DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
Thanks for the prayers and thanks Jim for her bday wishes. Unfortunately this won't be much of a birthday we just got a call from the hospital and will be heading back for the end game this morning. Pray for her strength and us driving through the storm to get there. Things apparently went south overnight. Thanks for the support and all guys. You are the best group and proud to call you friends.

Prayers being sent. Hang in there, Brent.

Light snow in New Jersey and SH canceled classes after 1:00 pm. and all day tomorrow. The kid is going out to get some provisions, things like kale chips and crap like that.

No donuts? You can't survive a storm on kale chips.

DS had an interesting game on Saturday. Playoff semifinals, and the game was neck and neck all the way through. Since it's 2nd 3-on-3, the rules are a bit modified. The biggest one is the substitution rules. Referee stops the clock every 3 minutes to sub players, making sure everyone gets roughly equal playing time. The other coach was clearly playing to win, no matter what. He kept in his 3 best players for the last 6 minutes of the game and the 2 minute overtime. And I'm sure that he would have kept them in again for the second overtime if we hadn't hit the game winner with 2 seconds left. He was working the poor high school kid that was reffing all game long - getting close calls overturned, etc. Just an overall bad display of sportsmanship by someone that is supposed to be setting a good example.

Was he related to anyone running the clock in the 1972 Olympic basketball tournament?

Did not spend yesterday clearing snow and I will not be worrying about 1-2 feet more snow tomorrow. But I am also not preparing for a trip.

Winner?

Paul.

Stay safe up there guys.

Thanks. After this storm I think I will have earned a week down in WDW... :)

Hey Paul. Hopefully the storm doesn't effect your flights. They are already starting to cancel flights. Be safe and hoping the airport is open and you get out to sunny FL on time. Sounds like the planes with be standing room only for a while after the storm.

Please bring back some of that sunshine with you when you return.

Enjoy the trip - hope this weather does not cause any headaches for you

Thanks guys. Flight is first thing in the am on Thurs. So we're hopeful that they get everything back to normal by then. If not, we'll just figure something else out. I figure worst case scenario I'll rent a car and start driving down Weds night, get there sometime Thursday. Wife isn't thrilled with that idea, but it's an option. :rotfl:

Stay safe up there Jim & Paul... Guess it is a wait and see game to how much we are going to get.... It started snowing lightly here about 8:30am. Juliana has an early dismissal. Melody has to work till 10:30 tonight. They are shutting the highways down at 9:00pm so hopefully no one will be on the roads then. Last estimate I heard was 22''-32'' with possible higher amounts.

We had 36'' here in 2013 but that was after a few storms and we already had 18'' on the ground. This time we only have about 5'' on the ground so there will be a place to move the fresh snow to. I have my beer and a full fridge of food so I say Let It Snow, Let it Snow!

You too Tim. Hope Melody gets home without any issue.

Or become a Blackhawks or Bruins fan?

:thumbsup2:lmao::lmao:

I'd start driving now. Avoid the snow all together.:thumbsup2

Or, for those Dads that can't get to DDC early in the year we think about doing a DDC4.5 or DDC5 during F&W?
?

I think we had asked that a few times ago, but the consensus was to keep it in January on the running event as several already routinely attended. With F&W and Summer, there were too multiple weeks open for schedule.

I have my beer and a full fridge of food so I say Let It Snow, Let it Snow!

That's good thinking. :lmao:

There is a point that I have where cheap is too cheap. Hey all you can eat buffet for a nickel. I'll pass.
.

From the looks of me, I've not passed by many buffets.

Only tragedy is we went to a Golden Corral. Why, why, why??

The Golden Trough? Been there and ate that. Again, too many times.

Praying for peace Brent!

Guys in the path of the snow storm, stay safe and ...

...Igloo Contest!

Thanks again everyone. We made it through the edge of the storm and was clear sailing for the last two hours.

Jo and her mom are working on the arrangements and I'm on kid duty back at the house.

Oh and to make sure the day is complete The car acted up just as we got here. Is it 2016 yet?

...Igloo Contest!

We built one with the kids after the last storm. They destroyed it before I could get a good picture. I'll try to get a pic of the next one. May be a little harder to build in blizzard conditions.

Oh and to make sure the day is complete The car acted up just as we got here. Is it 2016 yet?

Find the guy named Murphy and let him know he needs to move out. :faint:

Unfortunately no, it's still 2015.

Funny it's not Groundhog Day yet?

It seems like... I need to do a better job of keeping up.

question for the rules-makers...

if i don't review the posts and get "all of the way" caught up, and really only check in about once every 3 months or so, can i still be a DisDad?

(Has that been addressed, and I've missed it?)

Here's hoping everyone gets at least one WDW trip in 2015! (or 16... or again in their lifetime!)

Snowfall Ownage. Stay safe.

I'm a rule breaker - not a maker - and don't know if this has been addressed. I think once a DisDad, always a DisDad. :thumbsup2

You survived without an extraction team. Just wait until that same group of friends is out for the night and roll in late :scared1:
?

I just hope mine don't put me thru the same grief I put my parents thru. :scared1:  :scared1:

Again, stay safe and positive thoughts being sent to those of you dealing with this storm.

Will be thinking of you and your family. Prayers and for your sake, I agree with Jim, tell Murphy to back the heck off

Morning guys! About 2 feet of snow and counting! My town is in this small little band that's got the most snowfall of anyone in the storm. Yay us! :headache:

Still love your kids? Still love Disney?
I do believe you qualify.

I just hope mine don't put me thru the same grief I put my parents thru. :scared1:  :scared1:

I think that's pretty much inevitable.
For that matter I was always told that I'd be getting it back three fold.

But you do get to laugh at your kids when their time comes.

Morning boys

:wave2:

Stay warm. I don't know if it will make you feel any better, but we ended up with less than an inch from this storm. My kids were visibly angry about having to go to school today.

Morning Guys.

I managed to get my flight out this morning, the last one before the storm blew in and shut, what seems to be, the province down. I hope DW and DS have a great storm day and the winds don't knock out the power.

Morning guys

Hope all you affected by the storm got through ok. We may or may not get get some Thursday, but I usually find forecasts to be overblown.
