Dear Santa, I'd like a Disney Trip for Christmas! - TR started!

Hey guys! So I posted about my job issues and I'm in full panic mode about...well....my trip. I've waited my whole life for this! LITERALLY! And the thought of it being just ripped from my grasp is an extremely devastating thought that makes me feel sick....I'm sure you all understand better than anyone else I try to tell. AND that is why I love this site. And my few readers. You guys just understand the love of Disney that makes regular people roll their eyes and tune you out. Anyway, I am determined to make this trip happen....so what better way to get your determination back than a call to DISNEY! :goodvibes SOO I have a December Disney tips thread and I saw someone got free dining for basically the exact same dates I have! Well I LOVE free! So the first place I headed after reading that was the Walt Disney world website! :lovestruc I got on the little Instant Message chat window and asked about the free dining periods to find out that YES indeed I am able to get FREE DINING! YEEEEEEEEEEESS! :cool1::thumbsup2:woohoo::yay::cloud9::love: So this leads to a phone call to Disney! I love calling them. They make me so happy! :rotfl: So I get on the phone with a wonderful CM and we're talking about dining and such and I realize....I'M SWITCHING MY DINING TO FREE QUICK SERVICE!!! (because we're in a value) and I'm going to have to carry money!!! NOOO! :scared1: So I ask the CM to tell me the price of upgrading to a Moderate Resort so I can get the free dining. (secretly I really wanted to stay at the Port Orleans French Quarter and was a little bummed about staying at All Star Movies) Soo she got the price and told me it was going to be a WHOPPING $100.00 more. Now I really dont see how this saved me money but I said YES! LETS DO IT! Now $100.00 isnt that incredibly much and now I get to stay where I REEEALLY wanted to stay. So $100.00 for the ideal Disney vacation isnt that horrible. And I got my reservation for the Hoop Dee Doo Revue. EXCITED! :hyper: Now I have time to type this update because I got an unexpected day off from work. UGH. I'm in hardcore job finding mode. I'll keep you guys posted. This is turning into a suspense action thriller type of PTR! (not really...but lets just pretend)

NOTHING will come between me and my trip to Disney!!! .....oh did I say my?? I mean our...you know DBF...yeah, I guess its his trip too.....

Ta Ta for now! :rotfl:

I apologize for the length, lack of pics, and possible boring-ness of this post.

Next Post!

hello poison apple princess. What days will you be staying at POFQ. We are going on our first Disney trip (Me, DH & DD 8) and staying at POFQ. We will arrive on Dec. 17 and leave on the 22. It would be so cool to run into newbies too :-)

We arrive the 17th! Leaving the 21st and staying at POFQ. I will the the tall red-head with two twenty something sons.

Peeking in to say "hi"!

To start, I'm excited for you on your first WDW trip!!! :woohoo::woohoo::woohoo: (Mine was in 2009.)

Next, I must confess, you have a wonderful name! (It's mine, too. :lmao:)

You will be enjoying a visit to Animal Kingdom on my birthday! So while I'm sitting in a restaurant moping that I'm a year older (and my WDW trip is still a few months off), I'll think about how much fun you'll be having and it'll perk me up a bit. ;)

Last, but not least, don't stress over crowds. Remind yourself that it's almost impossible to go to WDW (in perfect conditions even) and get everything done. :thumbsup2 It's why we have the great excuse "next time, I'll do _____". :cool1:

I would love the chance to visit WDW with the Christmas festivities (and Halloween, too!). I'm very jealous of your trip (and your resort it's on my list and never available). You'll have such an amazing time! Just do your priorities and make time to relax and take in all the sights!

Have you checked to see if there's any refurbs going on for your time-frame? And for the park schedules? (Sorry, I've been reading this off and on all day with kids asking for more juice and trying to do some housework.)

Anyway, enjoying your PTR! Can't wait to read more! popcorn::

ACK!!! Here I thought you posted new Mini-Planner pages below... I was really looking forward to them - Oh well - I'll continue stalking your PTR.

