DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
That's brutal. Hopefully if they push things back through April that will help your case. It's been interesting to watch and see which owners/ companies are doing the right thing and which ones are nickel-and-diming their customers and staff through this mess.
Honestly mate, the more I'm thinking about it the more it winds me up. They are giving back the borrowed points why? Because if they cancelled the borrowed points those people couldn't come. So they wouldn't be spending on property. They are dressing it up as altruism. Banking points is a final transaction, I get that. But so is borrowing points. So it's pretty cynical to treat 2 customers, who have both abided by the rules, differently, as one id coming anyway (as they have points in 21) and one who is potentially not.

You should be angry. These are decisions being made solely based on money, not with any customer service in mind whatsoever.

He donated it all.
He did!?!? Huge loss. Not concerned at all.
Got kicked in the nutz from Disney today, as I was using 85 banked points for the trip to Cali, and now they will only put them back into 20, and not allow me to bank again, into 21
:sad2:
I'm holding on to the reservation until the last minute now until they cancel the planned re-open on Apr 1, maybe that will help if they are closed, as its then them who I saying I can't come. I doubt it, but I'm am going to push pretty hard, whilst obviously being at my polite best.
Suspect it might be closed for longer. Hang in there.
So, the person who works there is a "Fish Market Worker"? I can't help but think our referral term has more of a poetic ring to it.
Nah. Just...
"So what do you do?"
"I work at ____ Fish Market."
"Cool. I shop there for scallops sometimes."...
So I just left my local supermarket and honestly it was shocking. No toilet paper left at all. 😫😫Reluctantly, I headed to the customer service desk to ask if they had anymore. The lady said no and gave me a really disgusting look 😳 Walking back to the toilet with my pants around my ankles is a walk I never want to do again.
:lmao:

It seems I'm in the minority in another thread...

I should acknowledge that I am not in DVC and have no idea what the terms are. But it sounds like a raw deal.

I think it will be closed longer, too. Seems like CDC is saying 8 weeks for everything public now.

Monday is over. Governor ordered restaurants closed, only open to drive thru. I got an email I have to fill out a form so that the administration working from home may be consider if I can work from home. Really can't make up this bureaucracy carp. But, I load managed and went to play tennis with dd.

Went to get my driver's license renewed this weekend. Knowing I knew I was going to need it, I ordered a new certified Birth Certificate. It came in Friday when I was at work, so Saturday, knowing the RMV was closed, I headed to the AAA office to get my license renewed. Walked in with all the information needed and waited to be called. When I was called, I walked up and handed the girl behind the counter everything and she started to look through it. She looks at my birth certificate and, well, here's the exchange:

AAA girl: "Excuse me a minute sir." (walks away and heads over to her supervisor)
Me: "Sure."
AAA: (after conversing with her supervisor) "I'm sorry sir, but we can't accept his birth certificate."
Me: "Why not?
AAA: "This birth certificate is from a foreign country."
Me: "A foreign country? Where do you think I was born?"
AAA: "Mexico, sir, it says right up at the top"
Me: "If you read the whole thing, you'll notice it says, NEW Mexico. I was born in NEW Mexico! We became a state in 1912." (shakes my head in disgust at the lack of education)
AAA: "Oh, I'm sorry, sir."
Me: "Mhmm"

It's NAFTA here on these boards with Canadians, Americans, and now a Mexican. We even have a Briton.

I better go check then.

Anybody turn into a zombie yet? Nothing going on here, but the day is young.

The zombie turned me into a newt. I got better though.

Got kicked in the nutz from Disney today, as I was using 85 banked points for the trip to Cali, and now they will only put them back into 20, and not allow me to bank again, into 21, even though I can't get there, apparently to protect inventory next year. That's funny they seem to be fine with points being borrowed (which put a strain on inventory this year) as they are being put back into 2021.

