Staycation Day 7 ownage.

Man is it hot out! Typical Indiana though, we will be back in the 70's by the end of the week.

Got the cruise officially booked  need to add another ticker. Might as well update my trip report while I am at it, right Andy?? :lmao:

So, we officially didn't scare you off?

Hi guys.

On the basis of the below stated Man Law, I would like to throw my hat into the ring to be a DIS-Dad

ManLawsBasic1.png

This is man world. We discuss man topics. MAN LAW!!! Below is our list of MAN LAWS as decreed by members:

[*]Any adult male who shares his love of Disney with a future generation of Disney fans is a DIS Dad.

No family of my own at this point but eagerly awaiting the arrival of a niece or nephew and while waiting for that have been sharing my love/obsession with all things Disney with my students at school. I seem to get the eye rolling from my Principal more and more these days.:confused3

Anyway, I'm an American who has been transplanted to Switzerland 9 years ago. Moved here to teach music at an international school. Was in Orlando area for the 6 years prior to that and while there was a Cast Member at WDW.

I still get back to WDW and DCL frequently as I became a DVC member in anticipation of having a family one day, even though the prospect of a niece or nephew is more promising than one of my own.

Most recent trip was 2 weeks over Easter that included 4 nights on the Dream, 3 nights at WDW and 7 nights on the Fantasy. And the upcoming plans are for another Land/Sea Combo during our week break in October.
OKW/Dream/AKV

Looking forward to reading a lot of your trip reports and just keeping up with the guys here on the DIS.

Cheers,
Christopher

Although officially being a DAD is not mandatory, as was discussed earlier today, unfortunately we have to VETO your request as we already have our quote of Christopher's.

Sorry bud... ;) Maybe you can find an expectant uncle's club somewhere.

:rotfl2:

Hahaha... Obviously I am just kidding.

:welcome: to the Club House Christopher.

I also suspect you may be a milestone member... but we will need Emma's dad to confirm that.

I would like to join the DDC! I knew this forum was here, but never joined because I wasn't a "dad" yet. My wife and I have just finalized an the adoption of our son though, so I am finally a true "DisDad" to my son Braxton. Thanks

Congrats on the new addition. Welcome to the group. Also a welcome shout out to Christopher.

Welcome and a huge congratulations!!!!! Finalization is a great day!!
We call it our kids gotcha day. It is a day to celebrate.

I like the characterization.

Get to it. Congrats on the cruise. Raft building will start tomorrow.

Marlins beat the Gnats so it was a good day today. The Pirate Princess is over at a friends house and I will be having leftover ribs and potato salad.

Hoping everyone had a great Memorial Day. Thanks to all of our Veterans and Armed Forces Dad's out there!

Thanks for the welcomes from many of you. I'm Jon, and hail from Oklahoma City. My wife and I went on our first official Disney trip last June and loved it. I did a trip report, its in my signature, although I am not near as interesting as most of the other trip reporters on here. We wanted to make a return trip this year, but due to the adoption we have decided to wait and go next Summer when Braxton is about 15 months old. This is due in part to the fact that the adoption is not 100% final yet. All parental rights have been relinquished, but in Oklahoma there is a mandatory 6 month waiting period so we are still involved in that, but the hard days are over. Also, due to the finances involved in the adoption process we wanted to take some time to get some of that taken care of as well. Finally, Braxton was born with a cleft lip and so he is having surgery to repair that on July 5, so it is going to be a busy summer with the surgery and that will bring some other expenses as well. So needless to say, by next June we will need some Disney!

By the way, I would post pictures of Braxton, but I cannot do that per adoption agency regulations until the 6 months is up. I will post at that point.

My wife and I are both in education (I teach Physics and coach football/track & field and my wife is a school counselor) so we can't take a trip except over Christmas break or in the summer. Early June worked very well for us last year though as far as the crowds. That is a good time to go as we still beat a lot of people to DW as we get out of school early in Oklahoma compared to many places. We are planning a big trip for next summer though with some family members as well and we are even planning on staying two nights at Universal so we can see Harry Potter and get front of the line access. Because I have to wait an entire year to go back I definitely need a place to get the Disney fix!

I think I knew it was also for Dad's in sprit, I just never got around to getting on board. I am looking forward to being a part!!

Jon it is great to have you here with us. As an adoptive father myself I well undestand the finacial strain and the limitations you have until everything is final!! I will look forward to hearing more from you and seeing pictures of your son when you are permitted to do so!!! Barry is also another adoptive father on here...we might need to start a DisDad adoptive Father club~!~:thumbsup2

I would gladly join this club. It has been an awesome experience thus far!

I've got some friends who are adoptive dads. You guys rock!!!

In a selfish note...I've started a Pre-trip report, link is in my sig. It's boring for now, but I've started it at least.

Night's entertainment is taken care of. Two of the best WWII movies are on, Bridge over the River Kwai and the Great Escape are on TCM. Break out the popcorn. Will be up until about 1 AM.

Have the new guys found us on facebook yet???? We like to harass each other there too! :rotfl2:
