I believe it's pronounced "Sawx".
Not sure... CTians can't pronounce that. :lmao:

Always amazes me the inability NY fans have to tell whether someone is laughing with them, or AT them. :sad2:

;)
Yogi has some of the most memorable quotes ever.

Baseball is ninety percent mental. The other half is physical.

A nickel ain't worth a dime anymore.

I always thought that record would stand until it was broken

It gets late early out there.

The game's isn't over until it's over.

No, I believe it is pronounced "sucks" :lmao:
You have won the internet today! :thumbsup2

I am sitting here this morning and having to make a rough choice. Do I go salmon fishing for a week in oct with my buddies? Or do I take a 4 day trip to Disney in Nov?

I have been doing the salmon trip for some 14 yrs but have missed the last 3.
Never been to Disney with just the wife.
Salmon trip costs $400 a man which includes room, food, and beer for the week
Disney cost $600 just for airfare.
Salmon trip I will be with the group of guys again.
Disney it will be alone time with the wife.

oh what to do????
Fishing sounds like a win!

You forgot to add that you could share Dinner with Randall and I, and our wives, at Biergarten if you choose Disney...
Randall? You trying to sway Carl to the fishing trip? :lmao:

Good morning Gents - Opening day / night for college football - GO MOCS! And
only another day closer to that 3 day weekend.

Evening guys from the POP.... Back earlier then planned there was a private event tonight at DHS so it closed at 6. Tired anyways. Might hit DTD tonight for dinner somewhere.

Prayers and wishes and congrats to any and all who need it.

Enjoy and safe travels
Catamounts Football produced a rather ignominious 1-10 (0-8) record in the 2012 season defeating only the kids from Mars Hill. That does not instill in me a sense that I need to be talking’ much trash.

Now… if you want to discuss how well their band stacks up to the rest of the schools (including those in Division-1)…

http://www.ncaa.com/news/football/article/2013-08-19/battle-bands

On that subject, smack will be talked. :thumbsup2
For what's it worth UTC is ranked #25 in preseason FCS coaches poll. DD is tailgating and going to game tonight. Battle of North and South Carolina tonight as well.
Good morning all. One day closer to a three day weekend. I have cancelled Monday next week ;)
Thank you kind sir
Easiest. Invasion. Ever.
:lmao:

Morning Guys,

I woke up this morning to find out I live in the USA. Who knew?

map_zps904cde1b.jpg

Makes me wonder if thats from a recent text book. Probably Geography text.

Good Morning Guys!

Back from our trip. Will try to get to a trip report as soon as possible. Looks like I'm about 20 pages behind now. Prayers to those in need, congrats and happy birthdays to all deserving and welcome to any new guys.

Had a great week in WDW. Met up with Brent and Cliff (pics to come) and will be playing catch up here at work or the next 3 weeks.:headache: I came back to stacks of boxes, mail and things to do. Only 687 emails to get through.

Well, I'll check in later today as time allows me to go back and review and keep an eye out for the trip report.

Go to WDW and go Bass Fishing on the way down or back:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

...You're welcome

Of course, whats missing from the WDW vs Salmon fishing discussion is the wife's preference. Talk about the 600lb gorilla in the room.

So, dd (11) tried out for local dance company yesterday and did not make the cut. I know nothing about dance, but the company includes high school girls who are older, more experienced, and physically stronger than my dd is, so I can understand that. She was sad, but I used it as an opportunity to encourage her to practice and train harder for tryouts next year.

However, two other girls that did make the dance company included one older girl from a wealthy family and one with a parent as an attorney. The problem is that both girls are in high school, maybe 5.5 feet tall at the most, and about 250 pounds.

I have nothing against fat people, because I am fat people. And, while I know nothing about dance, I do know I have not seen a 250 pound dancer at WDW, AGT, or anywhere else. I just cannot imagine that either girl is a better performer than my own daughter.

I had to bite my tongue not to say that there are times in this world when it doesn't matter how good you are or how much effort you put into it, you're just gonna get screwed by people with their own agenda. It is not about talent or ability, but who you know or who your friends are. Thanks for reading.

Hey Norm. Sorry to hear DD didn't make it. It's tough when they have to start realizing it's not always about how hard you or work or talent. Hope she has a great dance season and good luck making it next year. I need to take DD to the dance studio for sign ups tonight.

There's a topic?

:rotfl2::rotfl2:
Randall,

New Man Law in the Chat.

When visiting WDW, all DisDads shall say hello to Jasmine on behalf of all the DisDads. Seconded by Matt.

Not sure I have video proof, but let's just say we visited Jasmine for a few extra minutes last week.

:rotfl2: :lmao: too funny!

