It was a Monday like no other up here in Canada and there will never be another like it.

Love Great Escape, have it on DVD. But I'm watching the basketball game tonight. C'mon Celtics...

I'll go with the Heat. Big Lebron fan.

Not all. I can't tell you how excited Kim and the girls are :thumbsup2

I should hear back on a room assignment soon, do you guys have yours yet?

Yes, we have our room. In 6000s. Will check for specific.

Hi guys.

On the basis of the below stated Man Law, I would like to throw my hat into the ring to be a DIS-Dad

No family of my own at this point but eagerly awaiting the arrival of a niece or nephew and while waiting for that have been sharing my love/obsession with all things Disney with my students at school. I seem to get the eye rolling from my Principal more and more these days.:confused3

Looking forward to reading a lot of your trip reports and just keeping up with the guys here on the DIS.

Cheers,
Christopher

Thanks for the welcome. I imagine dues are Dole Whips, beer, and bacon amongst other things.:rotfl2: I have read a bit through the thread already:lmao:

Christopher

Welcome. Good to see you know the dues, although surprisingly, none ever arrive in my mailbox.

Switching between that and the Indy 500 Victory Banquet :thumbsup2

I have all ready given the order.

All 3 of our vehicles now have over 100K on them.
I'm closing in on 200k on my Jeep. :thumbsup2

Thanks for the welcomes from many of you. I'm Jon, and hail from Oklahoma City. My wife and I went on our first official Disney trip last June and loved it. I did a trip report, its in my signature, although I am not near as interesting as most of the other trip reporters on here. We wanted to make a return trip this year, but due to the adoption we have decided to wait and go next Summer when Braxton is about 15 months old. This is due in part to the fact that the adoption is not 100% final yet. All parental rights have been relinquished, but in Oklahoma there is a mandatory 6 month waiting period so we are still involved in that, but the hard days are over. Also, due to the finances involved in the adoption process we wanted to take some time to get some of that taken care of as well. Finally, Braxton was born with a cleft lip and so he is having surgery to repair that on July 5, so it is going to be a busy summer with the surgery and that will bring some other expenses as well. So needless to say, by next June we will need some Disney!

By the way, I would post pictures of Braxton, but I cannot do that per adoption agency regulations until the 6 months is up. I will post at that point.

My wife and I are both in education (I teach Physics and coach football/track & field and my wife is a school counselor) so we can't take a trip except over Christmas break or in the summer. Early June worked very well for us last year though as far as the crowds. That is a good time to go as we still beat a lot of people to DW as we get out of school early in Oklahoma compared to many places. We are planning a big trip for next summer though with some family members as well and we are even planning on staying two nights at Universal so we can see Harry Potter and get front of the line access. Because I have to wait an entire year to go back I definitely need a place to get the Disney fix!

I think I knew it was also for Dad's in sprit, I just never got around to getting on board. I am looking forward to being a part!!
Congrats on the adoption and welcome to the club! As Steve said, I'm an adoptive father myself (along with 2 biological). The day we went to court to get everything finalized was one of the best days of my life.

Got the cruise officially booked  need to add another ticker. Might as well update my trip report while I am at it, right Andy?? :lmao:
Nice!:thumbsup2

Anyway, I'm an American who has been transplanted to Switzerland 9 years ago. Moved here to teach music at an international school. Was in Orlando area for the 6 years prior to that and while there was a Cast Member at WDW.

I still get back to WDW and DCL frequently as I became a DVC member in anticipation of having a family one day, even though the prospect of a niece or nephew is more promising than one of my own.

Most recent trip was 2 weeks over Easter that included 4 nights on the Dream, 3 nights at WDW and 7 nights on the Fantasy. And the upcoming plans are for another Land/Sea Combo during our week break in October.
OKW/Dream/AKV

Welcome to the club!

I am a Miami fan (city & state) and LeBron fan. Not a Heat fan. Don't need to make up anything for best NCAA basketball team ever.

