In re to Covid, if any of our travel party were to test positive prior to the cruise, would we be eligible for the 100% refund through the plan provider?

What if Disney were to change policy and require proof of vaccination, could you cancel and receive a refund?

thanks!

thanks for the info. when we asked the dcl rep they said the VPP would cover if we had covid but we had to file a claim, if they denied the claim, then the disney 75% trip credit would be available. They said we had 24 mos to use it but the paperwork shows only 12mos.

they didnt mention either of the two programs you mentioned. In fact they told my wife they used to have covid coverage but it was no longer avail.

just to clarify, booked would be when we made our initial reservation and paid the down payment, not when we paid for the cruise in full correct? we booked in november

Correct. If you booked in November 2022, you fall under the “old” policy which allows for full refund if cancelling due to Covid exposure within 14 days of the cruise. The insurance would not come into play - but you would not be refunded for the insurance cost.

I don’t know if the insurance would cover if there is another change in DCL policy. To-date DCL has offered free cancellation periods for significant policy changes. If for some reason they did s policy change without such an option, and you still decided to cancel, it would likely fall into the “cancel for any reason” 75% credit.

thank you, very helpful. we just paid yesterday and the docs state you have 10 days to cancel the VPP.
not sure if we really need it for anything else other than a legit someone comes down with it just before the trip

There can be lots of reasons people end up needing travel insurance. Someone becomes ill (not covid) before the cruise, someone has an accident or injury and unable to cruise, travel delays or cancellations, job issue and can't get off work, death of a relative right before the cruise, illness or injury while on the cruise, etc. (Some of these may not be directly covered by the DCL insurance.)

You really need insurance.
Search the boards, and you can see multiple people who didn't have insurance trying to figure out how to not lose all their money after having to cancel. (One couldn't get to the ship due to weather, another had a parent with a catastrophic fall.)

Sure, everything might be fine, but its an awfully expensive non-refundable vacation to lose because of flight problems, throwing out your back, sick child...

its not just for canceling, it’s also for if you get injured while on vacation.

Does anyone know if their insurance plan covered the southwest meltdown a few weeks ago? Our flights were cancelled and we ended up driving.

The insurance offered through DCL? Only if you booked the flights through DCL as well. If you booked flights yourself it isn’t covered.
