DIS Dads DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

Dads of the DIS talk about life, bacon, Disney, bacon, kids, bacon, cars, bacon, family life, and lots of other fun stuff! And beer. And bacon.
It's an introvert's dream come true.

Not sure if I'd want that for a tag!

You do??? Really! Didn't know anyone who'd seen it.

Wait. Did you pick up a virus or the virus?

Just one of the many that we are all exposed to everyday. No fever just extreme fatigue and aches. A couple of days of rest and eating light and mostly back to passes for normal.

Don't forget the birth control...

Not a milestone anniversary so won't be needing that.

Yeah, I'm bummed for dd. She may be #1 in the region this year for tennis. She works year round, so she will be tennis ready - if there is a season.

I remember you saying that. Sorry to hear she is going to have a short season. Can she still compete at the club level?

Well, the tag fairy didn't ask.
I know. That’s where I got my current one from. Need to delete it. Too many people now who don’t know about the tax fairy.
Yes, I saw the Yeti moving in 2000 on our Disneymoon.
Huh. How noticeable was it?

Either way. Get better soon.

You get that on milestones??? Lucky!!!

Morning, gents.

Everyone had their fill of COVID19? Or been filled with COVID19?

Read an interesting article on the TP hoarding. Basically said that not knowing enough (as opposed to say a flood where we know what we need) leads to irrational and neurotic responses.

In the year 2120, archaeologists will examine mass burial sites and say "Not sure what happened here, but... wow! Are their bums ever clean!"

I can't remember but the 25th is in May so I am hoping to find out.

Definitely tired of the constant rehash of the same news. Stayed home from church just in case I was still carrying the virus I had. Here in KY we had a new case of COVID-19, over closer to Norm, and the individual refused to self-isolate so the County Sheriff is now parked outside their house. Whatever happened to common decency and concern for your neighbor? No big plans today other than working on the tax returns.

My house is ground zero for extreme panic versus not panicking. My wife is at the extreme panic mode—constantly buying more food than we need, wants to have tons of cash on hand from when the banking system crashes, and because she’s afraid, she personally attacks me for trying to have as normal of a life as possible. We pretty much fight every day. Every time I try to have a rational conversation, she gets vile and the insults from her start flying because she’s scared and already has major depression and anxiety from preexisting issues.

Plus, she’s from Ireland and her family back in Ireland are panicking, so that just fans the flames of panic within the four walls of our house. The 24/7 media panic is not helping. People buying out the stores makes her panic even more.

I’m not sure my marriage survives coronavirus.

Morning Guys, anyone need any hand sanitizer? I here these is some guy Tennessee with about 17,000 bottles that he has been trying to sell but all the big sites blocked him. You can probably get a good deal from him pretty soon.

I read about that chump. I bet he has a mullet and a Trans Am/Camaro.

Ouch. Prayers that she can find some stability and you can adjust. The following is a quote from C.S. Lewis related to atomic bombs but rather timely with his reference to microbes breaking our bodies...
“This is the first point to be made: and the first action to be taken is to pull ourselves together. If we are all going to be destroyed by an atomic bomb, let that bomb when it comes find us doing sensible and human things—praying, working, teaching, reading, listening to music, bathing the children, playing tennis, chatting to our friends over a pint and a game of darts—not huddled together like frightened sheep and thinking about bombs. They may break our bodies (a microbe can do that) but they need not dominate our minds.” C.S. Lewis, "On Living in an Atomic Age," 1948

Morning chaps, from the set of 28 days later. I live on the outskirts of the Capital. We are incredibly well provided for in terms of stores. We can WALK IN LESS THAN 10 MINS to, at a conservative estimate - 3 Major Supermarkets, 2 Butchers, 1 Fishmonger, probably about 11 Convenience stores, 3 Petrol Stations, 2 Bakers, a myriad of local shops selling cleaning stuff, 2 Major Chemists/Healthcare shops, OK you get the gist.
Queues outside every supermarket at 9AM this morning (taking into account the stores are not allowed to open until 1030). I was incredulous as I was driving past these people at 9. With my 48 packs of bog roll in the back. (Not really, I was taking the boy to tennis. And stealing bog roll from the gym.)

Plus, she’s from Ireland and her family back in Ireland are panicking,
Their measures seem particularly draconian. Shutting the schools is a massive call.
Too many people now who don’t know about the tax fairy.
There's a tax fairy? Knowing my luck, I'd get that one instead of Tink in her short skirt.
I read about that chump. I bet he has a mullet and a Trans Am/Camaro.
Me too. I hope he goes bankrupt.
from when the banking system crashes
You've told her it's not that kind of virus, right?

Yyyyyep.
Trump banned me from travelling to the US. Starting to pick down the vacation, as now I have something in my hand to say I can't travel.
"Not sure what happened here, but... wow! Are their bums ever clean!"
I think it's only decent that you go to your eternal resting place with a sparkly clean bottom. No-one wants to meet their maker having a cheeky scratch.

Waiting for my Turkey to get to temp, the kids are having it with Roasties, Veg and Gravy. Have a fabulous Sunday y'all.

I wonder if anyone else in here can say they live less than a 10 minute walk to a fishmonger?

I wonder how many people outside the old British Empire even know what one is? I think I was introduced to the term reading Mary Poppins as a child.

Resources aren't as plentiful here in Appalachia but we can make do if needed. Plenty of greens to forage on, fish in the river, and animals to eat. Lots of dried beans put away as well.

What do you call people who sell fresh fish? Can you only buy in supermarkets?

If we have a stand alone place here it would be called a fish market. In most cases, besides the supermarket, smaller places combine butcher, produce and fish or they are part of a farmers/city market.
Gotcha. Is it like here where it's almost always better than the supermarket stuff?

Is produce Vegetables? We would have a green grocer for that, but our local one shut down last year. So that we have to get from the supermarket or Costco. That was a shame as the Butcher, fishmonger and green grocer were all in a line of 3 shops, so you could pretty much buy a weeks dinners in 20 mins, and not put your dough in the pockets of the big boys. And have a nice chat about stuff.

Never let it be said we don't deal with the huge issues of the day on this thread....

Back to reality and whole different reality. We had a great trip despite all that's going on but we refused that let that detract from a long planned special trip for us. I hope posts over on the other place made for a couple of minutes to put a smile on your face. Hope all are well - be safe.

Just for the record, I am NOT that guy in Tennessee

Produce = Vegetables

Welcome back Mike. Thanks for sharing, it was great following along.
