really brings back awesome childhood memories....forever a kid at heart! :goodvibes

I was on the mailing list...but now that I think about it I havent got any emails from them in awhile! I need to check into that ASAP!

Ugh Matt is all about the COD release. He played the old one all summer long. We've been discussing the budget for our early December trip (aka my birthday trip) and the cost of the game had to be factored in... Boys, am I right? :lmao:

I noticed your post on Teekthepony's TR. Then I noticed your ticker and realized that we will be at the world around the same time.

I just skimmed through a lot of your PTR and I have to say that I admire your perseverance in getting to Disney for your first trip. Your plans look wonderful and you must be thrilled to be staying at POFQ. I have stayed there a couple times (just one nighters before a DVC trip) and I really do love that resort. I think you and your DBF will enjoy walking to POR and exploring that resort as well. If you are there on a Sat night and have time, check out yehaa bob http://www.yehaabob.com/. He really is entertaining.

Good luck with the rest of your planning. I hope your first Disney trip is more magical than you ever imagined.

Whoops, I apparently missed your latest update.

I don't know too much about video cameras, I guess I wouldn't really watch them too often? I would rather have a good camera with a decent video option, I think. I would get more use out of it.

And we don't game either. I feel so uncool! My boyfriend wants to get a big-screen 3D TV for an xbox/kinect eventually. Does that count?

:rotfl2: since DBF is in college he doesnt have an income right now other than tutoring. (he gets paid for that!?! I still cant believe it!) And he uses that money to buy his games! He has three THIS MONTH he is getting.

Thank you! :goodvibes I am very happy to be staying at POFQ. That is the resort I REALLY wanted! So I am very happy! :cloud9: And thank you! For some reason I think it will be. :goodvibes :santa:

I love home videos! :goodvibes And I think it might be nice to have my first trip on video...I just dont know if a video camera would be worth it and depending on its size if I'd even want to lug it around.

:3dglasses 3D tv's are cool. 3D in general is cool! I think the kinect looks awesome...but I have a wii and I love my wii! :lovestruc  Video games can be addicting...proceed with caution. :rotfl:

I wanted a Wii SOOO badly. My friends in undergrad had the Harry Potter game where you had your own "wand" and it was so fun! But nope, no Wii :( There is a fun animal game for the Kinect apparently, and lots and lots of racing games for my boyfriend! I had a Gameboy once and all the Pokemon games and Disney tetris! That and the Sims 2 is the extent of my gaming. :rotfl:

Yeah, I love my camera but it is big and sometimes a point and shoot seems easier (which I, ironically, don't have!). I know nothing about video but I've at least done work in a dark room and studied a little bit of photography so I feel more comfortable with that?? I just don't know how to make good videos, I guess! Then again, I'm not really sure what I'm going to do with the pictures I take either, so it's kind of a moot point.

Well I'm also interested in getting a better camera...so feel free to give advice on that if you prefer. :goodvibes

And as for the Wii I LOVE my Wii....I have Lego Harry Potter and it is SO MUCH FUN! I'm getting the second installment shortly as it comes out nov. 11th. :woohoo: Such a fun game! :thumbsup2

Okay I'm behind over here! Ack! But I just caught your last update asking about the Flip cam. I have one and have had no problem with it. In fact, I brought it with us on our honeymoon last year and it was great to have. I actually videoed Matt and I riding EE in the front row (Matt's reactions are pretty hilarious), it's compact and easy to carry around.

This year I'm not planning on bringing it since I have an iPhone 4, and will take all videos on that. I say if you can score a Flip on the cheaper end, go for it!! :thumbsup2

Ohh thank you! I'm really considering buying one. I want to have the memories preserved in as many forms as possible! :goodvibes :rotfl: It's nice to hear some positive things about it!

Ah, I'm terrible at giving advice! I like my dslr because I love my macro lens. My method of picking a camera is seeing who has pictures I like and then buying the same make of camera!

Do you know how to edit videos? I think it would be cool to learn how to do that!

I do actually. Its VERY easy and usually computers come with the program already on it. (at least the ones I've had) :confused3 But if you just play around with the program I'm sure you'd figure it out in now time!

34 DAYS!

So as I starting typing "34" a WDW commercial came on! :goodvibes Anyway, lets start out by talking about the show Roseanne. Anyone ever watch it? I have. And I love it. But the other day I was watching it (or was it last week? I cannot keep track of time anymore!) and where did they go on vacation?! WALT DISNEY WORLD! It was so funny. And I enjoyed it even more than usual...because...you know...they were at DISNEY WORLD!! :thumbsup2

Day THREE: HS!
There is no game plan for this day other than enjoy this park to the fullest. I feel like this is going to be an AWESOME park. We have a ADR at 50's and I couldnt be MORE excited! (Do I say that about everything I have planned?) :rotfl2:

Since this is my first trip I want to keep my schedule and days open since I've never been before...as an obsessive planner this is so difficult for me. But this is what I've determined needs to be done.

Right now my focuses are:
  • Mini-Planner!
  • Find a Park Bag
  • Purchase needed things

Well thats all. Another short and sweet plan. (which I'm really not happy about) DBF didnt come home this weekend. I hate these weekends. :sad2: Maybe a MP update this weekend if I dont pathetically sulk all weekend.

I have a Nora Roberts book to read also....boy do I love a good Nora Roberts book! :woohoo:

Today is 35 days for us. I have to check our schedule to see if we are doing the Toy Story dash together! I don't think so though; I think we will be there on Sat. AM.

Do you have a touring plan for the park? (start with Toy Story, move to RnR, TOT...)

Sorry DBF didn't come home...I remember those weekends I didn't see my DBF (at the time--he is my DH now...). I'm not sure how I remember; it was a million years ago...:rotfl:

My FIL has a flip (he won it at a race either through raffle or by winning his age group...) I haven't played with it, but from what I saw, the video quality was pretty good.

I have a Kodak Playsport (waterproof). It is great to use on water rides and to let my girls take in the pool. The quality isn't as good as my iPhone...

For a point and shoot camera, I recommend the Nikon coolpix series. I have a Canon SLR, which I love, but it is an investment (both money and lack of convenience.)

Oh bummer we wont be there the same day! Maybe we'll be at the same place another day! I do have my touring plans! :goodvibes

The thing I really like about the flip vid is its not going to kill my bank account. Waterproof though....I love waterproof. One of my cameras is waterproof! :lovestruc

I've been heavily looking into Nikon cameras. I really like what I've seen! So many decisions.

Yay 34 days! I can't wait for it to be a month :) I need to figure out what we're doing this day, I have MGM or Animal Kingdom and can't remember which one I really wanted!

We had a similar discussion today on our walk; neither of us have spent very much time in this incarnation of MGM so we have no plans. Like, we both have detailed plans on what we want to do in Magic Kingdom since we've been there so much more, but MGM is only a vague fuzzy spot on a map. It should be fun to explore a new place though!

I love the purchase needed things bullet! My to do list has that as well, only it is followed by a very long list of "needed" (some are more wants than needs, truthfully) items. ;)

It's 37 days for my Christmas trip today! :goodvibes: We have an ADR for 50s Prime Time too. I've never been there! I'm sooo excited!

Yay!!! 33 days now!!! WHOOT! I am so excited for you! :)

D~