Bummer that your BF had to go home - but at least you got to see him.

Ok, a bag to carry in the parks... Since you are such a huge VB nut, like me, I vote for VB. So, let me tell you why my vote is so important... well, I read every single "WDW bag thread" I see - so I consider myself educated in this matter. So, in these threads, the general concensus is for Bagalinni bags... however, I think that's just because those people have yet to find VB. I really liked the old Hipster, but VB has changed it so many times. I recommend the 2nd generation, because the quality is top notch... I do NOT recommend the 3rd generation (lacking quality) and I know nothing about the 4th generation... I'll bet you are relieved that, at least, there is something I don't have an opinion on. So, saying all of that... a few years ago, in one of the "WDW bag threads" - I took pictures of my VB Hipster all packed up with my park necessities - and lucky for everyone reading this thread - I still have them on my photobucket.

Before I post the pictures though - I need to add - DH was kind enough to carry my gigantic planner in his backpack, because there was no way it was fitting into my Hipster. Whatta guy!

OK, are you ready??? The pattern used in these photos is "Capri Blue"...

There you go - I hope you enjoyed my mini review on the VB Hipster. And don'tcha think that Mini-Planner of yours will fit perfectly next to the bottle of water???

D~
:rotfl2: Oh I will work on my Mini-Planner soon! Maybe I'll work on it a little bit tonight...we'll see! :rotfl: I LOOVE THAT BAG! And such a cute color! I dont know how anyone would choose any bag other than a Vera! :confused3 Is that bag comfy on the shoulders? I was thinking about getting a VB backpack but UGH I do not want to deal with that...and I dont want to use a regular purse or anything similar to that. A cross body bag seems to eliminate all problems! :rotfl:

Mini-Planner update coming soon! :thumbsup2

Hello! I just came across your PTR and I'm now all caught up! I love your ideas and plans. I wanted to comment on a few things I came across:

1. The dates: We are planning to go Dec 18-24, but I am currently trying to get our dates changed to Dec 15-21. I'm just waiting on a few of my DD's teachers to return emails concerning letting DD make up any school work.

2. Photopass: If you want to save a little money on this, you can go to facebook and there is a page for "photopass shares". There used to be threads on here for that, but it's no longer allowed on the Dis. I have done several shares, and it's always worked out great! PM me if you want more info on that.

3. Tusker House: I am also SO excited about this one. It's one of those ADR's that we definately want to do!!

4. Your mini planner: I just wanted to say I LOVE that idea. It's so cute & organized!

5. Dole whips: You have to try one!! We have been going to WDW since 2006, and this year (back in June) was my first time ever trying one. I can't believe what I had been missing out on! :lovestruc

Can't wait to hear more about your plans!

YAY FOR MORE CHRISTMAS TRIPS! How awesome! We'll be there the same time! Where are you staying? I think Tusker house is one of the places I'm most excited for! :goodvibes I love breakfast! (which is what we'll be eating there)

We'll be there Dec 15-23! POFQ seems to be a popular place to stay in Dec! :woohoo: :thumbsup2

Hi! :wave2: Well my AK is going to be a pretty awesome day then! :thumbsup2 Being your birthday and the park I'm most interested in and all! :goodvibes

I've really been trying to prepare myself for the fact I wont be able to do everything! Everyone says there is just too much to do any time you go no matter what...I just need to get that in my brain! :rotfl:

Christmas is my favorite time of the year so it seems like such a perfect time to go on my first Disney trip! :cloud9: And I'd also LOVE to see Disney at Halloween!

I did check refurb info and things like that. I have them written down somewhere...but who knows what happened to that paper! I've been meaning to look into that again because I have a Mini-Planner that needs MAJOR updating! :rolleyes1

We're staying 3 nights at Best Western LBV, inside Downtown Disney area, then 3 nights at AKL. I haven't figured which days for each park yet. Still waiting to see if we're going to change our dates around. I am also excited about Tusker House!

Well, I really like the VB straps because it doesn't feel like you are carrying a purse, at all. I used to always carry an over the shoulder type purse, but the year before Disney, I purchased a Sherpani bag - I really liked it, but the woven material of the strap always rubbed my neck wrong, and it was very painful. It was because of a VB thread here on the Dis that I found VB, and I've never gone back. The straps are so comfy, and I don't carry anything but cross body bags now - especially in the summer - because they don't get hot. The strap is that only thing against your body, and the bag portion hangs on your hip (or lower). The Saddle Up is a great bag too, I just don't like that it only has a magnetic flap with out a zipper - I've never lost anything, and it's bigger than a hipster. But I prefer the zipper while on vacation. Does that help at all? :rotfl2:

Mini-Planner update coming soon! :thumbsup2

Yay!!! Waiting for it.

Well...I think its time to go Vera Shopping!! :woohoo: I have such a problem picking which color I want most though. :confused3 :rotfl: Did I mention that my BF can pick out VB bags vs. knock offs (print wise)... :lmao: :rotfl2: It cracks me up! And he even knows some bag names! I think anyway..now I'll have to ask him! :rotfl: Poor guy. I guess that means its a frequent topic!

Well, my favorites are... *** in no particular order.

Plum Petals
Very Berry Paisley (one of my all time favs)
Purple Punch (another all time fav)
Hope Garden(Can I pick a 3rd? LOL)
Bali Blue (Ok, maybe a 4th too???)

D~ <---- who really can't go Vera shopping... will resist and make my own bag for this trip! :rolleyes1

My favorite patterns are the Poppy Field and Puccini, but I think both were discontinued? The new Middleton collection is nice too. I've only ever had wallets, though; the bags are a little too "flashy" for me but I love to look.

Oooh, the floral nightingale is nice! I like when they have birds on them :)

Well I've been looking online and I think I'm going to definitely look into the hipster! The colors I've seen online that I'm interested in are....

Tea Garden
Plum Petals
Mocha Rouge
English Meadow
Blue Lagoon
Twirly Birds Pink
Java Blue

Decisions Decisions Decisions!

Ohhh lucky you! I'd LOVE to stay at AKL! It looks so gorgeous! And I heard tusker house has great juice! :rotfl:

I wouldn't normally stay somewhere so expensive, but I'm trying out "renting points" from a friend/DVC owner. I've always stayed offsite, so I am really looking forward to AKL.

And it looks like we will be planning to arrive on the 15th, too! (Everything worked out with me switching my dates around)

Well my printer is out of ink and not only do I have a Mini-Planner to update but I have homework up to my eyeballs I need to print out! :headache: Story of my life...but am I stressed. Naah..I'm hanging out on the disboards. :surfweb: Drinkin' iced tea. Lovin' my new iPhone update. Enjoyin' the fact I can sleep in a bit tomorrow. Yup. Thats me right now. :thumbsup2

But I do have a little update I can add about my Mini-Planner. It might be cheating a bit since I already had this done for awhile but I never posted it..sooo UPDATE! :woohoo:

Well I'd first like to point out that I have a touring plans accounts. (For those of you who are less obsessive, it is a site basically about crowd levels and provides touring plans) So I decided I am going to get my moneys worth and utilize as much of the information as I possible can. My first thought...LOAD IT IN THE MINI-PLANNER! Which I then found to be harder said than done. (and this is probably the reason I'm currently out of ink.) But here are the photo's. What you're looking at is crowd level cheat sheets for each park and attraction with best times to just stand in line, get fastpasses or skip entirely.

075.jpg

Now I have so many ideas for what to fill my delightful little planner with but I just need to find the time to get working on it! (Roughly 50 days until my trip!!!! :scared1: )

  • Flight info
  • Individual Day Plans
  • Must Do's for each park
  • Tips that may be helpful
  • Phone numbers

And that is just to name a few! I'm hoping I can get this little thing done! (but I know I will!)

I am up for any suggestions for Mini-Planner stuffin'! :rotfl2: I like a very detailed and informative planner! Who doesnt right?!

That is all for right now.
Goals for this coming weekend:
  1. Print out homework
  2. DO TONS OF WORK ON THE MINI-PLANNER!

PS. That blank space in the photo above WILL NOT be there for long! I intend on stuffing that baby full! (even if its just Disney photo's!)

Next Post!

YAY! :cheer2: CONGRATS! That is so exciting! Especially since crowd levels are lower and lower the farther away from Christmas Day you are! (which is why I switched in the first place!)

I love TP. I have a subscription as well. If you aren't aware, they have an app called Lines. I use it in the parks to update wait times (for others), and I use it to check wait times for attractions on the other side of the park. It's not 100% reliable, but it was always pretty accurate (waits were usually listed on the app longer than it actually was when I got there). I do recommend it -- and best of all, its included with your subscription. (I'm assuming you mean you purchased a subscription to the site.) :thumbsup2

Your planner is looking really great! :woohoo:

Great minds think alike!! I just saved the TP cheat sheets to print in my Mini-planner the other day too. I've never used TP before - I used TGM the last time, and it was wonderful - but that was when he was starting to go down hill, and I've heard that his site has gone even more down hill since, so I've opted to try something new.

The other thing I'd like to print for my mini-planner, is a few of Robo's maps that are pertinant to our trip (like the walking path from DHS to BW - because we've never been there before)... IMO - he has the best maps ever, I printed a few for our last trip too - and they were immensely helpful! His maps can be found here:

http://www.stitchkingdom.com/maps/

I counted the pages in my Mini-Planner yesterday, and there is space for 40... I counted that I have 36 in my "waiting to print" file... So I only have room for 4 more, and I am a little nervous that I am going to have to weed out a bunch at the end.

I love your M-P updates, keep them comin'!!!!

I agree - I loaded Lines on my phone the other day... Nothing is better than being on break at work, and see how fast I can get to Splash! :thumbsup2

:woohoo: :woohoo: Great minds indeed! I have also been planning on adding a few of those awesome maps!

You already have 36 pages!? Oh boy, I only have about 20! Procrastination at its finest I suppose. Well that is just inspiration to get working! :thumbsup2

I second this! Robo's maps are amazing! He has a map for everything, too! :thumbsup2

I've never tried TGM -- I've heard too many mixed reviews, actually ... I just didn't hear many good reviews. So I never gave TGM my money. But I was happy to drop money on the TP website -- lots of great reviews and a blogger I follow strongly endorses TP. Plus, I have used them since 2009 and never had issues.

I agree - I loaded Lines on my phone the other day... Nothing is better than being on break at work, and see how fast I can get to Splash! :thumbsup2

Oh thank goodness I'm not the only one. :lmao: I'll be sitting on the couch and yell to DH: HEY the wait for Soarin is only 35 minutes right now!

Or ... Wow, look at this! Wait time is 280 minutes for TSM! :scared1:

(Those are just random numbers, but you get the picture.)

I used it soo much in the parks this May. And as much as I'm ashamed to admit ... they have "badges" or "achievements" you can earn. My OCP is now insisting I "win" at collecting badges. :rolleyes1 Yep, I have to collect all the badges now. :lmao:

But its also great, because it does tell you when the next show is, and what time the parade is. So its like a mini-calendar in one. Also, it actually has the touring plans built into the app. Park Hours, etc. It's my FAVORITE app on my phone -- that I use at WDW anyway. :thumbsup2

(Okay, so Facebook is up there, too -- since I'm all: "I'm standing in line to ride RnRC for the 5th time today! (picture)" :rotfl2: ) Yep, I do live updates from the park to FB. :rolleyes1

Yes, I have it! :thumbsup2 I'm excited to put it to good use! And thank you! :goodvibes Those spreadsheets took me AGES to finally get them how I wanted them. :surfweb:

I know, I think I am going to end up doing a lot of resizing in Photoshop. For some strange reason, they all saved as different sizes - and that will drive me BONKERS! Must have everything the same. LOL

:woohoo: :woohoo: Great minds indeed! I have also been planning on adding a few of those awesome maps!

