And as a follow up, the BIL that had the massive heart attack on Monday passed away yesterday afternoon. Besides the blocked arteries to the heart, there wasn't much else working to keep him alive. A lifetime of abuse tends to do that to a body.

Sorry to hear about your BIL. It's a shame that some people don't change when they get that first wake-up call.

For those interested......We hit BOG Sunday night for my Birthday and the Grey stuff is delicious. I wonder what other facts the dishes can tell us.:scratchin

Whatever He Wants!

:rotfl2::rotfl2:

time for some post trip resort thoughts. But before I do .Who was it that said I would love the resort??? (this could be good or bad)

It wasn't me, but since we were thinking about a visit there, good to get feedback. It was probably CJ if it was bad advice. He seems to excel at that.:goodvibes

Does anyone know how many Dole Whips one can eat whip bouncing back and forth from Adventure land and Frontier land playing the sorcerers games?

exactly 27.2

With, or without rum?!?

With, of course.:thumbsup2

I haven't had the pleasure of meeting Carl yet. For those of you that have, does he smell like Pineapples???

:lmao::lmao:

Okay now to serious business. One of my brothers in law went into full cardiac arrest this morning on the job site. He is now on a heart lung machine and unresponsive. They are doing some form of cooling and warming to try and bring the body back on line but it doesn't look good . Forty years of alcohol abuse and smoking have done their damage.

Sorry to hear about BIL. Prayers. I did read your other post, but prayers all the same.

My how time flys, it's now Aug 25th. :yay:

Dole-Whip-GIF.gif

Thanks Brian! and everyone else for the birthday wishes.

I'll take you on in a Beverly challenge any day...

But Dole Whips, I think you'd kick my butt!!!!

Well done sir...

I started the Beverly challenge with DD taking a video. Got to 8 and decided it wasn't worth it. Of course my taste buds were teetering on the edge. One or two more and all taste buds would have been killed.

If you wake me up at 0330 and give me a gun, I'm shooting something, even if its breakfast.

:rotfl2::rotfl2: Bacon!

Sorry to hear that.

Belated Happy Birthday!

Happy Birthday Nemi! Are you another year wiser or just older? Hope it was a good one.

According to my wife, I am just another year older. :sad2::sad2: Thanks.

Morning guys!

I havent been on here very much in the last few months, mostly spending my time over at the dads board. Gonna try to get back into things here, regardless of how much work piles up on me.

Matt

Hey Matt.:wave2: Welcome back. See you in a few weeks.:lmao::lmao:

I gave up trying years ago, so I say welcome to the club. I'm just measuring milestones now - 2 years for my 100% health insurance eligible and 7 more years for retirement. Yes, that's 9 more years of dreadful work, but I just have to keep that aim for that finish line. And, I have to hope that states don't decide to follow the Detroit model, declare bankruptcies on their constitutionally guaranteed retirement benefits, and keep their $billion dollar art collections and airplanes.

9 years is not too far off. I have at least twice that and no pension. have to rely on the 401K and savings as by the social security will be useless.

Re BIL: Yeah, you'd think being dead once and coming back would be a wake up call but....

Re Retirement Plan: The wife is bang alongside going down there. She'd like to work at Disney too, answering the phone and helping people plan their trips. She does that now for people in the office.

Re 600lb gorilla wives: Just don't say or dance while she's around.

Oh, I forgot about the grey stuff, yeah, it is delicious. We ate there for our anniversary back in May and they brought some out for us. I'm suprised since i sort of embarassed the CM server. When she came to the table she said the obligatory "Bon Jour" to which i replied "Bon Jour, Comment allez vous" and she just gave me a blank stare. Guess the 'french' waitresses aren't so 'french':lmao:

Morning guys. We had dinner with some friends last night and got quite a surprise. Their kids had been selling corn, tomatoes, peppers and other stuff from their garden to raise money for our adoption! The mom said it was the kids idea and they wanted to keep it a secret until last night. Due to the heat, my eyes were leaking water to help me cool off ;)

Sounds like some great kids and good friends. :thumbsup2:thumbsup2

I would like to put forth a candidate for a new Disdads Swear Word to go along with Peanut Butter and Beverly.

