DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Apparently it had to do with the little mouse they keep hidden inside the box on the pole. Apparently the little guy pulled a hammie and couldn't continue running, so the wheel stopped moving, thus powering the internet. Poor little guy.
Had my test Saturday morning, and now I wait for the results. I'm honestly not expecting to pass this one, really didn't study all that much, but I used it more to judge where I'm at and need improvement.
Pretty good plan, actually. :)
nothing seems to be truly square in the house
No house is. They need to aim for trueness, though. You should wind up cutting tiles at some point.
I do portraits, headshots (though I'm just beginning this one) and theatrical production photos for marketing,
Ah! Had no idea. :)
Bye Bye Birdie was just one production I took pictures for.
Looked. :thumbsup2
:teeth: Not usually, but I do like to state my opinion from time to time, and that does seem to be enough for me to kick the hornet's nest.
Opinion? I thought you weren't allowed to have opinions anymore?

:rolleyes1
Nice view!
Thanks. Doesn't get foggy here very often.
The only thing I have to do is watch lettuce grow. Wow, I really need to get to work before I lose what's left of my brain.
:lmao:
I know it's a comedy skit, so watch out for the large, falling icicles in order to not shoot your eye out.
:thumbsup2
Actually, knowing what usually happens to the teams you root for, this is great news! :stir:
:rotfl:

Evening Guys,

Vacation travel day was a wild one. In our 4 hours of driving time, we ran into 4 major storms that forced everyone to slow down because of the water on the road and the lack of visibility. In Summerside, PEI, the streets were flooding and the grocery store we stopped at had to close because the water was coming up through the drains in the floor. Lots of lightning along the way as well.

Weather is supposed to be good for the next few days so we are looking forward to see a part of PEI we haven't spent much time in.

I've never been an Islanders fan until now.
(Sorry Mark)

Hate both teams, I'm conflicted.

Return to Green Gables: From Fiction to Film / So Obsessed With
Green Gable Bar and Grill?

Morning, Gents! So I mentioned that my wife decided to re-tile the kitchen with individual linoleum tiles, so that project continues. Outside that not much is going on. Had a good day yesterday and will hopefully have one today. Have a good day, gents, and we'll chat on the other side.

My youngest watched something about propagating lettuce. So, here's something new.

Well lettuce pray that it grows. :teeth:

Dual hurricanes in the Golf of Mexico. Who had that for August 2020 bingo hell? There's a chance we get the remnants here on Friday evening.

Not me. I'm hoping that my parents get something in New Mexico, Lord knows they need the rain. Although the type of rain that they'd get would probably do more harm that good, so let's hope that they get the extreme edge of the the storm with somewhat, kinda sort of light rain? Maybe. Hoping. Praying. And I'm hoping for some rain up my way as well.

That made me tired reading all that. Life felt that wat when mine were younger, having to drive them to all the stuff we signed them up for. I'm thankful it has slowed down. As for the vermin in the internet lines, I use to think something similar. At the old office building, when it rained, it seemed like the internet either stopped working or dramatically slowed down. I said the rats were drowning in the rain, and couldn't swim to deliver the messages.

I was tired typing it. Since my daughter's dance classes are during the afternoon, my wife takes care of running her to dance classes. Sometimes I have to take her to piano lessons, but I bring a book.

It's amazing how much we depend on the internet now. We lost power during the storm a couple of weeks ago and had no idea what to do with ourselves.

I know, right?! We've gotten so connected that we've become use to it.

:teeth:

Pretty good plan, actually. :)

I have a few a year, and I think that was one of them. I didn't mention this, but this test is hard. There's 150 questions, and I get 5 hrs 40 min. to take the test, so that works out to about 2 min 20 sec. for each question. I've always had to guess on a good number of questions because I simply run out of time, I'm slow at reading and looking things up. Well, this time I didn't have to guess on so many, so I'm getting quicker...and I remembered more than I thought. So while this was my throw away test, it was a really good judge on what I need to work on. I've already started working on sections I know I need work on, so it's worked already.

No house is. They need to aim for trueness, though. You should wind up cutting tiles at some point.

We know we're going to have to cut tile at some point, but what we're trying to do is minimize the odd cuts by re-thinking the pattern and where we begin, and what we use to go off of. The whole area's been cleaned out and prepped, so now we, or rather my wife, as she does this when I'm at work, can begin the process. They're individual peal and stick linoleum tiles, so easy to put down.

Ah! Had no idea. :)

It's something I've gotten into. I love photography, and I also studied music in college. There's also a lot of community theater companies down here, so plenty of opportunity for headshots, and not to mention weddings. We're a destination for weddings, so hoping to get into that as well.

thanks

Opinion? I thought you weren't allowed to have opinions anymore?

:rolleyes1

I usually keep my opinions to myself, however, I do sneak around and throw out an opinion here and there before the opinion police show up. I'm good at it. :teeth:

Thanks. Doesn't get foggy here very often.

Well it looked nice.

Hmmm...that is a very good point. But I can't bring myself to root for the Flyers.

I may have told the story somewhere before, but I'll tell it again.
As a kid, I wasn't into sports at all. My dad was a Montreal Canadiens fan and always watched their games.
When the Canadiens were in the playoffs one year (I can't remember which exactly) I decided I would watch the games with my dad, and see what all this hockey fuss was all about.
That year the Canadiens and Flyers met and even though I was new to watching hockey and only 12 or 13 years old, I remember thinking it was a nasty series, I particularly remember disliking Flyers goalie Ron Hextall. The Canadiens lost, my dad and I were not pleased, and it left a lasting impression on me.

They say things go in cycles, so I'm taking that to mean 2021 is going to be the greatest year of all time.
I really hope so.

Nothing worth babbling about today so with that go Islanders, er Flyers, or Bruins? Have a good one guys!
I'll always cheer for a Canadian team, but I think Vancouver's chances are slim to none.
Right now, anyone but the Flyers. (did I mention that already?)

Those storms didn't make it this far east, but I heard about the heavy rains. Sounds like it was a wild time. Hope it didn't put too much of a damper on your vacation (pun intended).

No idea how you do 2 weeks in a row of this stuff, Jeff.
After 5 or 6 days, you just go numb and forget daylight exists.

I didn't find it too bad over the winter/spring, but it was really tough this summer. I didn't enjoy it.

In the 167th Groundhog day, the lettuce generated some tomatoes?

DW's morning pick from garden. Randall, not sure how you handle this retirement stuff. My projected start date is September 16.

Unless you're fighting John McClane.

Well, that didn't actually turn out so well for Hans Gruber.

As for dependence on the Internet, I'm willing to give part of it up. I still need it to watch West Ham United. I can have fun without it, but the world now runs on it.

Opinion? I thought you weren't allowed to have opinions anymore?

As long as they are backed by the MSM narrative, then they are permitted.

Well lettuce pray that it

Ugh. :sad2: :lmao:

2nd midnight shift almost done (another hour to go), 2 more to go. No idea how you do 2 weeks in a row of this stuff, Jeff.

Agreed.

The years run together now. I remember one playoff series where the Flyers lost to Montreal, but Hextall did beat the crap out of Chris Chelios for some reason.

'll always cheer for a Canadian team, but I think Vancouver's chances are slim to none.

Carter Hart helped Canada win the World Juniors a couple of years ago. This means nothing to you?

Well, that didn't actually turn out so well for Hans Gruber.

It was a sold strategy at the time.

Morning... er... afternoon, gents.

Whelp, up about 2-3 hours earlier than I wanted. Yay. Not.

There's 150 questions, and I get 5 hrs 40 min. to take the test
I've always had to guess on a good number of questions because I simply run out of time, I'm slow at reading and looking things up.
So it's not only a knowledge thing, but a time management thing.

I've shot two weddings and while the results were fine, it's not something I particularly care for. I don't like the pressure. You get one chance on so many shots and if it doesn't work... do you just say "Oh, sorry. Can you say "I do" again?"

Like that story. Remember Hextall. Not many liked him, but he was good at what he did.
After 5 or 6 days, you just go numb and forget daylight exists.
I believe you.
I didn't find it too bad over the winter/spring, but it was really tough this summer. I didn't enjoy it.
This surprises me not at all.

Must be nice. Do you not sleep or did you not have a much for today?
I decided I would watch the games with my dad, and see what all this hockey fuss was all about.
Really? I thought you guys north of the border lived and breathed hockey upon coming out of the womb?

Good, right?

Whelp, up about 2-3 hours earlier than I wanted. Yay. Not.

Lots of coffee, my friend.

Yeah, it's a tough test.

So it's not only a knowledge thing, but a time management thing.

It really is, but I'm getting better at it.

Thanks

I've done one wedding, and one Bat Mitzvah, which is like a wedding because it was really all day, and they're ok, they certainly pay more than the average portrait gig. What I did at the Bat Mitzvah was range the room, as wasn't evenly lit throughout, and had a settings all set in my mind for different parts of the room. So when I showed up to a darker spot, I'd up my ISO and decrease my shutter speed for more ambient light. So I had a system that worked for the most part. But there were those times when I just missed a moment.

😆

Except I don't drink coffee. May have had some ice tea.

So it seems. :)

I read that wrong. I thought increase your shutter speed. Blur. Not what you want. Then I re-read it.

Morning, Gents! Had a good day yesterday. My attorney's been having me draft more Purchase and Sale Agreements, which aren't that hard right now as the ones I've been working on are pretty straight forward. The managing partner came to me yesterday and asked if I'd draft one for him, and of course I said, "Sure." I did it and turns out it was wrong, not because of what I did, but because he told me to use the wrong document. See, rather than draft a P&S from scratch every time, attorney's will keep a standard form ready to use and just change what they need to fit the deal...and he told me to use the wrong one. So, while I was wrong, it was correct because I was following instructions. :thumbsup2 So yesterday went well. Otherwise things are going pretty good. Have a good day, gents, and I"ll see you on the other side.

TTFN

Except I don't drink coffee. May have had some ice tea.

Tea has caffeine in it...so that should help.

I can't knock the Flyers goalie this time around (it's not 1986 after all).
When the Canadiens can't score on him in 7 periods or whatever it was, he's doing something right.
I honestly didn't realize he was on the Canadian World Juniors team, but to be fair I am a casual observer of hockey (and sports in general). I'll watch some games, but I don't pay a lot of attention to players names. It's easier to be a couch potato when it's just the red guys vs. the orange guys.

Really? I thought you guys north of the border lived and breathed hockey upon coming out of the womb?
Many do.
Many also have a Tim's double double running through their veins from birth (anyone besides @pkondz and @declansdad get that one?)
But I went against the grain.
I couldn't (and still can't) skate to save my life.
And for me it's most definitely tea, hot or iced, as her Majesty would have intended. (hope you're enjoying the getaway @londontime )

Except I don't drink coffee. May have had some ice tea.
Amen to that, brother. See above.
