DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Made it back safely. Tough drive when you are not 100%. Have to pick up the other dog soon and then an early night. Will catch up here later.

Anyone else tired of hearing Manning yelling OMAHA! twenty times before the ball is snapped? First time in my life I am rooting for Pittsburg.

I'll take the light at Maui and you can keep the tunnel.

This feels like a deal I should decline...

Anyone else tired of hearing Manning yelling OMAHA! twenty times before the ball is snapped? First time in my life I am rooting for Pittsburg.

I noticed a few times he'd yell "OMA set!" or something like that. Didn't work once.
Still won the game, though.

Morning all. Blue Monday and just done work. Off to catch some Zs.

Was that the photo you posted here a little earlier?

Yep, the kid spent a lot of time saying goodbye before she took her to the sitter and photos were part of it. I think the one that was affected the most was the mutt I didn't want. When I picked him up he was excited and i think he was thinking he was going to see his older sister when we get home. He did a search of the house inside and out and when he didn't find her, I think he was depressed. Still mopping around the house. We went outside to play but his heart wasn't into it.

I wonder if they'll do something about that in the future.
More water stations or something? Dunno.

I think it snuck up on everyone. It was cool so it didn't feel oppressive. Last year or the year before it was really hot and they added water stations and talked about warnings and I don't think the fallout was as bad as this race.

Saturday and in the office getting ready for a long, cold travel week from Tuesday-Saturday. :drive: I should have close to 1000 miles before it is over and never leave KY. This week is the highlight of my year with a beekeeping meeting. Beekeepers are good people, unlike administrators and government officials.

Safe travels. My Father-in-law was a beekeeper as a hobby. Great honey and a bonus was the candles he made from the wax. Still have a couple here somewhere. He was a great believer in bee stings helping arthritis in his hands. Would purposely tick off a bee or two so they would sting his hand. Yes, he was a little strange.

And the possibility of being swarmed by bees and stung multiple times is still less painful than meeting with "administrators and government officials".

True.

I hear there is quite the buzz around that meeting.

Boooo, Hissss. We are entering the bad pun zone.

Didn't have a Dole Whip in solidarity with you not being at DDCC 4.

Neither did I but I did have one of these...

Time to edit some more of our cruise pictures and get them uploaded. Have a good one.

Yes and we need a debrief on the cruise.

Yeah. It's called Maui. Can't come soon enough either.

Hawaii, fond memories. Best dive I ever did was the Manta dive at Kona. Have a blast. Any specific plans laid out?

Never beat Florida while he was at UT. 0-4. Omaha that Peyton.

I like beer!

Really, I thought you liked Old Fashions.

Happy Monday morning. It sure is cold here and two snow storms are predicted this week. Looks like I might yet have another vacation week. Too bad it's too cold to go outside and enjoy the time off.

I'm tired of it but I can't cheer for the Steelers.

I can't cheer for Steelers or Patriots. The NFL gave those two teams an unfair advantage, which makes pro-football closer to WWE. If the Patriots win, I might not watch the Superbowl this year.
I enjoyed the college season so much more this year. If only they would move the championship game back to an earlier time.

.

My grandfather kept bees as well. I enjoyed the honey. He didn't do candles or bee stings though.

It's amazing how close pets get. That was a big reason why we got the kitten we just lost, our older cat was depressed after we lost the dog. So far the cat has been pretty good so I hope he stays that way because losing 2 pets in 6 months is something none of us want to go through again.

I will post a bit about the cruise in a while, still going through photos.

I'm back. Trying to catch up around here. Got home around 2:30 am Sunday. And now I'm back at work.

Good Lord!!! It's the famous Mermaid shoes!!!
Have you found some for yourself yet?

Last Pic before she dropped the dog off at the sitter
Sorry about the dog CJ.

Quirky and a fun atmosphere. Mostly a lounge place with limited food items.
I liked Jock's. It could definitely use a little more on the food menu though. Although I think that would make it quite a bit harder to get in there.

Storms are supposed to blow in tomorrow so I think I am going to hunker down.
You called that a storm? We were in MK all morning in the midst of it. Poncho up and enjoy the smaller crowds.

Well, at least that's what you do if you aren't staying there for a week and a half like some people... :rolleyes1

DD18's guinea pig had to be put down all of a sudden last night.
Three days ago she was fine, two days ago she wasn't eating much, yesterday she was in trouble.
The vet said it happens quickly with these little guys sometimes.
Sorry to hear.

Oh, man. That's heartbreaking right there.

Huh. You'd think the opposite.
Sounds like the planners did too.

Neither did I but I did have one of these...

You did?
Well... I guess I should compliment you on your nails CJ.

Very nice.

Hawaii, fond memories. Best dive I ever did was the Manta dive at Kona. Have a blast. Any specific plans laid out?

No. Nothing yet.
And it might stay that way.

Our dollar is taking a pounding right now so I've already nixed stuff we were originally going to do (but cost a lot.)

Never beat Florida while he was at UT. 0-4. Omaha that Peyton.

I picture you gleefully rubbing your hands together.

Which, considering your nails, is kind of disturbing.

Have you found some for yourself yet?

Sort of.
They didn't have my size.

One of the great disappointments of my life.

Sorry to hear.

Thanks Andy.

Ryan,

Did the marathon kick your behind like it did the Pirate Princess? Twenty minutes slower than her goal. She said a lot of people were on the side of the course in various states of distress.

It wasn't too bad for me, but I was about an hour off my typical race pace. There were more people being worked on by medics than I have ever seen though. It was definitely not the day to push it hard.

What's worse than a swim meet? 3 days of swim meet. :sad1: And, today is dds 14th birthday, so after the meet, she gets Chick Fil A for dinner (her choice).

I haven't been able to get in yet with a split stay, but a couple nights may work. How was the run at the DDCC?
I spent a lot f my life at swim meets. 3 days of waiting for less than 15 minutes in the pool most likely.

The run was good. We've wound up doing a fair amount of split stays. It might make things a little more stressful on the move day, but we like to do that to orient our location to conserve points and reduce travel time. For example stay at blt of 2 or 3 nights and get our MK time in there then switch to BWV or BCV for a couple days for Epcot and studios time.

Hey it's Monday - yippee!
Anyone else tired of hearing Manning yelling OMAHA! twenty times before the ball is snapped? First time in my life I am rooting for Pittsburg.
Have been tired of that Richie Cunnigham, Oppee Taylor can't win the big one from day 1.

Wow, that's tough to read about the mutt, that's gotta be tough to watch. The role of being Dad never ends even when supporting a pet.

Old Fashions - you betcha! Will have to have one with you one of these days.

The 2nd annual Bikes up Guns down is going on in S. Florida. A couple of hundred of idiots on ATVs and bikes running in a pack through Dade and Broward. Really dangerous. Doing wheelies on the interstate, driving on the wrong side of the road (including the interstate), causing traffic problems and generally wrecking havoc. Cops aren't doing anything other than observing and taking photos because a high speed pursuit would make things even more dangerous.

Wow. what the heck are they thinking? Is there a point to all that?
(I mean other than the obvious Darwin award candidate application.)

Tueday finds me sitting in orthodontist office with oldest dd. This might be worse than the swim meet, especially considering the cost. But, it gives me the opportunity to take a sick day from work and stay home.

They didn't have my size.
.

Don't post pictures of anything that hints at your size. :lmao:

I've adjusted to the swim meets as much as possible. I think she had 12+ events over the three day weekend, but yeah, not much time in the water.

As for split stays, we've tried a few but I still just don't like them. Packing/ unpacking, driving, parking. It's first world problems, and it is the only way we'll get to try them.

We had the little Sturgis bike rally about 90 min west of me. Lots of bikers and topless women gather in a town with one stop light. Well, area outside the town. I think it was the only source of income for the town, but it came with a lot of problems.
