DDA Chapter 16

So I thought the next funeral I was going to would be for my Grandpa, as we were going to bring in hospice Monday. Instead they are now talking about him going to a rehab center as of tomorrow.

My Uncle's Mom and step-dad were both killed in a car accident today. We have no idea how the funeral and things are going to work as they both had previous marriages, and both of their previous spouses are predeceased and buried at different locations.

My poor Uncle feels like his life is falling apart between his wife wanting to leave, his FIL being in the hospital and having tons of medical issues and now his Mom and Step father dying.

I can only image how my 2 cousins are feeling, as they lost two Grandparents at once in addition to all the other wackiness going on.

Please remember to tell your loved ones that you love them, as you never know what is going to happen. :wizard:

How sad :( Your entire family will be in my prayers! :grouphug:

Becky, I am so sorry. That is just tragic. :grouphug: :grouphug: :grouphug:

Hmm. DS's friend's mom e-mailed me yesterday asking if DS has his Science Fair packet. Her DS left his at school, and the stupid projects are due 1/7. Well, YES, DS has his packet but we NEED IT. She was asking if they could copy it. Sure. No problem.
She called a little while ago and asked if they could come pick it up from us tonight. Um, NO. We NEED IT. I am not about to pay to copy it for them. If they want to meet me at Kinko's then more power to them, but I am not going to copy it and bring it to them. MY child HAS his packet, so this should not be an inconvenience for ME. :headache:
They live pretty close to Princess, but I wasn't on the phone with the mom long enough to establish that. Her little one bumped his head and he was crying, so she said she will call me back. That was 45 minutes ago. DH is going to bed. I have a feeling this is going to be a huge pain in the butt. I should have said DS left his packet at school because his project is finished. Ha ha. We are still struggling to come up with a project. I think we have one, but I don't think we can make 2 pages of research to go with it. :headache:

sounds like a good plan!!

I had a hankering for bbq to....that's why I spent some money and treated everybody to our favorite hole in the wall bbq place last night....sweet tea and sweet potato fries topped off the bbq:goodvibes

Oh yum!!! That sounds soo incredibly good right now. I got a Barefoot Contessa cookbook for Christmas and there is a wonderful sounding sweet potato fry recipe in it. I love them, but haven't found any really good ones since leaving New England. I take that back. I did find one place with great ones, but they only lasted less than a year in our food courts and are gone now.

You'll never beleive this.

Someone found Bob's ring on Wed. The day he lost it. Why would you not tell someone that day!? Apparently the guy found it, left with it before their holiday party (because everyone knew that he was looking for it after the party) and told him today 20 minutes ago. HELLO?!?

Or is this just how men are? "Oh yea, I found something a week ago that might be yours." :headache:

But we have a ring! So enough with my venting.

I'm so glad it's been found!!

Everyone New Year's plans sound perfect. We are doing our Christmas Eve celebration tomorrow night. Dana and I (and our gangs) are usually together for NY's Eve so it was only a matter of getting Amy on board. We normally fondue for NY's so we'll do that and open our Christmas gifts! I swear that it still feels like Christmas hasn't come yet because nothing was normal.

Our plans seemed to have developed into snack type foods and Mom and Dads with a string of games on the list. I know we're playing dominos Mexican Train. Pictionary, Scattergories and my new dice game (Toss Up or something like that) have been mentioned too.

I had a friend make my tree skirt from Christmas fabric. I HATE the tree skirts in the stores because they are always too small for my tree or look like they are made from fabric that will fall apart if you look at them wrong. I'll post a picture when I get home of it...if you know anyone that sews, they are really easy to make!

Oooo, I'd love to see it. I want to make one for our new tree (once we get it) for next year. I'm watching the trees at our Target to go further clearance and then hope to snag one up.

THANK YOU for all the birthday wishes for Sophie!:goodvibes :goodvibes :goodvibes

We had a great time at Chuck E Cheese..We must have gotten their before everyone else decided to go because it was not crowded at all. We got our pizza, the kids played & then got their presents with their tickets at the end. Sophie was having a blast as she won more tickets than she ever has before. Just as we were leaving the place turned into a madhouse.

Just before we left for chuck's we discovered that somebody smashed in the back of my van pretty badly in front of my house. We found a large wrench not too far away. Who the heck would do such a thing & why?:confused3 The smash is at least 1 foot around. It has to be at least a grand to pay to fix. We do have alot of rich kids around here with nothing better to do unfortunately.:sad2:

Chanon,
So glad Bob got his ring back...& yes that is wierd the dude didn't tell him sooner. But at least you have it back.

My favorite time at Chucks! Love that hour or so before anyone else shows up. So sorry to hear about your can. It's sad that anyone would do that, kid or otherwise.

I found out from Disboutique board that there is live Webcam up from the Poly from a Disboarder.
They are going to do a preview of tomorrow night's New Year's Fireworks at 11:50, and he will be showing it live.:goodvibes

Well, it seems that Miss Terra would like to take a bath this evening. The bonus is that it is pure reading time for me! With any luck she'll also be ready for bed right afterward.

No work for me tomorrow or Thursday since the mom is off work. I suggested to Terra that maybe we'd go do something. With any luck, the weather will be nice again and we can get outside. It hit upper 60s today and was nice enough to grill chicken and yellow squash for dinner. Okay, scratch that, tomorrow's high is only 32. Yikes! Guess we'll do something inside after all. Who knows what though.

Have a good night everyone and for anyone I miss during the day tomorrow... a great New Year's Eve!!!

I need opinions.
I think we are going to do a project about the saturation point of different sweeteners in water. As in, how much Sweet & Low can you dissolve, is it more or less than the amount of Splenda or Equal you can dissolve, and how does it compare with how much sugar you can dissolve. And no, there isn't a point to doing that, which is really bugging DH.
I have discovered that hot liquid will "absorb" more than room temperature liquid, but I don't think that will come into play here. Unless somebody can make it more interesting by incorporating heat?
Artificial sweeteners are very scary, but I can't think of anything frightening to do with them in under a week. The project can't include plants or animals - no time to grow plants, and no authorization for animals. I wouldn't experiment on animals anyway. I might dump dissolved sweeteners into plants and see if it killed them, but that will have to be a project for another year.

Anne Marie how long of a drive is it from Disney to KSC?
45 mins to an hour. Its right where the cruise ships are docked. Very easy drive.

How cool, I love when people do that.

Becky,
:wizard: :wizard: :wizard: for your family. Sounds like you are all dealing with quite a bit right now.

My mother made ours too. It is beautiful. She started making them as wedding gifts for my cousins (I have a lot of cousins).

well.........

I am glad I saw it....but I don't think we would ever do it again. but, if you have the opportunity...I'd go. everyone should see it once

I think it really depends if you are into space....we are not, even the kids are not into it....so it just didn't have the oomph for us

we had gotten free tickets from out State Rep to get in....and then I bought tickets for the bus tour.....and then we did "Lunch with an Astronaut" which I did enjoy.

again, I am glad I saw it....but maybe in my mind I expected it to be more entertaining

Kristine I know you posted about this, but I don't remember your thoughts :rolleyes1 What did you think of the Kennedy Space Center? Gary has mentioned a few times about wanting to go here & I am worried I will be bored to tears.

I also think I am going to buy hm another ticket for the Richard Petty driving experience. He really enjoyed the ride a long & tickets are on sale for $49 till the 31st.

Thanks for all the good thoughts!

I have to work tomorrow. I have to get my oil changed, I have tried to get it changed a few times every time they are too busy. So I scheduled an appointment. Then I technically have off until Monday but I have an event Saturday to go to. I would prefer not going but since I have not been to anything at this unit yet, I should go. Assuming the weather stays decent as it is about an hour and a half away from here.

Hope everyone is doing well!

Thank you! I think this is something we are going to do. Tickets are $36.95 through undercover tourist, not to bad I guess beings it will be just the 2 of us.

Gary also wants to do the Keys To The Kingdom tour, is this suppose to be booked at the 90 day mark?

I got an email from Alamo for $10 car rentals, so I think we will rent a car for a couple of days. This way we can go to KSC & go to the outlet malls :thumbsup2

well.........

Thank you Kristine! Gary does find this type of stuff interesting, so I know he will enjoy it. Me on the other hand, well I guess I will just be happy that I am in Florida alone with him :goodvibes

Do you know if the free tickets are still available?

I think with this time frame you should call.....

I would just say that you heard that your state rep could help secure tickets for the KSC for their constituents...

in order to facilitate this process.....tell whoever you get a hold of that the person on the NASA end that handles these requests is Sonya Webb-Queen. Half the battle was getting in touch with the right person.

It's worth making the phone call for you

Also dissolving the same amount of sugar in the hot water will make it taste sweeter, then if you dissolve the same amount of sugar in cold water. So you could dissolve 2 tsp. sugar in hot water and 2 tsp. sugar in cold water the hot water tastes sweeter. I wonder if the same thing happens with the artificial sweeteners.

If you just compare the rate the different sweeteners dissolve at you need to make sure that the temperature is all at the same temperature.

You could compare how much of each sweetener you could dissolve at say 65 degrees, 75 degrees, 85 degrees, 105 degrees etc.

Or you could compare how sugar or any of the sweeteners dissolve in other liquids compared to water like vinegar, alcohol, tea, club soda, etc

Or how much of each sweetener it takes to make an object float

The effects of the different sweeteners and how it effects light traveling through them.

I am going to stop now. I hope one of these sparks some idea.

There was a story on our news the other day that somebody had gone down the street and shot windows out of a bunch of cars. The police said anytime school is out the vandalism crimes go way up. :sad2:

Chris came home from work yesterday talking about a car he had seen at work. Every piece of glass had been broken out of it, every quarter panel had been keyed and scratched into the hood was "Pay Me" :scared1: :confused3
