DDP Question - Can we do this?

The gudiebook specifically states no sharing with people not on the plan (I always translated this to mean me giving them my credits).

Just for the record, I was allowed to do this twice on my trip from May 31-June8, at 'Ohana, and LTT. I was not allowed to at Le Cellier, or Mama Melrose:confused3 This worked out for us though, after cancelling a couple of dinners due to DD2s miserable behavior  :rolleyes2 We'd have wasted a couple of credits if we hadn't been allowed to (we transferred 2 from TS to CS as well. Not good use of credits, but not a total loss):confused3

I am just curious as to why the dining plan just doesn't let you use your credits any way you want as long as you had enough credits.
Most package deals like that are priced based on value, and the determination of value is based on the principle that they will be used as intended. Some of that includes the assumption that a certain number of credits will go unused or underused. The more flexible the manner in which the credits can be used, the less likely that credits will go unused or underused. That's similar to how park admission works -- they price a seven-day pass based on the principle that they will be used as intended, and that includes the passes being used by the one person, which, in turn, sometimes results in some days on some passes never getting used.

I would like to see the dining plan let you use your TS dinner credits for CS if that is what you would rather do.
I think the only reasons why we don't see that is because the POS systems simply aren't capable of support it everywhere, and/or because of the concern that it will prompt some customers to assume that they can work the system to bring about an exchange in the opposite direction as well.

This point KY Derby Girl made is also relevant to a lot of other threads in the forum this past week: 4CS credits unused, but still a good value... that's why their intention is for folks to use the Dining Plan as it is intended, including not sharing with folks not on the Dining Plan.
