DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Tueday finds me sitting in orthodontist office with oldest dd. This might be worse than the swim meet, especially considering the cost. But, it gives me the opportunity to take a sick day from work and stay home.

Don't post pictures of anything that hints at your size. :lmao:

I've adjusted to the swim meets as much as possible. I think she had 12+ events over the three day weekend, but yeah, not much time in the water.

As for split stays, we've tried a few but I still just don't like them. Packing/ unpacking, driving, parking. It's first world problems, and it is the only way we'll get to try them.

We had the little Sturgis bike rally about 90 min west of me. Lots of bikers and topless women gather in a town with one stop light. Well, area outside the town. I think it was the only source of income for the town, but it came with a lot of problems.

Hope the orthodontist isn't too painful for either of you.

Were the topless women driving the bikes?

The kid's 22nd birthday is today. Where did the time go?

Look at it this way, it could be you in the chair. Sorry for your daughter and your wallet but you get the rest of the day off.

Wow. what the heck are they thinking? Is there a point to all that?
(I mean other than the obvious Darwin award candidate application.)

It was supposed to be a anti gun violence rally that turned into some idiots driving their bikes all over the place. When one of the idiots was asked by a reporter why they are doing this, he answered, "Because it's fun." Local news story here...

Seems January has arrived this week, another day of -25C with the wind chill. Moving south is looking better and better everyday!

Son of a birch that is cold, that must be a shock coming back from the cruise. Thanks for the link on the TR.

So many people want to support a cause these days.

So few of them actually know what they're supporting.

Just waiting for you to share the news story where 2 people get shot at this anti-gun violence rally.

Happy Sunday. What an excellent game last night between the Packers and Cardinals. I forced myself to stay up and watch the ending, and am glad I did.

Me too. I was having such a hard time staying awake, but I'm glad I did. That game was nuts.

My excuse is I'm on day 11 of 21 work days in a row.

Holy cow. That's just brutal. It lends credence to the occasional reports that folks in your line of work are overworked and don't get enough rest.

I'm at work, but DW said she woke up pretty upset this morning.
(Her pet. Lived in her room. So was pretty quiet in there, I'm betting.)

Sorry to hear that. I had a different reaction when our guinea pigs passed away, but I didn't have much attachment to them.

Hawaii, fond memories.

What he said.

I'm back. Trying to catch up around here. Got home around 2:30 am Sunday. And now I'm back at work.

Welcome home! That goes by way too quickly, doesn't it?

You did?
Well... I guess I should compliment you on your nails CJ.

Very nice.

For those of you interested I started a trip report for our recent trip/cruise. It wasn't a Disney cruise but there is no such thing as a bad cruise. Here is the link if you are interested.

Cool, I'll check it out!

Oh, don't worry. The important folk are well rested...

Thanks.
And... I hear ya.

Top O the Mornin Dads! In the teens here today and chance of snow / ice tomorrow. Snow / ice does not work around here due to lack of equipment to treat the roads combined with the hilly terrain. 1" of snow on top of a sheet of ice and we wont be able to up or down our driveway and street. Blackhawks are in town tonight so heading to that game tonight and looking forward to being "snowed in" tomorrow hopefully.

Luckily it wasn't that cold when we got back but we have been slowly returning to the January we all know and hate.

I saw them sitting on bikes, sitting on other guys shoulders, etc. These were actual bikers, and I wasn't lingering to watch them kick my ***. No telling what the bikers would have done. :lmao:

While it could happen anywhere, it is more likely to happen in Florida.

Pictures or.... :rolleyes2

It's been over a decade since I visited, and really don't know if they even have them anymore (rally, not pictures). My grandfather owned a small farm in little Sturgis, and somehow the farm truck had to drive and stall at the biker rally. He's been dead a decade now, so I'm not sure when the last time I was there. My phone sure isn't around, and I didn't upload any to a computer that DW could access.

The 2nd annual Bikes up Guns down is going on in S. Florida. A couple of hundred of idiots on ATVs and bikes running in a pack through Dade and Broward. Really dangerous. Doing wheelies on the interstate, driving on the wrong side of the road (including the interstate), causing traffic problems and generally wrecking havoc. Cops aren't doing anything other than observing and taking photos because a high speed pursuit would make things even more dangerous.

that sounds like lot's of trips to the emergency room just waiting to happen.

Passed your birthday wishes on to the Pirate Princess. She appreciates it.

Now will someone drive to Miami and put me out of my misery? This flu is kicking my butt. I want to curl up in a ball and die.

A good day for me. I spent the morning delaying driving west waiting for the meetings to get cancelled and by the time lunch time rolled around they had been so I spent the afternoon driving back east (after stopping for a frozen custard in the big city for my troubles). Good (?) news is now I get to sit in on two other meetings on Friday that I had hoped to miss. Still hoping the beekeeping meeting is on for Saturday but it is further in the mountains than I am so it isn't looking good.

Hope you get to feeling better and a

Happy Birthday Pirate Princess Pirate Crash!!!

Happy Wednesday. 3 inches of snow last night closes KY today. I shoveled the driveway off this AM, and at least it isn't wet. I'm worried that since the temps won't get over freezing, it won't melt and get packed down by all the cars driving on it.

So, plan C is to bury you in the backyard and live in your house? I thought the camper option was better, but I'm on my way. Don't die until I get there and then ..... :lmao:

Any snow your way? Those meetings might be snowed out. UL closed today, which is probably the most rare occurrence of all the state universities.

Might make it to 70 today which beats January 19, 1977 when it snowed in Miami. So I guess hell freezes over sometimes.

Not to temp fate but I think I might have turned the corner. I was able to get off the couch last night and make some navy bean soup. Looking forward to lunch today.

And if you want to bury me in the back yard, bring a jack hammer because just below the topsoil is solid coral remnants. Took me days to punch 40 or so holes to put in the hedge. And I was 20 years younger.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.

You should have used a shovel for those holes, much easier than punching.

I was really starting to miss you guys, so I said to heck to with work and decided to drop by. Going to try to make an effort to get over here much more often. But then again, this is about the time of year that most people forget about their New Year's resolutions anyway.

First front has moved through. We were on a 1 hour delay but when you live within walking distance it doesn't matter. Next front is coming in Thursday evening so you may be correct about the other meetings.

Glad to hear you are feeling better.
