DDC XXXIV: The Original Home Of The DISDads!!!

'Morning all...
Nice holiday weekend. Ate too much yesterday. Imagine that.

I had the kids all yell hi when we got to the water tower. The views going on the 77 in the Virginias and Carolinas are just top notch. This year DW plans to push it and that area is our goal for day one.

That explains the disturbance I noticed in the force.

15 minutes away from my house.. we have season passes so hit me up if anyone is swinging through. It is a small park but they have expanded the water park in recent years. They also had at one time the longest wooden coaster which is built into a side of a mountain. It's a great ride.

Haven't been to either of these....

I've never even heard of this. :rotfl2:

Juliana went there on a field trip this year and said it was really cool. :thumbsup2

and thanks for confirming some of my research ;) :lmao:

Top O the Morning Dads! Had a nice holiday weekend except for that Easter egg my Blackhawks laid last night :headache: Sorry about your Wildcats Norm, though considering the coach, did not upset me. I know it's a Monday after a holiday weekend, but, we are all 1 day closer to our next Disney trips either planned or unplanned :)

First full day at the dive resort. AMAZING PLACE!

Looks great, enjoy CJ!

Well…
Aside from the dozens of truly legitimate sites and experiences available in St Augustine, St Simon & Jekyll Islands, Savannah, Charleston, Richmond/Central Virginia, Hartford, Boston and Portland

Atom Bomb Fragments at the Florence Museum of Art, Science, and History
- Pieces of the device the USAF actually dropped on South Carolina (you can go see the crater as well)
111 W. Cheves St, Florence, SC

In North Carolina

Nothing.
***Like SC the purpose of I-95 in NC is to get you from one boarder to the next.
There is much farther afield, but those would require extensive detours

In Virginia

Luray Caverns
970 US Hwy 211 W, Luray, VA

Dinosaur Land
3848 Stonewall Jackson Hwy, White Post, VA

In West Virginia
***I know, this is actually a bit of a detour off of I-81, but it’s also one of the few truly legitimate “sites” in this list…

Cass Scenic Railroad State Park
242 Main St, Cass, WV

In Pennsylvania

AACA Museum and Museum of Bus Transportation
Antique Automobile Club of America
161 Museum Drive, Hershey, PA

Hershey's Chocolate Factory Tour
251 Park Blvd, Hershey, PA

In New York

American Clock and Watch Museum
100 Maple St, Bristol, CT

Museum of Natural and Other Curiosities
800 Main St Hartford, CT

Trash Museum
211 Murphy Rd, Hartford, CT

In Massachusetts

*** Not much, you’re too close too many actual significant and historical sites on this leg of the trip.
Well.. Maybe there’s these:

Salem Witch Museum
19 1/2 Washington Square, Salem, MA

Or the entire town of Salem, MA

In New Hampshire

The Submarine in a Ditch (USS Albacore)
600 Market St, Portsmouth, NH

And last but not least…
In Maine

Wiggly Bridge (World's Smallest Suspension Bridge)
Lilac Lane, York, ME

International Cryptozoology Museum

Page One Has Been Updated!
Just a clarification AND an update...I'm not really a fan of Brussels Sprouts. I'll eat them, but won't go out of my way. The ones that I referenced as "yummy", I had one time and I think they were cooked in lard!

I did make them for Easter. Half pound of bacon, garlic and quarter of an onion all sauteed together in a wok. Those that are particularly fond of them, said that they were terrific. DW's grandma even had seconds.
Here's essentially the recipe.

Thanks Rob, it's been added to my notes. My week off prior to the trip will be spent planning and I'll be lining things up on the map.

Top O the Morning Dads! Had a nice holiday weekend except for that Easter egg my Blackhawks laid last night :headache: Sorry about your Wildcats Norm, though considering the coach, did not upset me. I!

Thanks. It was a great season, but too bad they couldn't finish it. Calapari is a great recruiter, but I don't know how much coaching he is doing.

Hi I'm Back!

You're back? What's wrong?

Good Morning Everyone! Hope all are well. Prayers where needed, congrats where deserved and it's not Monday.

Sorry I have missed the last few weeks. Things have been crazy with sports, house repairs, work and just plain busy. DS made the HS freshman baseball team and is also playing club hoops. They are 2-3 after w weeks. DD is playing club hoops and town softball. Hoop team is 2-0 and softball will probably start in about 2 weeks when the snow clears and the fields are dry enough to play. Looks like she is being bumped up to play with the 8th grade girls this season.

House repairs from the roof damage are underway. DW decided that since we had painters coming to do the work anyway, that it would be a good idea t have them paint the whole house.:sad2: Still need to get the actual shingles done, but that can be done before winter.

I'm going to try to go back and see what I missed. August can't get here soon enough.