Glad you're planning to print some of Robo's maps. :) Yes, I have 36 pages, but that includes all the maps I want to print, I am sure some of them I can get away with not printing, since I have most of them memorized. :thumbsup2 It's a page filler, if nothing else, when I am all done, and I don't know what to do with the empty pages.

I second this! Robo's maps are amazing! He has a map for everything, too! :thumbsup2

The only thing he doesn't have a map for, that I want a map for, is the "hidden" pathway in AK that goes under the ToL, I know about where the entrance is, but it's a bit tricky to find, and it would be easier if I had a map. :thumbsup2 Oh well, we have 2 days in AK - I should have plenty of time to get lost and find it. :rotfl2:

I did love TGM when we used it last time - I learned a lot about timing, especially meal timing. I am a bit nervous about TM, it doesn't seem like they are as in depth as TGM was. :confused3

:thumbsup2

ROFL... Yes, I randomly yell out wait times... and the family rolls their eyes at me, as I am going down the big drop on Splash. Buzz kill for sure. :rolleyes1 Just wait until I save them a trip all the way across the park for POTC because it's closed - then who's the :wizard: LOL

(Okay, so Facebook is up there, too -- since I'm all: "I'm standing in line to ride RnRC for the 5th time today! (picture)" :rotfl2: ) Yep, I do live updates from the park to FB. :rolleyes1

OK, I seriously need to friend you. LOL

I know, I think I am going to end up doing a lot of resizing in Photoshop. For some strange reason, they all saved as different sizes - and that will drive me BONKERS! Must have everything the same. LOL

:rotfl2: that is what took me the longest! Sizing everything! I cannot tell you how many pages I threw out because they werent how I wanted them!

I'm hoping to have a full Mini-Planner by the time I'm done....I do not want empty pages! But we'll see how that works out...with it being such a weird size an all! :rotfl:

I think its a written law that everything must be the same size and match and all that other hoopla. :rolleyes1 I can't imagine not having everything look perfect. Hooray for OCP! :lmao:

The only thing he doesn't have a map for, that I want a map for, is the "hidden" pathway in AK that goes under the ToL, I know about where the entrance is, but it's a bit tricky to find, and it would be easier if I had a map. :thumbsup2 Oh well, we have 2 days in AK - I should have plenty of time to get lost and find it. :rotfl2:

Hmm... I saw a map for it once. Are you sure it's not on the site? Because I thought it was a Robo map. Maybe I'm thinking of another entrance. Or maybe it was on someone's PTR or TR. :confused3

I did love TGM when we used it last time - I learned a lot about timing, especially meal timing. I am a bit nervous about TM, it doesn't seem like they are as in depth as TGM was. :confused3

I don't think they go so far in depth on the site because they do in their book. (I think, anyway.) They write the Unofficial Guide to WDW book. I always buy Birnbaum's book, though -- but was actually considering buying UG for this upcoming trip. I have an old UG that I picked up on discount for like 2007 or something when I was planning our 2009 trip. But a lot of it is just trusting their plans. And with Lines, they give you estimates for the waits all day, too. So if you think you want to ride something around 5pm, you can see the estimated wait for it -- which is what I love about TP.

For sure! :thumbsup2 Nothing worse than trekking all the way to the other side to see the wait is unbearable or the attraction is down. I always check the user-submitted waits to see how current it is, too!

C'mon over! Maybe I can post more links and it have your user icon show up. :lmao:

I tell ya, its a written law that it has to be the same size! :lmao: I have done exactly the same thing. Write up the info, check it in print preview, then tweak, tweak, tweak until its 110% perfect.

Empty pages would drive me nuts, too! If you end up with space to fill, I'm sure we can all give you some ideas! :thumbsup2 Can't wait to see the finished product! popcorn::