So I've got to either use or rent. I'm holding on to the reservation until the last minute now until they cancel the planned re-open on Apr 1, maybe that will help if they are closed, as its then them who I saying I can't come. I doubt it, but I'm am going to push pretty hard, whilst obviously being at my polite best.

It's a bit poor seeing as every other company I have used have proactively emailed and said, have a refund, no strings, including BA, which was a bit of a shocker.

If all else fails I might have to see if I can convince the missus to let me turn up to DDC to use up the points. Silver linings and all that.

Uuuurrrrrrgggggghhhhhhhhhh........

We have a current home delivery slots of +3 weeks, on pretty much every major supermarkets website.

So, the person who works there is a "Fish Market Worker"? I can't help but think our referral term has more of a poetic ring to it.

Good.

Maybe call back and talk with a supervisor? When they had a hurricane at Vero Beach, a State of Emergency was declared by the Governor and Disney posted all could cancel as it was within 30 days without penalty of holding points. Seems terribly unfair as the cancellation wasn't your choice. If you're going to lose them, yeah, I'd try to rent them as well. Throw $10 a point and at least get something back.

And I think that is terribly irresponsible. How can they predict 8 weeks out from now. Is it possible this school/ business closure could have the desired effect in 4 weeks and it may. It be necessary? But, have MD gives one the ability to time travel.

How serious was that comment? Are you worried that might be the case?

Serious. The wife is completely losing it. She's convinced she'll die because I'll bring home something from work. But she's 47, has great lung capacity, no heart issues, and her only issue is lower back pain. So yeah, it's exceptionally unlikely anything will happen to her. That fear and panic is making her lash out.

I work for the State of California and my agency head is going kicking and screaming into allowing work-from-home for everyone. Right now it's limited to people who are high risk for coronavirus and people who are having child care issues because of the schools closing. So for the rest of us, we still have to report to the office.

We're the only ones in downtown Sacramento right now. Every other state agency is working from home. I can do 100% of my job from a laptop and a phone. But they are going to make us be the last group of people to get work from home privileges.

Feeling angry and confused. Job #1 has the bureaucracy over the form. Now, Bishop has suspended Mass. I can't think of a time that happened before. The earliest Christians risked death to celebrate our faith on Sundays. But, Parish staff are expected to report to work. But, all programs are cancelled. So, show up to the office x hours 5 days a week, but don't go to worship for 1 hour 1 day a week.

Is this a pandemic or a comedy routine?

My wife is there now. She went shopping yesterday and said the store was out of most stuff. So, I went today. The freezer is full and we have so much food.

I'm at a State University, contracted by the State for training State employees, so they get college credit with their training. All classes are cancelled, so yes, I can do work with laptop and phone, once I go back to the office to fill it out.

Cancelling church services is a great idea Norm. If you don't think so, just look at Northern Italy. Much of the spread there was due to people still attending church. Not sure why they would still ask staff to go to work. As for celebrating your faith, you don't really need a church to do that.

Interesting. So they think most people will have it by then?

I think it's mostly out of an abundance of caution and seeing how fast this thing spreads.

Governor ordered restaurants closed, only open to drive thru.

Same here. We're also supposed to stay away from groups of more than 10 people.

I'm sure they're mapping the spread of the virus and using models to predict it based on the spread/growth.

Wow. I'm sorry it's been so rough. And I know that pointing out panic and irrational fear isn't going to help matters, either.

All we can do is worry about the things we can control. As the Good Book says, "Who among you by worrying can add a single hour to his life?"

I'm still reporting to the office as well. They've taken measures to ban meetings and visitors who don't normally work here. I have a feeling eventually we're going to be sent home.

We canceled our church service last Sunday and probably will for the foreseeable future. Our pastor delivered a sermon online and we all tuned in to watch--it was actually a really good message and we had a nice family time, too. I'm thankful we live in an age where we have the tools to do that.

Rainy, dreary day. DW not feeling well because of some new meds, DS is on Spring Break and DD had school closed. Guess I'll walk to the office and shut myself in there.
