DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Right. That's it. Time to drag all this High falutin' talk back to down to our normal level of discourse.
I'm calling it. Work week over. Everyone out. Last one in Dawa for some Disney's Select Makers Mark Boilermakers gets to take Jessie home. And let me tell ya, if she's inviting you back to take a look in her box, she ain't talkin' 'bout no cardboard. And then it's time to meet woody.

Have a great evening chaps. Cornwall out.

Morning all. Going in shortly for my job future meeting. I still have no idea what to do. I've weighed out everything, and there is no clear winner. I'm certainly not happy with the current job, but would more money help? The other job is an unknown, while offering more money. The thing that stands out for me is my youngest's HS tennis schedule. With my current job, I could be there to watch (or help coach) 4 every day except one. With the other job, that is an unknown.

Hope it goes well. My advice would be to look closely at the type of people you'd be working with/for and make the decision based on that. The sugar rush of a raise goes away after a few months, but the co-workers and bosses will be there for much longer.

Amen to that. Have a good weekend.

And, I never had to even make a decision. We met, and no counter offer was presented. Just keep working the same 20 hours, flexing off 1 month of overtime at the end of the year, and no more money. Continue doing a 40 hour job in 20 hours a week. I guess maybe it was just a way to get me to feel guilty to stay.

I told them I'll think about it over the weekend. I'm done. I'm taking the new job, and will just string them along to burn the rest of my sick leave. Now, I get to leave 2 jobs at the same time and start a new one.

Good luck. Hope you make the decision that works best for you.

Thanks.

Well, my current co-workers suck. So, maybe the unknown is an improvement.

Afternoon Dads! Norm best of luck with the job situation, Randall please find some rum and Dan thanks for calling it as it might just help me call it a bit early today myself. Enjoy the weekend boys!

Thanks.

Nicely done.

Whelp... problem solved?

Morning All,

Nice, quiet Saturday morning here. Fog is just starting to burn off and the crows and jays have been talking all morning.

Going to through up a link to a Zoom room and I'll put it over in the book of faces as well. It is an open room so anyone can get in without the host being there. I'll be on at some time this evening but we are visiting some friends so it may be later. I'm sure some of the regulars will be joining it at some time as well.

Have a great Saturday all.

My Friday was yesterday. Today is Saturday 1, tomorrow is Saturday 2.
My head hurts.
Probably because I have 13 Mondays in a row, then a Friday, and then 7 Saturdays.
Lather, rinse, repeat.
All I know is work is for the birds.
When do we all get to retire like Randall?

What happens when she asks you to ride bareback?!? 520793

Well, I suppose the silver lining is you didn't have to agonize over the decision.
Best of luck in your new path.

Morning all. Despite a lot of tequila, I'm back and ready for tennis this morning. Problem with tequila is that I don't make good eating decisions, so I need to get back on the keto train.

Whelp... problem solved?

Yup. And this was the option I really wanted to try in the first place.

Thanks. And remember, you can always retire tomorrow, but probably not like Randall. He is business partners with Bruce Wayne.

Good luck!

Thanks. I won't start the other until 1st week in September. I'll start using sick leave tomorrow though.

I can think of many problems with tequila. You probably should have left out "eating" in that statement. One of two alcohols I don't like the taste of...other is gin. Of course everclear is close to #3....that stuff really is rough.

Then you've hit the Bullseye.

Morning, gents.

Oh, how I relate to this...

In 6 years. Although I did get a retirement buy-out package the other day. But it was far too little compared to what I'd get if I just stick it out. So... tempting... but not that tempting.

Grab hold and try to stay on for 8 seconds.
:lmao:

Glad it worked out, then. :)

Struggled at tennis this AM, and really couldn't focus. It's not that I'm disappointed or angry. I'm at the exact place I was a couple of weeks ago when they offered the job. Both girls are having sleepovers with different friends tonight elsewhere, and DW and I went out to FIL's house. Maybe some shooting will clear my head.

I tried gin once and never again. Maybe I should try it again, but there are so many other good choices. I like vodka as well.

It's all relative. I planned to wait for the full 27 for my retirement, but piece of mind won out in the end. There are so many factors to consider. I never figured I would stop working, so I just needed to find a comparable pay job. The next will be enough money for the 2nd house, and then maybe retire. But, we could probably make it on my retirement check now and DW working, with a really tight budget.

Hey! Hey! Hey! Let's not do anything drastic here!

::yes:: I totally get that. It works for some, tight for others and unworkable for others.

Pun intended. And, it certainly helped. I killed a 6 pack of beer cans - twice. :lmao:

Before leaving on my three weeks of flex OT, vacation at WDW, and then 2 weeks quarentine, I left a list of work that had to be done. Some was time specific, others were scheduled appointments. None of it was done, and everything had been cancelled. I figured that "give a chance to re-consider" meant that they either were too lazy or incompetent to do my work. So, in that Friday guilt-trip meeting, I reminded them how much had not been completed. I said that I would cover the current schedule for the next month or so to help transition, but wasn't re-scheduling the last 5 weeks or taking new appointments.

As there was nothing scheduled today, this morning was my first of three sick days this week. It feels great. That chapter of my life is over and I'm ready to move on.

Morning folks.

Well... I did it. Never in a million years did I think I’d ever run 10K. Took almost an hour and a quarter (average 7’20”/km), but ran the whole thing with no stops.

A view along the way:

Next time try drinking them instead of shooting them. ::yes::
