DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
2022243_orig.jpg

One of the best movies of all time.

'Morning all...
May this Friday be good to you.

I'll be sure to put that all in one box. It will still be good when it gets there. Just insert into a blender then refreeze and you will be good to go. Dole whip floats! Now with bacon and cake!!!
Don't forget the Rum...
or is it gone again?
Why is the rum always gone?

Thanks guys. Only screamed twice today, so definitely improving.
I thought I heard something like a muffled scream a couple times yesterday.
It sounded a bit like the holler from the long shot in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Marion bashed Jones on the chin with that mirror frame while they were aboard the tramp steamer. That must have been you.
Try not to do that any more, it wakes me from my nap.

Been one of those nutz, outta whack, over the top days at work, too many of these lately. Sorry I was unable to make my morning hello.
It's all good. Choosing work over Dis Time again, huh...
I too have a bad habit of doing that from time to time.
May need a 12-step program to break me of it.

Don't think I'm suppose to talk about it but I would day I wasn't following the rules.
Pointed out in writing something that was blindingly obvious, did ya'?
That will get the ire up amongst some of the more imperious wielders of power.
Welcome back from the wilderness.

Not much. One of our members somehow got pregnant.
I'm sure you can figure out who.
Pregnant? I thought we all knew how to avoid that?

One would have thought...
:lmao:

Good morning, men and HAPPY FRIDAY!
It's been a long but productive week. The excitement level is ramping up around the Williams household since we are now 11 days out from our trip.
This is the first time in a while that it'll be just my family. The past several years we've had friends, in some cases, multiple sets at WDW at the same time. I'm kind of looking forward to this. My girls are pretty good with each other...def fight over the dumb stuff...but when we are at the World, they are like BFFs.

We have a few new restaurants that we haven't done in the past, so we'll be able to check a few more items off of our list. We are alos planning to get in some mini-golf at Fantasia gardens and at some point we will have to appease my youngest with a ride on the Surrey bikes. We promised her we'd do them but ran out of time when we were staying at BWV and it went off of the radar last year b\c the girls had all of their friends around. I anticipate some pains and aches after this event takes place.
Sounds like a good time will be had.
As for the aches and pains...
Put the girls in the front and they'll never know whether or not you're actually pedaling.
Problem solved.

.

Thanks for the warm welcome all. Woohoo #803

I got about 3 pages in and then received all the don't worry about it advice. I did enjoy all the qualifications and the notice of nemesis' cracked me up to.

Well see! That means you get a week off about once every 28 years.
Sounds about right for the last company I worked for.

Good Day, DisDads!
It's been a while since i've posted. I have a DisDad number (418), and i'm still here.

I hope everyone is doing well. I don't really have time to go back & read the whole thread, but, I'm sure there isn't a lot different than usual.

Also, Star Wars.

Welcome back. No point in going back. Same stuff different day.

Also, BACON.

Morning DisDads

Just found my way here via cj9200 and the introductions thread.

Best thread name ever.

Now I've got a lot to read up on.

Cheers

Welcome aboard. You followed CJ so we have to question your judgement, he keeps giving us fake credit card numbers so we can join him...and he wont let Norm park his RV out front.
I will give you a synopsis of everything on the board so far to save you reading.
Bacon, beer, someone got hurt, bacon, someone is having a kid, Disney trip, beer, football, Disney trip, bacon, other sports, Disney trip, bacon beer, someone got hurt, beer, football, bacon, new guy, bacon, loss in the family, beer, cruise.

i think that just about covers it.
Oh more bacon.

Don't think I'm suppose to talk about it but I would day I wasn't following the rules.

So what did I miss?
The first rule is you don't talk about it; and the second rule is you don't talk about it.

Top O the Morning Dads and a happy Friday to all! Let's get through this day and close out another week which brings us all closer to our next Disney trip.

Happy pre-weekend,

Two and half hours in the dentist's chair yesterday. Made my day. Not much pain but keeping your mouth open and sitting in the chair for that long gets tiresome. Since I missed throwback Thursday, I thought I would post something today (I don't think I posted these before)...

Not so far a throwback but this is her and her Gumba from Australia with some of the Island kids

A Feather Starfish

Marlin and Nemo's cousins

Another big weekend for Florida as they take on Tenn. I remember the heydays of this series and this used to be a make or break game for both teams. It is this year but not for the same reasons. This year it is to see who will challenge Georgia plus a ten game winning streak for UF is on the line. Hoping for a good game and a win. Football football factoid: Peyton Manning went 0-4 against Florida while his little brother won one game.

Thanks. Hey, it's still Florida. One more decade is the plan. I sure wish it would be sooner.

The trailer would have floated away a few times during the last 2 weeks. But you are right, it still is Florida.

