~ DEADLIEST CATCH ~ Season 6

I thought it was very touching that Jonathan was there for the boys.

I thought it was very touching that Jonathan was there for the boys.

It really was. He thought he needed a vacation, but his angel clearly had work for him to do off the ship. I hadn't heard anything about him being in Anchorage before they showed him taking off, so I had hoped that Andy would be able to catch him. Its always so hard to tell because they don't have a time line shown on screen.

So sad! I felt so bad for his son trying to decide whether or not to go out or to go be with his dad. He knew what Phil would want him to to do but I was glad to see him go be with his dad and brother.
It was obvious how much Phil was respected by the other captains by the way they reacted to the news. It was definitely raw and real!

We all have the vision of hindsight seeing that events are several months past, but his heart knew what the rest of him did not want to admit. His dad was dying and you go spend whatever time you have left with him. A lot of people don't get that chance. There was nothing to do on the boat as it was. Not certified to captain it so make arrangements for a longterm dock and go.

so sad...:guilty: its like knowing end of a good movie, but still watching :sad2:

I loved that Jonathan was there, i was to hoping Andy would catch him.

I wondered how he got there.....I remembered him saying he was going on vacation, I guess that's who his brother called on the ship and said "if you could stop by"..........I missed who he was talking to.

I remember watching "after the catch" a few weeks ago and when they were discussing Phil, Jonathan got choked up and had to leave the room. I guess we know now it's because he was there in the middle of alot of it.

I was so touched by Johnathan as well. I hope Phil's boys take comfort in how well loved and respected their dad was/is. Someone on another forum described Phil as, "the best friend I never knew."

I was also very touched by the senior member of Phil's crew, I think his name is Freddie, and how he was so obviously shaken up by what happened but trying to gently nudge Josh in the right direction.

I am not a huge fan of Keith, but his emotions were so touching as well when he started crying and said somthing like, "please, please give him a break big guy."

Up here After the Catch dídn't show. I thought Jonathon took off on the plane? Also, it didn't show the other captains reactions. Is there somewhere I can go to see the last bit?

At first I had forgotten that Jonathon left. I was thinking that maybe he would go and captain the Cornelia Marie. My guess is that he took a small plane from the port to a major city to catch another flight and that might be why he was in Anchorage.

I was kind of surprised that we didn't see Josh calling any family members. It just shows you how close the other crews are to each other- family.

Has anyone heard how Jake is doing with his addiction?

Very sad episode. :sad1:

I just read the article. I didn't realize that their mother had died. I think that it will be very emotional to watch next season when the rest of his ashes are spread at sea.

If you're referencing the mother mentioned in the article, I believe they mean Captain Phil's mom. Not sure where the boys' mom is.

Has anyone been watching any of the "After the Catch" shows? They are fantastic. Mike Rowe is the moderator. Those shows are so enjoyable to watch as all the Capt's reminisce the season. :goodvibes

This season has by far been the saddest. :sad1: Thanks for posting the obit. I thought Phil lived a few months after the stroke ... looks like just a few weeks. Just so sad, esp for the boys. Losing their father and now their lively hood; crabbing. What will become of the CM and all the other deckhands?

I thought that it was Phil's wife but after rereading the link, you're right. It does say his mother.

Yes, the above article talks about Captain Phil's mom.

I read something about one of the service/memorials that mentioned the boys mom being there.

I also read Phil's obituary and it mentions his children, including an older daughter:

WOW! Over 5,300 comments were left. It just goes to show how many lives he touched!

WAtching now....does anyone know what Jake from NW was celebrating 6 mo from? I know it was 6months sober, but what did he 'use'? If you think about it, that means hea was using last season.....hmmmmm.

Then again Edgar said 'work hard, when they go home, they play hard'

I wonder how common drug use is aboard the fishermen is?

Oh man, the tears are flowing...again.

Seeing Johnathan break down....wow....and I didn't care for him that much. I do now...the way he stepped up for those boys, my opinion has changed.

Does anyone know the name of tonights episode? It wasn't set to record now I need to find it

I don't watch this show, but my family & I were just in Seward on our Alaskan vacation and saw one of the boats from the show. I should have taken a photo. I did purchase a "deadliest catch" t-shirt from the gift store for my husband, which he liked.

Mine, too. Big time.

Another very sad episode last night. Coming from a family with a lot of addicts myself, I totally felt what Josh was saying to Jake. I tell you, fate was on their side by having Johnathan there when their dad was so sick.
