Where is it located, bedroom or living room?
While we are at it,I would also like to know where it is located in the 1 bedroom at OKW.Thanks:)

There is a dataport on every phone. In any DVC 1BR, there will be 2 phones/dataports- one in the living room and one in the bedroom. There will be three in a 2BR.

We usually set up the laptop on one of the end tables in the living room and use the dataport there- except at BCV, where there is a wonderful desk in the bedroom which is ideal for working on the computer.

Enjoy!

Aren't dataports standard phonelines...which means 56k dialup...and pricey per minute?

If so, I'm surprised Disney hasn't installed broadband internet access throughout. While in my Chicago hotel last June, I had access to a service called Wayport (www.wayport.com). They provided broadband internet access for $9.95 a day. That seems pricey, but considering how much Disney charges per minute for phone usage, it pays for itself. Besides, having broadband internet access is nice...esp if your stuck in the room due to nasty weather or being sick.

Comments?

DVC charges 35¢ per local phone call and many have a service they can use as local while in Orlando. Apparently you must be careful with Orlando area as some "local call" are actually billed as long distance even if you don't dial a 1. I know my DSL (earthlink) gives us 20 hours a month dialup service inlcuded so that's what I use when I travel with the laptop.

At the OKW annual meeting there was a question about high speed internet service. The reply was that WDW was looking at it for all of their hotels.

There are now high speed internet kiosks located at many of the resorts (it's in Olivia's entryway at OKW). It is free to access any of the Disney sites and you can use a credit card to access personal email and other sites.

As Dean mentioned, make sure you check the access number you'll be using to be certain it is a local number. You can ask the resort operator to verify for you or just look in the room phon directory- there is a listing of all local prefixes dialed from your room. Just check the prefix (OKW is 827) and look down the list.

I use netzero and there are more than 6 local numbers available for that ISP.

Enjoy!