Thanks guys. Only screamed twice today, so definitely improving.

May you only scream once today.

I had a time out.

Put you in the timeout corner did they. Stay here, it is safer.

Time to put the planning and spreadsheets into action. So far, I have avoided the Surrey bikes. She did take them once when some friends met us there one year. Needless to say, have a blast.

Welcome back, Darcy! A month in solitary, huh? Was it the easiest time you ever did?

Well played. Great scene from a great movie. Still ticked that Forrest Gump beat it out for best picture that year.

Have a great weekend everyone.

It's a good thing I like bacon.

Happy Friday. Looking forward to tennis tournament. If I win, it is today through Sunday. I probably will never be 100% again, but my quad still hurts and I doubt it will improve by this evening. I'll keep you posted. I don't think there is a fantasy program you can join to follow this one this year.

Not much. One of our members somehow got pregnant.

One of the DisDads members got pregnant? That should make an interesting discussion. :lmao:

I guess we are 15 days out. I have so checked out.

Another Shawshank reference. Are you building a boat somewhere?

Thanks for the warm welcome all. Woohoo #803

Yes, the first page is the funny stuff. After that, it is our usual crap. If you want, there are 20 other closed threads full of our usual conversations as well.

Thanks for some more good pictures. Maybe I can use Mark's boat that he is building to keep safe in the rain if the camper floats away.

Great pics keep them coming.
i bet that over the water suite behind her didn't cost $10,000 a week to stay in. LOL

It's a good thing I like bacon.
Yes, yes it is.
Also doesn't hurt to like Disney but if you made it this far I guess you are good on that front.

I thought I heard something like a muffled scream a couple times yesterday.

Yep. That was me.

It sounded a bit like the holler from the long shot in Raiders of the Lost Ark when Marion bashed Jones on the chin with that mirror frame while they were aboard the tramp steamer. That must have been you.

 Close... very close.
Mine was more hight pitched and girly, unfortunately.

Try not to do that any more, it wakes me from my nap.

I'll try to keep it down to a muffled whimper.

May you only scream once today.

So far... zero screams.
It's either getting better, or I'm getting more careful.

Great scene from a great movie. Still ticked that Forrest Gump beat it out for best picture that year.

Both are excellent movies.
But given a choice... I'd watch Shawshank over Gump... and I love Gump.

Agreed
Shawshank may be the greatest movie ever. Of course Morgan Freeman both narrated it and starred in it; not sure that is legal anymore.

Here's a scenario.
Morgan Freeman narrating: "The Sun's gravitational pull on the Earth is so strong that we are doomed to fall into it in the very near future."

Panic ensues.

Morgan Freeman, still narrating: "But of course I'm kidding."

Put the girls in the front and they'll never know whether or not you're actually pedaling.
Problem solved.
Best advice that I've seen for a while. I'll let you know how it works out.

I guess we are 15 days out. I have so checked out.
Amen. We are just over a week out at this point...I barely count the weekends before leaving. It's a struggle to keep things moving forward at work. This is the point that I normally delegate like crazy but my competent folks were all taking vacation before I leave.

Won first match. Play tomorrow at 9:00 AM, assuming I can walk.
Hope it went well! Don't get hurt before the trip.

The weekend is here. Soccer went well. My youngest had about 5 goals but more importantly dribbled very well, getting around defenders and passing the ball. She plays so hard which is enough for me. The positive results are a bonus. Truly enjoyable to watch her play.

Today is the day that I make our family's tie dye shirts for our trip. I'm hoping I'm done early enough to get some yard work done and then have a camp fire this evening. Beer and s'mores make me happy. In that order.

Good start this morning and about to pour an adult beverage. Changed the batteries on the remote so I am ready to go.

I guess we are 15 days out. I have so checked out.

Nice to have a short countdown, mine still has a lot of numbers on it.

Thanks for some more good pictures. Maybe I can use Mark's boat that he is building to keep safe in the rain if the camper floats away.

Throw a couple of scuba tanks on the boat and I will lend you a regulator. All emergencies handled.

Great pics keep them coming.

Not exactly a 5 star resort...

This is the size of the island where the village is located. Not much bigger than Discovery Island.

And the facilities not quite as nice as a 1BR DVC bathroom. The buckets on the left are the flushing mechanism since there is no running water. Note they use salt water to flush because fresh water is shipped in and guarded like gold.

So far... zero screams.
It's either getting better, or I'm getting more careful.

Whatever it is, keep it up.

The voice of God.

Well, how did it go? Did your opponent leave the court sobbing uncontrollably?

Congrats to your daughter. Great effort = proud dad. Enjoy the s'mores, I guess (not a fan). I'll have a beer though.

Off to enjoy watching the games.