Rubber Ducky

Ok, what happened in the tub?

Good morning gentlemen. :coffee:

Its been a wild week here. I'm so far behind I'm not going to bother catching up. (My inbox has 90 items and my RSS feed has over 200). Welcome new guys, condolences and congratulations where appropriate and bacon for all.

I was able to get a 40 hour work week in. Which is pretty impressive considering work is only guaranteeing part timers three days. I also had a funeral Friday for BIL's mother. Saturday my parents took the kids for the weekend. DW and I made a casino run. We both walked away up a few bucks. Sunday was a shopping run with no kids. Monday was a blur. And yesterday we met my folks at the State Fair to get the kids back. Temp at the fair was 95. We've never seen the place so empty. Yes it was hot but with so few people there were plenty of open park benches in the shade and no line for food vendors. The kids did fantastic. We went nice and slow with tons of water breaks. Every potty break we also refilled water bottles. Only thing I would change is have an extra pair of shoes for each kid. My mom packed the park bag and did not add a second pair of shoes for the kids. DS got a blister early and went through about 5 band aids. We're worried how DD will do on dark and noisy rides. so we had her ride on Ye Old Mill (Tunnel of Love). once we got her in the seat we had no worries.

Sounds like a good few days. DD was always afraid of the dark rides, but I was pretty sure she hit her crazy stage. Last week she did the following for the first (and many more) time:

Splash
BTMRR
Everest
Kali
Mission Space (yes orange)
Maelstrom
Dinosaur (although she said never again :lmao::lmao:)

Still scared of Space Mountain since it is soooooooo dark. Maybe next time.

I just got some pretty cool news (not Disney Related...that's the coolest news there is)

I just found out I'm a finalist for consideration for a show called Elite Tactical Unit on the Outdoor Channel. :cool1:

Basically it takes 20 SWAT types from all over the country, divides you into two teams with an advisor and you compete until one is left standing.

The competition includes individual and team competitions with eliminations...

They're filming the next season now, so it would be the following season. A lot will depend on my schedule between now and then, and I still have a few hoops to clear that I can't do anything about, but I qualified with no problem...

Now I gotta' go learn how to shoot a DA/SA pistol again since I carry a Glock and the show is sponsored by Sig Sauer...though I've taught and trained at Sig Sauer Academy and I'm a Sig Armorer so I'm familiar with the system (I also carry a Sig 220 at times)

Congratulations and good luck!

My FIL was talking about going deep sea fishing this Friday. I found out that not only did he book the trip for us but got a Charter instead of us going on a Head Boat. :cool1:

Score! Happy hunting and bring home the big one that always gets away.:thumbsup2

Had to go get youngest dd from school for dr appointment, so she didn't have time to ride bus home. DW told me to get to school 30 minutes early because of the car rider line. I thought that was extreme, but got there 20 minutes early. There was already a line of 25 cars, and 5 more behind me, it double filed with more than 40 in each line to the road.

Does no one take the bus anymore?

Same here. We need to be at least a half hour early to even get in the parking lot. Otherwise you are blocking the road and get dirty looks as people pass you. Still not sure why so many people pick up the kids.

You go on TV, you wear a DISDads shirt! Man Law!

Law is the law!

I believe it's pronounced "Sawx".

Yes, yes it is. And for those in Indiana.....Do you have a baseball team?

Thank you kind Sir! It only went so far though, I beat him. :lmao:

That's right, teach him early.....no mercy!:lmao::lmao:

Evening guys from the POP.... Back earlier then planned there was a private event tonight at DHS so it closed at 6. Tired anyways. Might hit DTD tonight for dinner somewhere.

Prayers and wishes and congrats to any and all who need it.

Hey Brent. Got in late last night. Flight delayed almost 2 hours. At work today. Wish we were still down there with you guys. Have fun!

Good morning all. One day closer to a three day weekend. I have cancelled Monday next week ;)

Woo-hoo! Your the best. Got tickets to the Red Sox behind the plate for Monday afternoon from a business contact of mine. :thumbsup2

I am sitting here this morning and having to make a rough choice. Do I go salmon fishing for a week in oct with my buddies? Or do I take a 4 day trip to Disney in Nov?

I have been doing the salmon trip for some 14 yrs but have missed the last 3.
Never been to Disney with just the wife.
Salmon trip costs $400 a man which includes room, food, and beer for the week
Disney cost $600 just for airfare.
Salmon trip I will be with the group of guys again.
Disney it will be alone time with the wife.

oh what to do????

Hmmmmm........I'm thinking while not as cuddly, fishing may be the choice if it were me. Room, food, beer and fishing is a pretty good deal. Of course we are still converting the wife to Disney.

Morning Guys,

I woke up this morning to find out I live in the USA. Who knew?

map_zps904cde1b.jpg

:eek: They finally started letting Canadians in!?!

And as a follow up, the BIL that had the massive heart attack on Monday passed away yesterday afternoon. Besides the blocked arteries to the heart, there wasn't much else working to keep him alive. A lifetime of abuse tends to do that to a body.

Sorry to hear that for his family's sake.

Once again, everyone here is jealous of your life, CJ. :thumbsup2

You have the life!

::yes::

I'll take it.

Busy. Very busy. Juliana started school yesterday, and Melody went back to work on Monday so it's back to being Mr. Mom with the baby and Christopher (who should be napping, but who has been screaming his head off in his room for 20 minutes... yelling 'Mommy, where are you?') UGH!

The Princess starting her academic career. Good for her. You sure it is Christopher and not you sitting in a corner yelling “Mel, where are you?” I watched Crash when she was six month old Crash for a couple of months. Not enjoyable.

...DD was always afraid of the dark rides, but I was pretty sure she hit her crazy stage. Last week she did the following for the first (and many more) time:

Congrats to her. Today BTMRR, next time Space and RRRC.

In case anyone lost count, TWO HOURS AND THIRTY-SEVEN MINUTES.

Welcome back. Looking forward to see some pics. Thanks for the toast, i would have preferred something stronger though.

Two in a row. Tim is on an Internet roll.

Spent the morning at the doctor getting blood work done. The first time the "nurse" jabbed me was a miss. She called in a reliever who got it right. A couple of gallons later, they let me go. Will know the results next week. Not expecting anything alarming.

Why do doctors think you have all the time in the world to wait until they see you? Did spend the time productively catching up on a couple of podcasts. Brian, nice job and congrats to Meagan on her first donut and your oldest's first time on thrill rides. Norm, I just started listening to yours. I am looking forward to it because HH is one of the resorts where I have yet to stay. Maybe next year.

I like the first nurse. She should have kept stabbing until she got it right.:rotfl2::rotfl2:

Sure they should, if you don't mind dancing on the edge of the abyss.

Missed this post... that's awesome! Bets on who will spot the first HM if you make it to the show?? :lmao:

The wife actually agreed to the bounce back! Right now booked at French Quarter with 7 day park hopper(WP&M) and food. Have option to change resorts and are trying to decide. Ressie booking date is in Feb. and already checked flight points and will have enough for the flight.

While the trip report is still not started, here are the meet ups from last week.

First is at Epcot with Brent and family. The girls had fun playing while we got introduced and talked for a while. I am in the yellow with my daughter Alexandra. Not a great pick, but I'm sue Brent will post a better one when he gets back. We learned that my iPhone doesn't like the dark.

Second was at Tusker House in AK. Met Cliff and his family after breakfast. Happy birthdays were exchanged and then off for adventure. I'll trust the information above will help you figure out which one is which. That other handsome guy in the pick is my son, Evan. And yes CJ, he gets his looks from his mother.:lmao:

oops sorry for the big picture. Did not realize it would come across so big

From what I understand, Carl, is that you've gone fishing with these guys many times over the years. And you have never been to WDW with just your wife for a couples trip. Do I have that right? If so, then the answer is as plain as the ring on your finger.
