DDA Chapter 7

My service unit told me I did not need to attend the Bridging ceremony tonight, so I get to be home tonight.:goodvibes :cool1:

So after spending all weekend soggy from being out in the rain, I think I may be getting sick. I am in my bed with my laptop.:cool2:

My cat Penny died today. This is the first time I have been petless in over 20 years. She was 18 years old.

I'm so sorry about Penny. :grouphug: I hope you feel better soon. Congrats on the repositioning cruise. I'm so jealous! I love sea days.

Well, it's official. I am registered for the Princess Half Marathon in March 2009. I better get in shape now. I figured I would have to sign up or I would never actually start the program. This better be me in the next 10 months.

Congrats! I know you'll do well.

So the soccer drama continues... Eric had a formal complaint lodged against him as a result of Molly's game from this past Thursday night. The other team is coached by 2 girls who are about 16 years old as not one of the parents would step up and volunteer. There was this one dad from the other team who was obnoxious the entire game. He was yelling and screaming at Eric, our other coach and the kids. He felt that Eric was not being fair on the field. What I can't understand is that we do not keep score, the game is played for fun. The coaches are there to teach them the basics of the game in a non competitive atmosphere. The director of the clinic teams is the mom of the opposing teams coach. So in order for her to remain unbiased she is going to bring this matter before the Board of Directors on Wednesday evening for a decision to be made.

The end of soccer and school cannot come fast enough!

I kept Emma home from school today. She was feeling better but I thought a day away would be good for her. Luckily only the brothers showed up so it was a relatively easy day. We spent the afternoon researching what else, Egypt and King Tut!

:grouphug: That's really sad that it's a learning league and parents/coaches are yelling at their kids.

Garrett has 8th grade recognition Thursday night, so we went shopping tonight for something besides jeans for him to wear.

My baby will be in High School soon

Oh my goodness. I would be sad, too. :grouphug: I know you're very proud of him!

I brought Button home today. :dogdance:

The prognosis is good and the vet was very pleased with her reaction to all that was done to her. We return to have the sutures removed next week. We will know more then. Thanks for all the good wishes for her.

I'm so glad to hear Button is doing well. PD for continued recovery!

Chris talked me into sending an email to the casting call. I'm sure we won't hear anything, but we couldn't resist trying. :goodvibes

Good luck!

Okay I just realized the Food and Wine festival will be going on while we are at WDW. Are their any tips I should Know? Should we try to do this? Does any one know any thing about this Behind the Seeds Greenhouse Tour?

Jennifer -- we've done this, and my boys loved it. Especially Jake. I'm not sure that it would keep Olivia's attention. You walk to a section, then stay there for 5 - 10 minutes while they talk about that area, then move along, and I don't think there were places to sit.

Hi Ya'll,,

Hal and I had a good time. I probably more than Hal, but Bruce gave him a few happy pills, so he did better each day.

We finally left at noon and drove straight thru except for a stop for sandwiches and two stops for me for the bathroom.

I think Hal thought Friday night was the night for the guys to save the world, but Bruce wasn't ready for it. So, by about 11:30pm, Hal was a little loopy, in pain, and definately ready for bed. I had to help him get down the hallway to the bedroom. :lmao:

Saturday morning, Carol and I drove to the co-op they belong to and I bought a really pretty pair of earrings. I will take a picture later and post it. Then we drove an hour away to Elkins for lunch and then to Buckhanon to pick up a table saw. We had a fun day but I must admit that I love being close to where I need to go when I have to shop.
The guys spent the day looking at videos about wood carving. I think Hal took a nap too.

Sunday it rained. so Carol and I put together a lot of floral arrangements for the wood vases Bruce had made.

Today we drove home and made it back in about 5 and a half hours.

I always enjoy our time down there, because it is so very easy and laid back. The company is great, food delicious, and lots of great stories.

I'm glad you guys had a great time. I hope Hal continues to feel better.

It got up to 99/100 here yesterday. I was glad that Jake didn't have to be out at the baseball park until 7 last night. The boys have swimming after school, then Jake has another late baseball game. Have a great day everyone! :)

Oh that's PLENTY of time! If Kyle's vacation schedule ever comes back, I'm running it then too if we're there at the right time! :goodvibes

Woohoo. :woohoo: I'll be hoping Kyle's schedule comes out so you can join me! I did find one of my Pal Mickey friends is going to be there. We haven't met yet but she lives in Michigan. We chatted alot on the Pal Mickey Adult club. That closed down about a year ago and we still chat once in awhile on the DIS.

Did you see on the registration site that DST occurs that day? That's terrible timing! :rotfl:

ETA: Wow, the course is INFINITELY better than the 1/2 for marathon weekend, too! This race looks like it will really be nice!

Another Edit :rotfl:! It looks like there will definitely be Pirate and Princess parties then, too! I guess runners get entrance to a post-race party held at one of them (if they buy tickets, of course!)

Ooh, the 5K the day before the Princess half can include daddies and strollers! How cute would it be to have princess-decorated jogger strollers and also do the 5K as a family?! :teeth:

Jennifer - Sounds like you have something to occupy yourself with today. I am glad Kyle's vacation schedule seems to work well with your wishes!

Yes, it's about time! I've been waiting to start planning this trip for ages! I could have done general stuff without dates, but where is the fun in that? ;)

I have a biophysical profile and OB appt today too, and it's Kyle's birthday. We aren't doing much, but maybe dinner after or something... it should be a good day (assuming I don't go to the hospital! ;)). :goodvibes

Yes, I saw that. And on top of that, I'm from the Central Time Zone so it is actually an hour earlier for me. Of course, with as much as I work in Lansing anymore, the difference in Time Zones is just regular for me.

I decided not to buy tickets for the party. We are going to leave the next day. I may change my mind as it gets closer. Hopefully, we'll be able to buy discounted tickets closer if we chose not to now.

I'm glad to hear you think the course is better. There are others that are complaining about it on the Wishes forum. They think that a Princess Marathon should go through MK and the castle. I figure in January of 2010, I will be running the full marathon so I'll get to run the full course then.

Now that would be neat. I'd have to sign up for that as well if you were in it with two little princesses and Kyle.

You always have such fun with those friends :goodvibes You were blessed to find them.

I see you applied, but i wanted to point out to anyone else interested they really touched a lot on multi-generational travel and DVC members. We were stoked, considering every other time we travel it's with parents and grandparents (and by default sisters/nieces, etc), who will soon be great-grandparents, and on both sides of the family. It seems to me they might have at least one family with extended family in a grand villa, which is perfect! The whole "first 2 weeks of June" thing sort of put us off, though....

When you sign in, click "Options" in the upper right (if you're using the regular version, not beta). There will be 3 columns, the middle says "management". About 2/3 down there is "Vacation Response". :goodvibes

Most of our trip include 3 generations for at least part of the trip. This year will include my brother's family too. I read the early June 2008 part and it would be difficult for us as the kids are still in school, but we could work it out if we were selected. Of course the beginning of June is only a couple of weeks away. I was kind of hoping that the end of June would be soon enough for them anyway :) Of course with tens of thousands of families applying it is really a mute point anyway. Can't hurt to try.

Yesterday was practically frigid here, and it's barely breaking 60 today. I hate the hot summers with a passion so I'm glad they aren't here yet.... but goodness! It wouldn't hurt to hit 70!

I just got an email that Kyle got his first requests for vacation next (work) year, so we/he will be off the second half of October 2008, and the first half of March 2009! He also got a really wonderful elective for July, when we have new babies... which was really important to us at one point (and will be then).... but right now I am just glad I finally get to start planning our trip! :teeth: We had picked the first half of March as a request to go as soon as possible, but now we're realizing we won't be able to get a third (at least) trip out of APs that start then (he can never take off earlier than March). We're trying to get around that by booking the second week (we're doing a "shorter" trip the first time anyway, just about a week)... then in 2010 hopefully we can get the same block and go the first week. Easter is late next year, so I'm thrilled that the crowds should be decent!

It was frigid here yesterday too. Not looking much warmer today. I'm glad that his schedule works well for you next year.

:wizard: Good luck with your appointments today. Hopefully those girls are willing to hang out at home for another week. You've done very well so far.

Well, I suppose it would make sense to run through the MK and castle for a Princess theme. Have the folks complaining ran the half there, though? It is by FAR the most boring course I've ever seen, anywhere, for about half of it. It's the greatest for the other half, so it makes up for it... but the road between Epcot and the MK is horrendous, and you have to do it twice! It is definitely a buzz kill, especially when it's after the MK and almost the entire second half of your race! :faint:

If Disney had to choose between a dreadful path that happened to run through the castle (for 10 minutes, max), or a course that overall seems like it will at least have more to look at (and more opportunities for entertainment, etc) then I think they made the right choice! :goodvibes

Vicki...you go girl. You can be the DDA weightloss participant:goodvibes I'm in awe that you are taking on such a challenge. How long is the course in miles?

:wizard: Good luck with your appointments today. Hopefully those girls are willing to hang out at home for another week. You've done very well so far.

You absolutely should have applied! Honestly, if your family got picked for an opportunity like this, I think most people (on either side of the "debate") would pull kids out of school! :goodvibes

Unfortunately (or fortunately?) only the 5K offers a stroller registration -- or registration for men it appears, for that matter! I'll have to talk with Kyle more about it. A 5K would be something we could do without even training, and I hear they are a ton of fun with jogging strollers! If the dates we choose work out, I'm quite sure we'd do that one.

The half would be what we'd have to discuss more. Would I want to run it alone? More importantly, could Kyle handle two bored infants on the sidelines for 3+ hours (through registration, etc) - including getting them ready and to the race course? :rotfl: Or would they just stay in the hotel, do a park alone, etc.... in which case I doubt I'd want to give up that time with them. We'll see! I'd love to do it though, if we can figure it out! Especially with a tiara-shaped medal! :teeth: :thumbsup2

I'll check back in after the appointments. Well, I'm sure I'll be here on and off before then, but I'll definitely do that as well :). I'm a little nervous because both babies have dropped for quite some time, and my contractions are no longer being quieted with rest, hydration, etc. After last weeks internal exam, I'm sure there will be some changes (and I haven't been wrong about that yet, unfortunately!). The question is, how significant...

ETA: I should say Baby A has dropped/engaged a while ago, technically. There's only room down there for one at a time, but Baby B has definitely descended as far as she can go, now, too! Too bad it didn't provide heartburn, back and breathing relief like it should have, since they still take up so daggone much room! :rotfl:

Vicki...you go girl. You can be the DDA weightloss participant:goodvibes I'm in awe that you are taking on such a challenge. How long is the course in miles?

Is she around anymore? Vicki signed up for the half-marathon, which is 13.1 miles.

Yay for planning! I know how it is to wait for vacation dates to be set - I hate that part, and it makes DH snarky when I start planning before he bids. He doesn't get that I will go back and change everything if he can't get the dates I am planning for. I just don't like to sit and not plan at all while we wait!

Happy Birthday, Kyle! :dance3:

We were!!!!

I don't know if I ever said how we met. Hal is a Ham Radio person and he would talk on the 'net' to Bruce and help to pass messages and other things along the 'net'. Bruce kept saying to come on down and since Hal had heard someone else had already met Bruce, he thought why not?

Twelve years later and we have the nicest friendship.

Vicki...you go girl. You can be the DDA weightloss participant:goodvibes I'm in awe that you are taking on such a challenge. How long is the course in miles?

13.1 miles for the half marathon. The marathon is 26.2 which I'll be running in January 2010.

If it's any concellation I didn't get any relief until my boys were born. But it was instant relief. The heartburn and nausea was completely gone seconds after childbirth. The boys engaged early too. I can so relate to how you feel. I had 60 extra lbs and was HUGE even as early as I had them I was HUGE. I had preeclampsia with the first 2 so the swelling started fairly early and nothing helped that. The blood pressure didn't kick in until days or hours before I was enduced.

Is she around anymore? Vicki signed up for the half-marathon, which is 13.1 miles.

 I'm sure I could run 3 or 4 miles without training, but there is no training in the world that would have me ready for 13.1 miles by next march :thumbsup2

Aw...the pre internet net. You guys must be 2 peas in a pod with selecting your friends.

I look out the window to beautiful blue skies and think warm summer day, then I remember that it is currently 55 degrees with a predicted high of 62. Jeans and a turtleneck sweater for me today :sad2: My family thought I was nuts for packing already, but with temperatures like this we won't need summer clothes here before our trip:rolleyes1