It's our 20th anniversary today... taking the family to see Planes :)

I know its late, but Happy Anniversary!!

got a text today from the kid. she has been written up again!!! ( disneys words, not mine).

she has been there three months as of Tuesday and has been written up four times. she only needs one more and that's safety. there are 4 keys that are beatin into a cms head and they are safety, courtesy, show ,efficiency in that order. also learned that on the keys to the kingdom tour. she needs to get safety to have earned them all.

she was working over in tomorrow land and was caught dancing to the cha cha slide by a manager in the rain. :rotfl:

she says these look really good on your record so hopefully it will pay off for her. at this point, she is coming home in January. she wants to finish her degree here at home. (less distraction) after that she would like to go back down and work for the summer or even seasonal. she can do the college program again if she wanted to. you can be in the program for only one year at a time. she would have to come home in may 2014 so she said she would rather do her final sem. in the winter of 2014 then summer or fall of 2014.

Congratulations to Briana! We looked for her last week and I asked around, but she wasn't working while we were in the park I guess. Sorry we missed her, DD wanted to take her picture with her as she is now planning her employment with the mouse.:lmao:

Welcome back! Nice work on the Disdad meet-ups!:thumbsup2

First time on Soarin' and we got front row. It was awesome, DD and I kept lifting our feet when we were going over trees.

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2 It was nice to meet you and the family at Tusker House. Of course I'm still not sure what your youngest daughter looks like as I'll I could see was feet (Cliff can explain to the rest of you later).:lmao::rotfl2: Glad your having a great time. Enjoy the rest of your vacation.

Thanks everyone!!! I'm in the office today and came home for lunch and my phone had 10 text messages. Lol. Thanks again!!

I know it's late, but HB!

I am officially retired as a soccer coach.:cool1::cool1: Seasons are getting so long that I would be dreading by the last few weeks. Both kids decided to focus on hoops in the fall.

Happy birthday Zerf!

Fun but slightly frustrating day at Epcot, the wifi was working in fits and starts, so my communication was spotty at best and I could never get a meet up spot set up though I'll bet dollars to donuts we crossed each others paths. Maroonag1, I apologize.

I did meet Jim by sheer coincidence, DW chatted up with a guy in Mouse Gear and realized it was him so we all talked at the finer optic pathways for a while. No pictures for a bit unless Jim gets on here, all on my camera, but I'll post it. Almost missed a bus home no one directed us to the late night stop, the driver for POP noticed us in a closed off area and came and picked us up. It was a day if ups and downs, but ended on a highnote.

It was great to meet up with your family Brent. I still think given a full day together, Alexandra and Amelia could do some serious damage at WDW.:thumbsup2 Alex wants to stay in touch so I'll PM you her email so the girls can talk (or write I guess). I'll get a pic up as soon as I can of the meet. I think your pic is better than mine, but at least It will be posted. Have a great time!

with this be the last evening of our trip may I leave you all with this.

Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.

Ohh, a world of wishes,
A world where dreams come true.
So make a wish, see it through.
Dare to do what dreamers do.

Wishes...
Dream a dream.
Wishes...
Set it free.
Wishes…
Trust your heart.
Just believe.

We’re all just children,
Reaching for our dreams.
They’re shining high above us,
And even though it seems so far (so far)
We put our faith and hope on a shooting star.

Ohh...

Star light, star bright,
First star I see tonight.
I wish I may, I wish I might,
Have the wish, I wish tonight.
We’ll make a wish and do as dreamers do.

And all our wishes, (All our wishes)

All our wishes,
Will come,
True…

Wishes, wishes.

Heres wishing for Nov

Sorry we missed you Carl! Maybe next time. Glad you had a great vacation. We saw wishes a few times last week and I still sit and hug DD every time while we watch.

Very cool on both counts. if you happen to see Jim while in the parade, you are encouraged to make taunting gestures.

Hot as he!! here today. No wind, high humidity and 90+ temps. Feels like is 100. This is way past Animal Kingdom hot. For all you guys at the World, make sure you drink plenty of fluids. Save the adult beverages until later.

Didn't see the parade that day as we didn't know about it until after. Definitely would have gone over to experience a DisDad as first family.

It was ridiculously hot a couple of the days, but all in all, the weather was great! I did toast to you while having those Dole Whips!

You can always wager on the game with a side bet on the bands.

Morning Guys,

I woke up this morning to find out I live in the USA. Who knew?

Welcome to the USA, the place with real bacon.

Randall? You trying to sway Carl to the fishing trip? :lmao:

Now that is smack talk. How are things Tim?

Good morning Gents - Opening day / night for college football - GO MOCS! And
only another day closer to that 3 day weekend.

Five hours and 32 minutes to be exact. The pre-game shows start at 1:00 on ESPNU. Clients informed I have checked out until Tuesday, snacks and beverages are at the ready, phone is on Do Not Disturb and the batteries on the remote were replaced. Florida plays Toledo (yea, I know but they did have 9 wins last year) at noon on Saturday. Can't wait.

Had to slow-play that joke. Glad it was worth it.

I had to slowly catch up to it, too.

Not sure but 'wife' and '600lb gorilla' shouldn't be placed, or said, that close together. :rolleyes1

Welcome back. Looking forward to see some pics. Thanks for the toast, i would have preferred something stronger though.

Two in a row. Tim is on an Internet roll.

Spent the morning at the doctor getting blood work done. The first time the "nurse" jabbed me was a miss. She called in a reliever who got it right. A couple of gallons later, they let me go. Will know the results next week. Not expecting anything alarming.

Why do doctors think you have all the time in the world to wait until they see you? Did spend the time productively catching up on a couple of podcasts. Brian, nice job and congrats to Meagan on her first donut and your oldest's first time on thrill rides. Norm, I just started listening to yours. I am looking forward to it because HH is one of the resorts where I have yet to stay. Maybe next year.

Sure they should, if you don't mind dancing on the edge of the abyss.

And as a follow up, the BIL that had the massive heart attack on Monday passed away yesterday afternoon. Besides the blocked arteries to the heart, there wasn't much else working to keep him alive. A lifetime of abuse tends to do that to a body.

Now that is smack talk. How are things Tim?
Busy. Very busy. Juliana started school yesterday, and Melody went back to work on Monday so it's back to being Mr. Mom with the baby and Christopher (who should be napping, but who has been screaming his head off in his room for 20 minutes... yelling 'Mommy, where are you?') UGH!

::yes::

Dad' thoughts on this:

Would a one stop flight in Mid December going to WDW from Denver make since saving us $50 per person or would you elect for the non-stop?

The flight would change planes in KC with an hour layover making the total flight over 5 hours.

An early winter in KC means potential flight delays, longer lay over and even a potential missed flight. If you can afford it, I would book non-stop. It's a good amount of savings, just not sure it's worth the hassle of worrying about all the things that can go wrong.

Starting to look like I am post padding but just too far behind to go back and multi-quote. Congratulations to those deserving, welcome to anyone I missed and extra bacon for all.

CRUD. Got the 2840 broccoli in the ground this week but then rain came and the deer pulled a bunch up before we got the fence up. Behind on everything, hops got mildew and not even worth harvesting, beans drying too quickly, reports over due and found out I need to make a 4 day trip to Beltsville in late October in addition to the 2 day trip to Indianapolis in early October. Good news is our budget cut in October is only 5% instead of 7% and I'm still employed.

I am still on the green side of the sod so things could be worse.

Glad your job is still in the budget. Sorry the crops aren't cooperating. Sending out good wishes for the beans!

a little surprise for the kid. we are going to be showing up a day early for this trip. she has no idea. :rotfl: we will be getting there, pending traffic, on Friday around 5pm instead of Saturday at 2pm.
we want to head over to the mk and surprise her on Friday. she will be working Saturday so that will give us time to go food shopping etc....
she said she is packed all ready to stay with us at okw. I thought I got rid of her sleeping on the pull out in the living room. :rotfl:
being she is off I don't have to bring the Nissan this trip. this weekend im going to clean the benz inside and out and start packing it up. one of my favorite parts of the trip, getting ready!
have a good weekend!!! :thumbsup2

:thumbsup2:thumbsup2

They are releasing Mom in Law from the hospital. They found her sodium was low and had a uterine infection. They hooked her up to a IV drip with sodium and antibiotics and Jodi said her back to her old self. Did I mention Mom is 93?

Thank you again for your thoughts and prayers! :worship:

Glad things are better. Hopefully MIL will be OK.

I think I may have been insulted tonight:rotfl2: My brotherinlaw is getting married in 2 weeks and my wife wanted me to try on my suit that I got 12 years ago ( it's a really nice Italian one), by now most of you might know how this is going to go:rotfl: I'm 6ft tall and 190 lbs my wife says I look like I'm going to give birth soon:lmao:, OK so I have a bit of a beer gut but I'm german so I can put them down so what:confused3, anyway I try on my pants after a few minutes I finally got it buttoned:rotfl2:, then she said are you going to split the seem, so basically I did aerobics to prove I would not, my jacket fit fine but she said I look like I'm expecting, I told her that makes me respectable in society:thumbsup2 Am I wrong here 6ft 190 is not over weight, maybe the pants from 12 years ago may be a size 32 or 33 I take 34 now but once the are buttoned I'm fine:thumbsup2

But now it's my turn she's pulling out dresses with the tags still on them that she's never worn, I'm telling her to wear once o them the attention is on her brother not us, Now somehow I'm the bad guy:confused3

My suggestion: Smile and wave boys......Just smile and wave.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

I'm eligible to retire now. I'm one of the last on the old civil service retirement plan. The current plan is two more years which would give me about 36 years service time. To max out benefits takes 42 years. As to permanent vacation I couldn't do that. Too many opportunities to get in trouble. The master plan is retire, move to central Florida and go to work at WDW, hopefully working into their training program. I have some experience both at the college and 'corporate' levels.

Sounds like a good plan. I'm still trying to figure out how to get the wife to agree to a similar plan. Maybe she'll get sick of the winter by then. Only about 22 years left.:scared:
