Oddly enough, my wife and I consider our daughter to be the "easy" one. She's got a good head on her shoulders.
Met your kids...can't argue....LOL.
Though your son seemed cool enough at TPC. Scored the autographs he wanted.

Cool sunny day and stuck in a meeting. At least the host brought donuts. Still no word from the insurance company other than the car was declared a total loss. I'd like enough to at least pay off the other car but that won't happen. The kids have an in-service on Friday and SWMBO has the day off so we will run to the big city to look at cars. Need something bigger since DS is 6'1" and DD is 5'9" and bothe have an inch or two more to grow.
Well, if I get down there like I'm planning within the next year or two, then y'all can park your RV at my place. I won't take cash, but I'll take bacon or dole whips as payment.
They tend not to get pregnant quite as often, though.
True but they usually have a part to play in that issue.
Ok, I dont normally complain about the heat but I am getting old and fat and I'm done with summer for the year. There was a front that is going to bring the temperature down to 101 today. It has been 103-105 for a couple weeks now and I have had enough.

MLS is acceptable soccer. I don't think it's fair to say they are 2nd tier. On the whole, I think a middle of the road MLS Team would be competitive with any first division team, and, Portland or Seattle could stay top flight English football for 2 seasons.... barely.
I would LOVE MLS to market themselves better. If MLS treated itself the way Mexico does its baseball league, it could be a boon. Have European subs (thinking 20/21 year olds) that aren't getting the playing time on their home club play competitive soccer in MLS for the summers. Develop the "kids" with the "seasoned" European players. And a smattering of USA born & bred players.
Also, I *know* that on Saturday Mornings, Premier League will be on NBCSN. I have no clue when MLS will be on my TV. That type of scheduling may lead to regional devotion, but not someone like me, that doesn't have a home team, with the ability to follow along.
MLS has to schedule around Football, Baseball and to a lesser extent hockey I think. Some good old fashioned protectionism would be great for the American Player I think. Open a few doors as it were.
Real life update. I'm still going to keep trying, but it looks like I might not hit my goal before Sep trip (31 days until checkin). My goal was to be down 100 lbs by then.
Which was what I was saying. The Championship is the second tier of English football. On the whole, I think a middle of the road MLS Team would be competitive with any first division team, and, Portland or Seattle could stay top flight English football for 2 seasons.... barely.
Yep, just too much needle on FB. It's supposed to be fun, all this stufGot dragged in once. Didn't like it. So I quit.
OK, I'll be the newbie. Were the threads changed every year, or did the Dis shut the old ones, or did someone just start the new one?Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Congrats on the 1,000 page mark, this thread started back on 12/10/2014, wow! I looked back to who were regulars back then and still are around today on a regular basis:
Randall
Rob - who used to keep stats of how many posts, etc.
Darcy
Norm
Mark
Myself
CJ - he'll still be with us on page 2,000 as far as I'm concerned.
sorry if I missed anyone else on first 10 pages
Lots of guys went to all FB or just stopped checking in at all. Pretty cool that 7 of us have been regular around here for that long, except for those of ya that have to read our thoughts ...................
That's still on my bucket list. One day.And I want to get a Marathon Morning photo with any / all of the disdads that are running the full in 2019.
I bet you have mate, that sounds awful. It has been 103-105 for a couple weeks now and I have had enough.

Randall should answer this, but, I will. On the old boards, the threads would lock at 250 pages, or there about. So, around thread 5 or 6, a game started where they'd run and try to get the last post of the thread. so some would lock at 250 pages, but others, if the posts were smaller, would go to page 268 or 273 or so.OK, I'll be the newbie. Were the threads changed every year, or did the Dis shut the old ones, or did someone just start the new one?

Congrats on the progress you have made so far. It takes rare dedication to stick with your plan as long as you have.Real life update. I'm still going to keep trying, but it looks like I might not hit my goal before Sep trip (31 days until checkin). My goal was to be down 100 lbs by then.
Why, you might ask? Probably not, but I'll tell ya anyway...
Once I got to 83 lbs, it was about 4 weeks before I lost any more.
Once I got to 87 lbs, it was about 6 weeks before I lost any more.
Once I got to 90 lbs, it was about 4 weeks before I lost any more.
I just got to 93 lbs a few days ago.
I've done a lot of research and I know there are likely several factors.
1) I have less to lose now than I did, so 1 lb is a greater % of my weight now.
2) I'm working out and building muscle, so muscle gain is counteracting fat loss on the scale.
3) plateaus are normal
4) I've been overweight for a LONG time, so my body is not wanting to get rid of some of this I've had for decades.
5) I'm older and carrying more weight in older age is normal and not indicative of poor health.
BUT....IT SUCKS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Okay, enough of my whining...I now return you to discussions of bacon and dole whips.
The old page limits were because of the servers they used to have, they would bog down on very long boards. Once they switched over to the new hardware they were able to dump the limit. The new service was also mobile ready so they dumped the app too. If anybody remembers trying to get that to work. I remember Pete taking about it on the show when Corey got everything up and running. Apparently they were still using the same system Pete had from when it was just his blog site.Randall should answer this, but, I will. Then Emma's Dad would start a new thread, and everyone would race to get a post on the first page of the new thread. After a while, Cinderella's fella started doing them, i don't know when that change happened.

You really should go back and read every word. That type of wisdom will change your life.
Thanks Norm. Pizza...there are several keto pizza dough options (some really good, some so so). The beer...not a concern for me...can't help ya there. I do know that after the first week or two, the cravings for the carbs aren't there ALMOST entirely (every once in a while I'll smell something and there will be a craving). I honestly can say I can eat this way the rest of my life. The food is GOOD and while there are some things I miss, the things I get to eat more that make up for it. If you've ever had steak with garlic butter on it, you can understand why I'm a happy camper. Did I mention I can eat as much bacon as I want? That is terrific though. The challenge will be to keep it off by continuing to eat the way you are now. I'm trying to lose weight and strengthen my knee, but I don't know how long I can last without pizza and beer.
Very good complaint to have!Hello Dads, I hope you’re all doing well, though I haven’t gone back to read the posts I’ve missed the past week. Storming the castle has been taking up most of my time. But that’s a good complaint to have!
It’s been a good trip so far, the weather has mostly cooperated with only two rainy afternoons, but that’s Florida in summer. The heat has been knocking us out pretty good though and we’ve taken breaks back to the resort most afternoons. Speaking of the resort, I’m happy with ASMu overall. I do miss the double sinks from the moderates and the food court options are more limited.
Off to Mickey’s Halloween party tonight! Here’s a couple pictures for you - I may end up doing a trip report eventually.

The good old days. Race to the most posts, post on page 1, page ownership, super page ownership, and last word post in the thread. Rob, aka Stats, posted the stats. Don put together the new thread each time before handing on that honor to Randall, with the same first 10 posts. We had Dis dad man laws, nemesis-ises, membership #s, and started and closed a thread on a leap year day one year. Then, the mods gave us our own sub-forum, which started the prayer page, brag page, fantasy sports page, etc. The first DisDad Club Convention happened because of these Disboards. Then, we had one whole thread deleted along the way for some drunk posting of photos. Then, many left to go to their own bulletin board & podcast group. Then, dis dad FB groups. You really should go back and read every word. That type of wisdom will change your life.
