Dad at 13

That is awful.:sad2: Why wouldn't they put the baby up for adoption.

Unfortunately, it's not really shocking. There are parents that don't talk to their kids about sex, and the result is circumstances such as these. There are parents, whom, for some reason, think it's perfectly acceptable for their 15 year old daughter's boyfriend to sleepover with her. :confused3

I think it's really rich that this little boy's father decides NOW is a good time to talk to him. I guess better late than never, right?

I do agree a paternity test needs to be had.

I always say this, but it is true.

I know a woman who was one of those overly-involved, overprotective moms. Kid couldn't see PG-13 movies. Kid couldn't read books that mom hadn't read and approved. Couldn't do all kinds of things. And she did talk to her - in a responsible and DIS-approved way - about sex.

She was one of those moms who were always using words like "appropriate." When the girl was little, she had an "inside voice", but never a spanking.

That mom did everything the approved and correct way. And she rolled her eyes hard at those who didn't. She'd even offer advice to people who complained about what their kids did. Let them know what they were doing wrong.

Kid was pregnant at 12 and gave birth at 13. They gave the baby up for adoption.

You just never know. (She shut up after that, lol.)

OMG! He was 12 when he got his girlfriend pregnant. My DS is 13. I can't even imagine... :scared1:  :sad2:

I'm 13! I couldn't even imagine! I mean, my girlfriend and I kiss, and sex isn't yucky to me, but if I'm doing it at 13?! Yeah, it's yucky for a 13 year old to be doing it.

The article said the boy is only four feet tall. I wonder if he has any growth or health problems. He looks really young. But a lot of kids at 13 look younger. His girlfriend also sort of looks young for her age. When I was in the 6th grade there was a boy in the 7th grade who had a child with a 16 year old. The baby was adopted right away though.

He probably hasn't started the growth spurts yet.

It is surprising that he's so young.... And here I was having to deal with my near 16 yr old niece pregnant....

OMG - he looks like a baby himself.

I thought the sleeping over started after the baby was born, so he could spend more time with her (the baby). I'm not justifying it, that's the way I interpreted it.

So it appears the family don't learn lessonsvery well. I would have thought that after this happening with his sister, the parents might just have told him the facts of life a bit earlier.
I totally agree that it is not purely down to the school to instruct these children. As soon as you become a parent you become respnsible for that child IN EVERY ASPECT OF ITS LIFE not just the ones you would quite like to take on. You cannot pick and choose which responsibilities you assume and the sooner these people learn that the better.

Did everyone read this in the article above?

And rumours began circulating in Chantelle's neighbourhood that Alfie was not Maisie's father.

Sean Thomas, who lives opposite the Stedmans, claimed Chantelle had already had several boyfriends, who were allowed to stay over in her bedroom.

He said: 'She's been with quite a few lads. They are allowed to sleep over at her house, her parents don't mind. She is treated like an adult and can do what she wants.'

Another neighbour, who did not wish to be named, said: 'The Stedmans let the kids run wild on the street until all hours, they have no control over them.'
A 17-year-old called Jake said: 'She knows lots of boys and never has the same boyfriend for long. Alfie lives with her and seems to think he's the dad but we all think he should have a DNA test.'

IMHO there is no way that boy is the father of the child...he doesn't look like he has hit puberty. The parents should make sure a DNA is done.

That's just very, very sad and disturbing. All the articles I've seen said the boy hasn't even hit puberty yet so I have no idea how he could be the father. The baby would be better off put up for adoption; the kid doesn't even know what "financially" means. I don't care what anyone says, no 13-year old is capable of taking care of a baby. And from the way the grandparents behave themselves, I wouldn't trust them to take care of the baby either. Crazy.

That was my first thought when I saw the picture of him, and read that his voice hadn't even changed yet... I was quite surprised that there was virtually no mention of a DNA test.

Good God, that's sad. And that kid looks nowhere NEAR 13. He looks like he might be 8.

And it really, really sucks that this kind of thing is becoming less and less uncommon. Shoot, I would have been all excited at the thought of KISSING a boy when I was 13; sex was the absolute furthest thing from my mind.

I wish they'd consider having the baby up for adoption. He's just so young.

I heard about this yesterday from another board (Twopeas). It is shocking! The father looks like a baby himself. It is very sad.

Sorry, this isn't about your post, but OMG - is that a pic of Kieth Moon in your avitar?!?!? I love Kieth, and I love The Who!!! To bad he passed before I was even born, but I've met/seen the rest of the group!

Because there is money to be made. The parents of these kids can pimp this baby out, because of the attention of the young 'father'. A normal looking teenaged father isn't gonna garner attention. As long as there's money to be made, there will be no dna test. I don't believe he's the father...he's just a stupid kid who believes he is, because she told him he was.

People have become disgusting.

I think so too. In all the articles it specifically said that he hasn't gone through puberty yet, so how is that even possible?! :sad2:

I know a lot of 5 year olds that looks older than him.

In todays Edition of the Sun there is photos of them holding the baby and playing a Games Console, its disgusting.

I wonder how much they was paid for this story. Babies bringing up babies :sad2:
