I did, and they were tickled that you thought of them!

Love your new sig pic. I have to find time to ready your TR.

I have to work on it some more before I go back to work!

Happy New Year everyone!

Not a very busy day around here...just some errands this morning, now Terra's playing at Kristi's and I'm hanging here (from Kristi's) until it's time to pick Phil up from work.

It looks like we did pretty well on the Give a Day options. There are 47 in our area and about 8 that Terra can do. The one we're working on signing up for is:
"Almost Home provides transitional housing and support services to teen Moms and their children.
Hosting a baby shower to collect diapers, wipes and lotion would be so important to relieving these Moms and Almost Home of this expensive and on-going need.
Must be able to deliver items to Almost Home."

From the sounds of it, we host a baby shower for friends in our home and then drop off the donated items. Terra is really excited and I think it sounds like fun. I like it too as the timing can be what works for us. Other options for us were some gardening things, a couple of "moving days" for a transitional location for homeless families, sorting/organizing at Nurses for Newborns, and one or two others.

Tia, nice number :thumbsup2 8888 posts:goodvibes
I'm glad that you guys have some good options. I'm wondering why the Salvation Army or American Red Cross doesn't have anything offered close to us :confused3 Working at a food bank, homeless shelter or Senior Center would be a really good experience for my family

I looked up the "Give a Day...Get a Day" on the disney website because you were discussing it and there were only 4 options given. All were 75 miles one way from where I live...3 were girl scout related (two of which you had to be no younger than 55 years old and willing to lead a lecture, the other was to be a girl scout leader) and the fourth was an animal rescue center. Once I pay for gas there and back and lunch out...I can easily pay for the day at a park. It sounds like a great idea...just not well executed for it to work for people that live in rural areas.

That is my thinking too Dolly. If I were traveling somewhere I might see if there was something available in that area for a few hours, otherwise I'll hope that something pops up more locally. If it were last year I bet my volunteering at the Extreme Makeover Home Edition would have been an option  Oh well, such is life.

Yes, I did. Thank you!

Was it paperwork from me or the actual voucher (which I don't think you need...but want to make sure). Normally I don't send out the paperwork from me anymore but who knows! My mind is so lost lately...

I think I got both. I remember opening something very carefully. I learned my lesson one time not to just pull stuff out of the envelope, as pixie dust may fly everywhere! ;) I do know I got the voucher.

We had a wonderful visit with my high school bf. She seems so happy. She has finally met the man of her dreams and it definitely shows. That just proves that it's never too late to give up on love. She is even thinking that maybe having kids is a possibility in the future, but she is 40 now.

I had a nice nap this afternoon as I really didn't sleep last night, just couldn't fall asleep.

Tonight I made a very healthy dinner that my entire family liked :thumbsup2 That never happens, someone always complains, but new year no complaint. I guess it's been a good day :goodvibes

So we're just over 6 months out for our WDW trip. I was thinking about ADRs and as crazy as it seems I don't think we're doing any this trip. Since we will be over eating on the cruise the following week we really want to keep things light and since we only have 7 Disney days we don't want to give up park time for sit down meals. So am I crazy or does that make sense?

More trip planning. So how does one pack for a week at WDW, a week cruise and then a week in Orlando at US/Seaworld? I'm thinking that we need multipurpose outfits, geared more toward the cruise probably :confused3 I can wash in the treehouse villas so everything will be clean for the cruise. I'll need to do laundry when we get off the ship though. I can't imagine how I could successfully pack enough for each of us to go 2 weeks (cruise and after) without laundry. Even if we had enough clothes (which we probably do) I don't think I could fit it all in the car:rolleyes1

I think the Give a Day get a Disney day is a great idea. I wish Disney would have done a better job promoting the Give a Day get a day program to non-profit organizations. I think if they would have sent information to major non-profit headquarters and non-profit journals/publications or on websites that are distributed and used by large and small orgs, that they were running this program and how to get their organization involved in it, I bet we would be seeing more opportunities. I suspect as the year goes on other organizations may sign up to be an organization that you can work with for the Give A day promo, but who knows how fast the tickets will go.

That being said we have one local opportunity, packing food at the food bank, but you must do it M-F. I sent them the message to schedule the volunteer time. I hope to be able to volunteer on MLK day or Good Friday so I do not need to take a day off.

I had a good first day to the New Year. We went to my Grandma's and finally did our Christmas celebration. Then I came home and watched a movie, now I am relaxing.

I think that's the way to go. Pack for the cruise plus a couple of other pieces for the parks if necessary. I can't see your normal "day" cruise-wear not being going for either parks. Plus, I'm sure your US hotel has a laundry room somewhere. You could just run a few loads on the first day, right after the cruise, and then start off at the parks first thing the next morning. (Or maybe run a few loads on the last full-day of the cruise.) With the whole driving aspect, I think laundry will definitely be the way to go.

Deb - Is there anything for Project Linus? That's for age 6+ and I wonder if they'd let you mail in your blankets...

Chuck and I are not making any ADR's for our February/March trip either. We are going to try walk-up and if we don't get anything we know where we will eat for Counter Service.

Nothing in our area. I wonder if I should put in some random zip codes to see if any online or mail in opportunity comes up:confused3

My SIL had her first son at 40 something. We were worried about her but all went normal.