Closer game than I expected. If the Heat lose, this town will be all gloom and doom just like when they went down 2-1 to Indy. LeBron is one of those once in a decade players. But Wade will always be the heart of this team to me. As an aside, I hate the city of Miami other than the weather and closeness to the Keys. People are idiots down here. Must be the closeness to the equator.

Um, yes KY are this year's champs. But as a reminder, since 2000, NCAA BB Champs. Florida 2 Kentucky 1. Which reminds me, I still owe you a beverage.

I have all ready given the order.

Be Happy in your Work.

And I know many more best days followed. A big pat on the back to all of you adoptive fathers.

The final staycation ownage.

I'm closing in on 200k on my Jeep. :thumbsup2
!

I'm closing in on that on the minivan, 170K on the Camry. I'll take a jeep over a minivan.

.

I'll pick Miami over any city in KY. The only thing we beat you in is a lower crime rate here in my town. As for college basketball, do we really need to do a history lesson? UK has the most wins, highest winning %, most final fours, and second in championships.

Norm, remember this is CJ. He lives in a town where they think 1972 was the pinnacle of football.

I was in Kentucky last summer. Seemed like a nice place. Beautiful country. Also some good BBQ. Spend a couple of hours driving in Miami and that will change your mind.

Basketball at Florida was an intramural sport until Billy got there. If you want to go back to the days when they used peach buckets as baskets, yes, KY was successful. It has become a great rivalry though. Have to admit, I would like to see a game at Rupp. Not that I could get tickets.

Heat up big going into the 4th.

Brilliant!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

And, in another twist of irony, after Schnellenberger left Miami, he came to another Kentucky school and built UL football.

4th.

And you didn't even call me for a meet-up? I am so ashamed.

When I got home from work today, we planned to go somewhere for some family fun, now I live about 3 miles either way from 2 major Boardwalks at the shore (one of them is on TV well MTV:lmao:) but thats where everyone is at so there was no way we were going there, so instead we drove a hour to PA to Sesame Place, we got there at 4pm, I thought they were open till 8 but found out they were open till 6, well mo matter, so we have 2 hrs:scared1:, we ended up doing the lazy river 3 times in a row during the parade, did 4 other water rides (slide type don't know what the names are:confused3), did all the rides my son wanted to go on including the roller coaster twice, and finished by 5:50:banana: Basically got everything done except the shows, the crowd was not bad at all, guess they were all by my house:rotfl2:

I was able to change my hours tomorrow to 4-12:eek: so I can go on my son's class trip, it should prove to be a interesting trip with me as a chaperone:confused3:lmao:

Ouch! But if I remember correctly, the Dolphins kept the Bears from going undefeated in 86. I don't talk pro football. Too painful. Bad owners and incompetent front office for years.

Brilliant!!! :lmao: :rotfl: :lmao:

UM can fall into a sinkhole and I would be a happy camper. Despise the Canes. And isn't UL now led by a former Florida defensive coordinator? Good coach.

Relatively new to this board back then. Would have gladly tossed a few back with you. Had a fun solo trip after dropping off the kid near Atlanta. Did the caves, went to Makers Mark and had some good food. Spent a couple of days in a city south of Lexington. Found this Mexican place and had a great authentic dinner. Who would have thought that.

Love Bridge...first watched it one night while up with Amelia one of the first nights she was home. It's funny, but I associate the movie with the thrills and nerves of being a new dad.
Also I sat there hoping at some point for Nicholson to say "This is not the bridge you're looking for" :lmao:

Whoops... looks like I posted to the wrong thread to get on the member roll. :)
So... here we go again!

I lived in Orlando in my gradeschool years and went to Disney any time we had friends/family visit from out of town. Towards the later years, I recall thinking "Disney Again?!!". I can't believe I'd have such a terrible thought! I'd love to visit that often now!!
