DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Monday morning. I have to been on campus this week, Mon to Thurs. At least Mon and Thurs are half days, but it is still a lot of driving. I've towel dried, swept, bleached, and Lysol sprayed the mold out of the Tumbler. I hope it is bearable today, as that smell will make for a long hour drive. For anyone who actually reads any of this, we lost our 2nd team match in Mixed Doubles and are now 1-1 on the season".

Then the Happy Hammers are your only logical choice, my friend. I picked really badly on my American Sports teams, so someone should have to share the pain.
.

Sadly, Kentucky does not have a pro team in any sport. We have the greatest college basketball team (UK Wildcats) which features a few pros each year, but that is about it. I'm 3+ hours away from two MLB teams, and 4 & 2 hours away from NFL teams. MLS would be closer to 6 hours. So, I really don't cheer for any particular one, which saves me a lot of money on team paraphernalia, as I own none. :lmao:

 Do it on my break.
But thanks!

I just use my smartphone to post at the office.

Some pics from out cruise a few weeks ago
Palo

That's a good looking bunch, other than the tall old guy in the middle. :lmao:

I said no to a cruise once DW told me I had to wear pants to dinner. And, I only wear coats and ties for wedding and funerals, which is kinda like two of the same thing (Al Bundy joke). :lmao:

Greetings from the Sunshine State. Earl did not come near us but the outlying bands sure have. Over six inches in the last couple of days. Wish we could export some of this water to the West. Missed a few days bailing water but will try to catch up.
.

It has been insanely hot here, followed by tons of rain, which just adds more humidity. I've been cutting my grass everytime I get the chance, as soon as it dries, to prevent trying to bail my yard. :sad2:

Hey TN DisDads. Need a little help. Family vacation of the in-laws (four families with four children ranging 2-7) will be converging at a cabin in Sevierville , TN for a extra long weekend. Looking for a few places to visit as a group and a good place for the adult children of the group (six of us total) to go out one night while the adult parents stay back and watch the kiddos. It doesn't have to be fancy but since there will be six of us, might be good if they took reservations (nice, but not required). Just looking for somewhere fun where we talk and get a nice meal and some drinks. Any suggestions?

Only stayed in Gatlinburg once, and just did all the tourist stuff with my family. Maybe Mike can give you some help here or Philip or Nate on FB.

Well look at that, I fly out for Disney Tomorrow. ;)

Just have to finish a couple of meetings today this morning and then finish a few things, maybe go with the girls to get our nails done. Okay, they get their nails done, I read a book, but three daughters here, it's kinda my life. :)

Morning Guys, another Monday has arrived.

In the office today but the Olympics will be streaming all day. Taking the day off tomorrow for some golf.

Have a good one.

With all the horses in KY, you could always sell it as hay. Spent last night helping a neighbor squeegeeing water out of their garage. I know how to party.

Morning Guys, another Monday has arrived.

A tweet from La Cava: "Monday it's a "I want to fake my own death, move to Mexico and live on #tacos and #tequila" kinda day.

Burritos would be nice too.

First day of school. DD is in 7th and DS in 9th. This setting an alarm thing is crazy. Would almost be enough to make me want to go back to homeschooling.

I won't comment on DW & DS shocking taste in teams, but if your over one year during the season, we normally have a ticket going. About 12 of us go together as season ticket holders. My FIL is a Man U fan, again he was born in Manchester, about 10 mins from the ground, so he comes with us every year to watch West Ham v Man U, and sits on his hands, because if he cheered an away goal, he be getting a free ride home with London's finest ambulance service.

Let me know if you want me to pick you up a half and half match day scarf and a programme for the Man U game, and I'll sort something out. Maybe something to do with Bacon and Dole whips.

So 1 Man U fan with 11 West Ham fans, that would be fun to watch. LOL

Scarf or a program would be cool gift, let me know what it would take.

Glad you stayed dry, that's a lot of water.

There could be worse way to live out your days.

Too early for school.

Can you get those pine-scented air freshners to hang from your mirror?

Have to agree with Norm, UK is the greatest college team and could probably take on a couple of the NBA teams each year.

Well look at that, I fly out for Disney Tomorrow. ;)

Have fun on the trip but stop hiding the fact that you are headed out to get a mani/pedi today. ;)

Hey guys. Thanks for not changing the locks. I've not been very active on the Dis lately, but just wanted to share a little video of the newest addition to the family.

He's 7 weeks old and proving to be a fighter. He's going to have to have another surgery sometime in the next couple of weeks to put in a shunt, but he's actually doing surprisingly well right now. Even with the pressure on his brain he's started showing us some positive neurological signs the last few days including being more attentive and able to interact with us. This video was from Saturday morning and this is the first time we've ever got him to smile while interacting with us. We've seen the sleeping baby smiles before but this was a pretty awesome moment.

Great news!!

WooHoo! And just like that, I'm not the new guy anymore. Welcome aboard! When are you going before Turkey Day? I'll be at BC with the fam damily the 15th-22nd

psst...Who gets to tell him about the hazing?

Nov. 18-23 at CR. Thanks for the welcome!

Top O the Mornin Dads! Spent a laid back day yesterday making BBQ ribs and all the trimmings as kids picked my ribs as their final regular at home Sunday dinner with the ILs. Kids are wrapping up packing for school. Booked flights for spring break to WDW and book DVC resort Thursday morning - with points and annual passes was a bit of a no brainer to head down as we are basically only looking at food in terms of cost. Survive the Monday guys - in general only 2-8 hours more depending on where you are at

Sorry only been there twice and both times rented a cabin and did most of our eating and beverage sampling in the cabin.

NIce to help out the neighbor and glad nothing major for your domicile

Enjoy and may the kids have a great year!
Good looking family. Guessing the bozo on your left in the Palo pic is the SIL to be. Since I did not read of anyone being lost at sea, I am assuming he made it back to shore.

That's a good looking bunch, other than the tall old guy in the middle. :lmao:

I said no to a cruise once DW told me I had to wear pants to dinner. And, I only wear coats and ties for wedding and funerals, which is kinda like two of the same thing (Al Bundy joke). :lmao:

Great pics; guessing a bit of planning went in to that one.

Now there's a good looking group.
Thanks gentlemen. The "Bozo" on my left does tend to bring down the overall looks of the family :rotfl: I do give the kid a hard time and he deals with it well. Regarding the coat and ties we only did that at Palo which is an additional charge restaurant, well worth it, and though most wear a coat both coat and ties are optional but we decided to get fixed up for some nice pics that night. The pirate look was done on Pirate Night which includes a special evening deck show and fireworks. We had the Goofy and Mickey ear pirate head gear from previous sailings and just order from some place on line the pirate Mickey & Minnie t-shirts to have some fun. The ship does pirate league for the kids and a lot of adults go all out with Pirate costumes.

Congrats on the new addition and the great news! He looks like a fighter. He has that steely glint in his eyes.

That call for bringing out the 'rats.

I was wondering what you were up to these days and just figured the crops were keeping you busy. Best wishes to the family and prayers for the little guy.

Too early for school.

Agree. Back in my day when we rode dinosaurs to school it was always the Wednesday after Labor Day until the third week in June. The kids do get a couple of days off at the end of September for Fall Break which used to coincide with tobacco harvest. Just going to have to learn to adjust to the new lifestyle. DS has less time in KY now than he has already been here. He can't wait to get out and it will go quickly.

So 1 Man U fan with 11 West Ham fans, that would be fun to watch. LOL
It would be more like 1 Man U fan with 20,000 West Ham fans, its all home supporters where we sit. Don't fancy his chances, even if I did stick up for him.
Scarf or a program would be cool gift, let me know what it would take.
I think we've got Man U in January time, I'll check and let you know. The scarves are normally about a tenner (they have half West Ham/Half Man U and the date) and the programmes are about a fiver. Let me know nearer the time, and we'll work something out about the dough.

Congrats, he looks like a little smasher!

Very nice. Coleslaw? Corn bread? Onion rings? What did you go for?

Yep, we get March Madness and a fair few college games over here. Watch it in the same way as you watch the football, I just enjoy the talent.

Great News! Way to go to your little fighter!

Basics, coleslaw, baked beans, corn on the cob, potato wedges, corn bread.

LOL

I'll try to remember about the scarves and program, thanks.
