~ DEADLIEST CATCH ~ Season 6

I have mixed feelings on Keith, but I was very impressed with how he honored Phil in last nights episode. Leaving the full pot out there in Phils memory, and having the bell toll 8 times in silence - yeah, I was tearing up! Phil was always my favorite, and I feel terrible for his boys, but glad they got to spend a lot of time with him...not many people are that lucky.

What is the significance of 8 bells?

I felt bad for the new CM captain who had to be the one to tell Sig. You could tell he wasn't sure how to handle it. :sad1:

I forgot to ask about the bells, thanks so much on clearing that up :goodvibes

I am not a fan of Keith, but I was very touched by his tribute to Phil. I loved the show on Phils life that was on at 10. Wow did he live a wild life. It was a great show.

I was okay until Edgar started crying. :sad1: Then I got a little teary.

What really got me was when the NW passed by the Cornelia Marie and all the hands were out on deck, saluting the boat as they passed. :guilty:

The tribute show to Phil was great. It was neat seeing all those old pictures of him. In a couple, I could really see how much Josh looked like him when he was younger.

It was also nice that they interviewed the boys' Mom, Phil's ex wife. Jake sure looks a lot like her.

When the Northwestern went by the Cornelia Marie and it showed Jake sobbing, I lost it. That poor kid, his dad is still missing, and Phil was like a dad to him.

Yes Canadians, have your kleenexes ready. This episode was a heartbreaker. Very touching and the tribute to Phil was a wonderful insight to the man he was. How handsome he was! My nine-year-old son sobbed through the whole thing. He just loved him!

My hubby (who dosent tune in as much as my son and I) said "man this is kinda sad" my sobbing reply.."ya think"

did I see it on here or read somewhere else that Captain Phil had an older daughter as well?

It was good, and I think next week will be rough to watch, when everyone finds out :sad2:

Not a Keith fan here either, I just always get the "vibe" from the other Captains (and I could be off base here, just a personal thing) that Keith annoys them and that they "put up" with him...again maybe its me :confused3Sometimes when he talks and thinks something funny, no body else laughs or says anything....:confused3

Anyway I felt so bad that Jake left and wasnt there when his Dad passed away...I know that it is what Phil wanted but still I am sure even harder on the poor kid...[/QU

I feel the exact same way, however I did think it was nice what he did in Phil's memory. One of the only nice things I have seen him doing on the show since I started watching.

RIP Phil. :littleangel:

According to his obituary he has a older DD named Andrea who is 32. She just may not have wanted to do the show.

I thought I read once that Phil was married twice. But, last night's show didn't mention that or his daughter.

Also, Discovery has message boards with lots of great discussions going about the show and Phil. Click below and the Message Boards tab is on the right:

That was the point at which I lost it. Up until then, I was just misty-eyed at all that was going on, but seeing Jake react did me in. All I could think was how he lost two very important men in his life. :sad1:

Wow, this season has been hard to watch. I wonder what next season will bring. Oh, and seeing Rick Q. was kind of neat. I actually liked him back when he was on the show.
