DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Checking in after WDW trip and 10 days of work hell only to find out our friend CJ has passed. Although I never got to meet CJ he was great to chat with here on the board. One thing I can say he was very proud off Andriana, and loved doing things with her from diving to some great trips even that 21st Bday beer they had some Great times together. I am glad that Andriana is going to follow her dreams and I am sure she will go far, I am sure he is watching over his little girl:littleangel:.

IMO He was a Great Dad and loved to spend time with his daughter:thumbsup2

You never know when your time is going to be up. As I'm getting older I've been finding more excuses to go on trips and spend more and more time with my kid, cause in the end although I really don't know for sure, I really don't think in the end anybody ever says I wish I did more work at the office or around the house:confused3. Enjoy your Family:grouphug:

Funny you should mention that...

It was a trip to Disney with every picture of me having my face in my phone that convinced me to get out of management. Haven't looked back since.

On a side note listening to you guys here and elsewhere---thank God we had a boy.

They come with their own set of challenges (more so in the late teens and twenties), but...
They also tend to take after us, so it's not like dealing with something that you ain't seen before.

(and probably deserve to by challenged by... if we're honest)

Top O the Mornin Dads and Happy Friday Eve! Congrats on the 1,000 page mark, this thread started back on 12/10/2014, wow! I looked back to who were regulars back then and still are around today on a regular basis:
Randall
Rob - who used to keep stats of how many posts, etc.
Darcy
Norm
Mark
Myself
CJ - he'll still be with us on page 2,000 as far as I'm concerned.
sorry if I missed anyone else on first 10 pages
Lots of guys went to all FB or just stopped checking in at all. Pretty cool that 7 of us have been regular around here for that long, except for those of ya that have to read our thoughts ...................

Well said and we all need to remember what is really important.
I hope that worked out for you. Since July my bathroom has not been the same , after waiting 3 weeks for some of the fixtures to come from Germany, I can say they are all now installed goodintighten :rotfl2:, as of now almost 2 months later the shower door should be done next week and the I only need the vanity light done.:confused3:confused::drinking1
Good luck with the stretch run there.

Sure rub it in guys. Have one of each and will tell yas, from 16 -21 the girl was way easier than the boy from a responsible and maturity perspective, not the mother daughter battle royal perspective mind you.
You lucked out on that one. After our 2nd daughter my DW wanted to try for a boy but I said heck no with my luck it will be another girl and Im not sure all of us would make it thru that.

MLS = European Retirement League.

The impetus is to put 70,000 people in seats--not winning or losing. If that were the case, there would be a relegation process in place, and there isn't.

They might survive one season or so if they got lucky EPL wise...MIGHT. To quote Jack Sparrow "Not Probable. Not not possible".

They would be eliminated quickly in the Champions League.

Sad that USA still can't support soccer. It is such a great to watch.

So sad to hear about CJ. I went back thru to catch up on what happened. Hope the PP is holding up as well as can be expected after her loss.
I let my DW know he had passed and she said "isn't he the one you guys were gonna park an RV at his house and move in?" :rotfl2:

I'm still hoping to make retirement in Florida a reality.

Cool sunny day and stuck in a meeting. At least the host brought donuts. Still no word from the insurance company other than the car was declared a total loss. I'd like enough to at least pay off the other car but that won't happen. The kids have an in-service on Friday and SWMBO has the day off so we will run to the big city to look at cars. Need something bigger since DS is 6'1" and DD is 5'9" and bothe have an inch or two more to grow.

Ok, I dont normally complain about the heat but I am getting old and fat and I'm done with summer for the year. There was a front that is going to bring the temperature down to 101 today. It has been 103-105 for a couple weeks now and I have had enough.

Good luck with the car shopping

It's always time for another road trip.

Dang shame it's just not always possible.

True dat.

Oddly enough, my wife and I consider our daughter to be the "easy" one. She's got a good head on her shoulders.

I was less afraid of raising boys. Just because I figured I knew what they were thinking at most times. Wouldn't dream of assuming that with a girl.

I've always liked the dialogue here. Easier to miss a couple of days and jump right back in without missing much. I feel like it's easier to get to know people here, too. The FB group added a ton of guys very quickly and I had no idea who any of them were, so that made me less likely to chime in very often over there.

That said, I find Facebook to be the Pit of Misery. For many MANY reasons.

Dilly dilly!

So you have the donuts going for you, which is nice.

I read, but...
To me at least, there seems to be a rather different tenor to the chatter over that way.
And I get the feeling that most of 'em aren't really talking to me and would just assume I didn't try to join in their reindeer games...

Tonight on FS1, it's the New York Darby in MLS between Red Bulls and NYCFC. They are 2nd & 3rd in MLS. I wonder how they would stack up in EPL or Champions League?

They would get relegated from one and not even qualify for the other IMHO. MLS looks like mid table Championship (second tier). I'll take a look at the game though, I love a good handbags.

MLS is acceptable soccer. I don't think it's fair to say they are 2nd tier. On the whole, I think a middle of the road MLS Team would be competitive with any first division team, and, Portland or Seattle could stay top flight English football for 2 seasons.... barely.

I would LOVE MLS to market themselves better. If MLS treated itself the way Mexico does its baseball league, it could be a boon. Have European subs (thinking 20/21 year olds) that aren't getting the playing time on their home club play competitive soccer in MLS for the summers. Develop the "kids" with the "seasoned" European players. And a smattering of USA born & bred players.

Also, I *know* that on Saturday Mornings, Premier League will be on NBCSN. I have no clue when MLS will be on my TV. That type of scheduling may lead to regional devotion, but not someone like me, that doesn't have a home team, with the ability to follow along.

I have 5 boys, 1 girl. Gender thus far hasn't made any of the kids more or less difficult. From my perspective. Some of the kids are more or less difficult, but not based on Gender.

Definitely some old school guys around here...I have sort of done both over the years, but as time grew shorter, the cell phone went faster....LOL>

I try to keep up with both, but admittedly, my disboard postings are bunched up, usually. I'm posting regularly for a week or 2, then not so much, then 6 months later, more postings.

However, because I am going to the DDCC #7 BBQ, i'm trying to stay caught up both places. And I want to get a Marathon Morning photo with any / all of the disdads that are running the full in 2019.

Got dragged in once. Didn't like it. So I quit.

Yep. Plus I sorta miss the old Romper Room feeling of a good message board. FB is the wild wild west.

Regarding the kids...fair enough....to quote William Munny "I got lucky in the order"....LOL (Unforgiven)

MLS has to schedule around Football, Baseball and to a lesser extent hockey I think. Some good old fashioned protectionism would be great for the American Player I think. Open a few doors as it were.
