DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
What's worse than a swim meet? 3 days of swim meet. :sad1: And, today is dds 14th birthday, so after the meet, she gets Chick Fil A for dinner (her choice).

Hey guys. Been a crazy busy week, but at least it's almost over. I didn't win the Powerball, either. Do you really have to buy a ticket in order to win?

Was there a lottery ticket for a new Eagles Coach? Did you buy one of those? :lmao:

Morning.
So I get home from work around 11:30pm or so last night. I read the mail, relax for a bit and fall asleep about 12:30am. I don't have to leave for work until 2pm today. But I dutifully get up at 7am to drive DD to school. It's tough, but I just manage to pry my eyes open. At 7:25 I check on her. Still sleeping. She says she won't make it and will be late.

It's not the first time.

Tell me again why I'm doing this???

Like Mike said, DAD.

Yeah I think when we stayed at Poly it was at the top of the points chart for a studio. I want to say it was about 50% more than other studios and only about 20% less than some of the other one bedrooms. Right now I think we may book it for a night or two at the end of a split stay but it's hard to justify the points for an entire week in a studio there.

I haven't been able to get in yet with a split stay, but a couple nights may work. How was the run at the DDCC?

Afternoon gents. Not one of the better weeks due to work and a dentist trip for a temporary crown so if ever TGIF............Did get some details of Dis trips booked, Hawks on a big win streak, CJ having good time at DaWorld and family is well so the important stuff is good :-)

Glad ya had a good week and the foot pain is bearable.

DAD

Cheers, enjoy the weekend

This was a tough one - enjoy the weekend

Again, DAD

Dental problems are the worse. Hope you recover quickly.

It looks like there are still some old and familiar faces over here!

YUUUP!!! We are all still here.

Couple of errands this morning and of course it poured. By 12:30 the clouds went away and it is bright and sunny. Shorts weather! Hopped on the monorail in search of a lunch place. Tried the Grand Flo Cafe but it was stupid expensive. Ended up with a burger at Contempt Cafe. Not bad, not good. May head to Trader Sam's when it opens at 4:00.
.

We ate at the GF Cafe and found the food quite good. They had a wedding reception walk in and everyone applauded. The guys looked hot in the tuxes, and I figures they just rolled in from the wedding pavilion. Are you saving up for a Disney wedding for Andrianna?

Ryan,

Did the marathon kick your behind like it did the Pirate Princess? Twenty minutes slower than her goal. She said a lot of people were on the side of the course in various states of distress.

I heard a lot of people had problems with running the marathon this year.

Morning gents.
Looks like I'm following an unfortunate trend.
DD18's guinea pig had to be put down all of a sudden last night.
Three days ago she was fine, two days ago she wasn't eating much, yesterday she was in trouble.
The vet said it happens quickly with these little guys sometimes.

Anyone know why? Was it really humid or something?
(Too many Kitchen Sinks, pre-race?)

Last day here but what a beautiful day it is. 70 degrees and not a cloud in the sky. Had breakfast in the room and now deciding what to do. Annual passes are expired and I spent two days at Disney Springs. Did the monorail loop yesterday. May head over to ESPN to watch some of the game later this afternoon.

Oh goodie. Best of luck.

Sorry to hear. Hope your DD is doing OK. My kid put up an Instagram picture of her and the dog the day the dog was put down. Seems to be accepting it now.

Humid, Humid, Humid. It was deceptively bad because it was cool in the morning. The Princess said people littered the course near the finish. Other people I talked talked too said it was the worst marathon they ran. Thirty minutes off their pace was the norm. I'm glad she made it but she was spent.

She's upset of course, but she'll be okay.
This is the 4th small critter she's lost in the past half dozen years or so.

My kid put up an Instagram picture of her and the dog the day the dog was put down.

Was that the photo you posted here a little earlier?

Seems to be accepting it now.

That's good.
Losing a dog is especially tough.
Heck. It took me quite a while to get over our last pooch.

I wonder if they'll do something about that in the future.
More water stations or something? Dunno.

Condolences to all you folks that had critters put down.

Saturday and in the office getting ready for a long, cold travel week from Tuesday-Saturday. :drive: I should have close to 1000 miles before it is over and never leave KY. This week is the highlight of my year with a beekeeping meeting. Beekeepers are good people, unlike administrators and government officials.

And the possibility of being swarmed by bees and stung multiple times is still less painful than meeting with "administrators and government officials".

Sorry to hear that, hope everyone is OK.

Picked up our kittens remains yesterday. Not sure why the crematorium puts the poems in the package they do but they are certainly sad poems.

I hear there is quite the buzz around that meeting.

It is a cold Saturday evening. I played tennis again this morning, dd finished her swim meet strong enough, other than her IM as she does not like the breast stroke. Then, she had confirmation retreat, party at a friend's house, and then swim again in the morning.

What... no party with a bunch of screaming teens?
Yep.

Not this year. I got her her own Amazon tablet and am not going to tie it to my account. I also gave her a $25 gift card. That was the highlight this year.

It's painful to watch our children go thru it, no matter what the age or pet.

Bees are better people than administrators and government officials. Have a safe driving week.

Morning Guys.

Hope you are all having a good weekend. Had another enjoyable one watching DS play basketball as they hosted a 6 team tournament that became a 4 team tournament because of the weather. They finished 2nd with their only loss coming to a varsity team and a nice win against their cross-town rivals.

Time to edit some more of our cruise pictures and get them uploaded. Have a good one.

Morning folks.
Still plenty of days to go before I get a break in.
Being short staffed is good for the wallet, but man... I'm spending a bucket load of time at work!

Congrats to your DS.

Happy Sunday. What an excellent game last night between the Packers and Cardinals. I forced myself to stay up and watch the ending, and am glad I did. Last day of swim meet for dd. She came home last night and immediately went to bed. She is back at the pool this AM for four more events. We will have Mass, Religious Ed, and Youth Group today. I think everyone will be happy tomorrow to have a day off to relax from this weekend.

That is one busy day. Is tomorrow President's Day for you guys?

Totally missed both games. Was at work all day then got home and after going out to get some Pizza for DW and DD, totally forgot about it then crashed early.
My excuse is I'm on day 11 of 21 work days in a row. (Although it looks like I could get the 21st off, so that's a plus)

Not doing much of anything this weekend as I am just wore out from work and no signs of it getting to normal crazy for a couple more weeks. Hope all are having a good weekend

Does sound like a good time / last day. Safe return home trip

Sounds brutal especially for someone like PP coming from the northeast to FLA humidity.

Congrats to the kids on the hoops success and looking forward to some pics
