Day in the life as a Seuss Attendant!

We are just back from a week in Orlando. We bought the special 7 day tickets, and I thought maybe my family would like it and it would be something different from Disney for a day or two....boy was I wrong!! My family used those tickets more than the disney tickets (to my dismay and my pocketbook)--the meal deal is perfect for my tweens, and we literally stayed in seuseville for an entire afternoon! Love that Seusville!!
:cool1:

The walk from wardrobe to Suess Landing isn't that bad as that's pretty much the direct path.

Now wardrobe to Jurassic Park - yeesh!

Do they still run the trams? They use to have some years ago :p

Looking forward to hearing more, have always been curious of the life of an amusment park employee

We will be heading right to Suess land.
My kids can not wait! they have looked at the park brochure so much and each time are just as excited, maybe more than for.... GASP Disney!!

we are spending over $300 to go to univeral for one day of our disney vacation (with tickets, transport etc.) when it would be free at disney since we have 7 days of tickets and 7 days at disney.
and part of the reason is because we love the dr suess area so much! We were at Islands of adventure last year with make a wish - and we didn't go beyone dr suess and marvek - since my husband was very into marvel growing up. This year we hope to venture beyond the two areas a little bit - but we'll be in the dr suess area for a good long while.

Oh and I just want to say - sionce it was her make a wish trip she had the pink badge - and a medical pass to avoid lines - and people at Universal were sooooooooo nice to us - I think we saw more "universal magic" than we did "disney magic"
here are some pictures of my daughter and my niece enjoying the dr suess area last year :

Love the outfits!!! How is she doing now?

Very interesting. Reminds me of when I worked at Universal for a short time. I remember stopping 25 times as I walked across the park to get to my attraction and answering questions for guests, including Disney questions:rotfl:

I also remember Wardrobe and it being the reason I almost quit on one of my first days  I miss working there:goodvibes

Scammermom - thanks!

Damo - she's doing really well thanks for asking. She had a liver transplant in august of 2005 and a lot of complications for months afterwards - but the past year and a half or so have been very calm/stable for her medically. (knock on wood)
She started kindergarden this past year and is doing all of the things that healthy kids do.

Thanks for putting a human face to those costumed people who operate the rides. I have been teaching my DD to always say thank you to the ride operator and staff when the ride is done. It is so easy to forget that they are people too in our rush for fun.

That's great!! I wonder if some people think this is corny but we always try to do the same thing. The other day we said "thank you" to one of the operators and he seemed appreciative of our appreciation, like "you are so welcome sir, anytime!" I remember wondering to myself if they unfortunately don't get "thank yous" like this very often, which would be a shame.

Great report! Thanks for sharing!

Kristen- What adorable girls you have! I just got back from volunteering at GKTW for our Spring Break. What a wonderful and inspiring place it is! I'm glad to hear she is doing well. :)

DH works for Universal as well (as a tech) and I guarantee you that they appreciate the thank yous! All too often, the only people to talk to the TMs are the ones who are complaining.

My little brother just started working there as well, as a survey person, so remember to treat the survey folks with respect as well! They're there to do a job, not deliberately get in your way and piss you off! lol :)

They don't. It's more common on big rides (Hulk, Spidy, Mummy, MIB) than the lesser ones. Even then, it's here-and-there.

I know I'm not the only one thinking "Timeshare Reps"

popcorn::

I enjoyed that very much.

Where did you go? Please hurry back. :flower3:

Great post! It's fun to hear about the inner workings of the parks. And as a matter of fact, we were planning on starting our day at Seussville our next trip. Sadly, that probably won't be before January.... We LOVE Universal/IOA!

Another thing I thought I'd mention. In another post, I stated that we loved everything about our visit to US/IOA. The atmosphere was wonderful, it was clean, the employees were friendly and good at their jobs. My husband and I both observed that it takes a LOT of thought, work, and effort both onsite and behind the scenes to make a big beautiful place function so smoothly. We were impressed with the attention to detail. So a big thanks to all of the US/IOA employees who contributed to a fantastic experience that we plan to repeat as many times as possible.

I'm looking forward to your next post!

The "real work" happens at night. The 3rd shift crew are the ones who deserve immense praise. :worship: :worship: :worship:

Of course, those of us that work during the day do a lot as well. :)

Since we haven't heard back, I wonder if a manager there found out about the posting and informed everyone that this was not allowed. It has been a long time since the OP has posted, I kind of doubt that he will be back.
